With long stretches of unspoilt beach and a rich cultural heritage – Sal has all the ingredients for a perfect day trip. This tour packs in the best sights, including Buracona lagoon and Pedra de Lume salt flats. To top it off, there's a traditional Cape Verdean lunch, and you'll get a glimpse of laidback, local life in Espargos and Palmeira. Rodrigo, one of our local guides, says, ‘Pedra de Lume is in the middle of a volcanic crater, and you reach it via a tunnel. You can sometimes pick up compressed salt crystals the size of a golf ball, while at other times the salt is so hard that you walk on the pans.'The fun kicks off with a visit to Espargos. You'll explore the island's colourful capital and admire its fascinating street art, before heading to an observatory point for elevated views over the town. Next, it's on to the Buracona lagoon, famed for an optical illusion known as the ‘blue eye' caused by the sunlight. The journey continues at the laidback fishing village of Palmeira. Relax in a café while your guide reveals stories about the village's past.You're in for a treat next, as there's a table waiting for us at a family-run restaurant which serves a special Cape Verdean lobster dish. There are other tasty options, too. After fuelling up on local cuisine, we'll head to the Dead Sea-like waters of Pedra de Lume. Lie back and float on one of the world's saltiest lagoons, before stopping by at Viveiros Botanical Garden to discover exotic vegetation and a petting zoo.

Tony was a fantastic guide who made the day special. My only comment would be that we spent a little bit too long in the afternoon sat in bars in-between attractions/sites. Could perhaps have included the lemon sharks in this tour if time was apportioned a little better.

I enjoyed the variety of the experience though wonder the value of a 15 minute walk through the capital of the island. The sales pitch made mention of tasting the local strong alcohol. A teaspoon full is not what I expected. I thought we would visit a high point on the island. We didn't. Perhaps that was a different tour! Lunch was like a school dinner sitting on one long table. I liked the location though. Still we did get out of the resort so that's good. Guide was excellent.

Overall a good experience, I am short but still found it restrictive sitting over a wheel hub, would be good to advise people to bring goggles if they have them for the salt lake. The sand plains with trick photos was fun. It will be more comfortable when the road construction is complete.

Tony was an amazing tour guide. His passion for his country shines through and his warm personality makes you feel so comfortable. He was happy to take an array of questions about Cape Verde regardless of relevance to the tour. He really wants to ensure you get everything out of the tour you want and insists this day is about you. He is such a lively, kind and caring man. I honestly felt like we were friends by the end of the day. Tony goes above and beyond to make this an enriched experience.

Völlig überteuert, schlechtes Preis/Leistungsverhältnis. Die ersten beiden Stops kann man sich sparen, danach zum Blue Eye wie Vieh "durchgepeitscht". Das Essen wie in einer schlechten Kantine, zwar schön gelegen, aber viel zu laut. Einzig der Salzsee war positiv. Der botanische Garten so "naja".

We enjiyed iur guide Ramiro emensly, he was amazing, with great infirmation on the island. We did not enjoy the meal so much, did not know about a starter, and the lobster was very overcooked, to the point if mush. My wife had chicken and I think that was the best meal. Consudering it was suposed to be local fish thoes whi had fish said they too were disapointed. But a great infirmative trip.

We had a great day out seeing the sights of Sal - our guide Eddie was very knowledgeable and informative. I really liked the fact that we didn’t stay too long in one place but long enough to see everything there. Nothing worse than trying to kill 2 hours somewhere! The salt lake at the was really relaxing but don’t swallow the water…it hurts!! Overall would highly recommend this TUI day out.

Extremely interesting seeing all aspects of the island. Ramano was very knowledgeable and open to many questions! Our lunch was fab as we had lobster! Timings were brilliant and with limited mobility Ramano arranged for me to get to the salt mines. Lots of care and attention! A fabulous day out and worth every penny! No stress!

I think that it was as good as it could be, there really is not a lot in Sal Would be nice if there was a visit to a street market or in to a church or something as all in all there was not much too look at. Also please advise people that the walk to and from salt flats is very steep

It’s wasn’t rushed we felt like the day was ours and the we took time where it matter The guide was amazing (Tony ) He make us laugh smile and we learnt so much from him The energy he gave was amazing From start to finish the tour was great Personally I wasn’t too keen on the botanical gardens But that’s just me When on the mini bus (silver) the driver made use feel safe with his driving and knowing he was with the bus at all times made me feel comfortable to leave my things on the bus

Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis stimmt im Vergleich zu anderen Touren gar nicht. Der Tourguide war toll und hat das Beste aus der Tour gemacht. Das Angebot mit den 10% Rabatt konnte bei der Buchung vor Ort nicht eingelöst werden. Online waren die Termine nicht buchbar für den gewünschten Termin. Also tolle Aktion, die nicht genutzt werden konnte. Angepriesen wurde eine Tour mit Languste zum Essen, dies war allerdings nicht der Fall. Man musste dafür eine Aufpreis zahlen.

Mooie tocht over het eiland Sal. Tijdens deze tocht hebben we de meeste bezienswaardigheden gezien. Gids Nando was heel goed op de hoogte van alles en had een zeer prettige manier van vertellen, ook over de geschiedenis van het eiland en het dagelijks leven op Sal. Regelmatige pauzes en bezienswaardigheden msken de tocht zeer interessant.

Super leuke dag gehad maar jammer dat er tegen ons niet gezegd is dat deze excursie ook in het Nederlands was. Bij het reserveren konden we volgens iemand van Tui (in het hotel) enkel deze excursie in het Engels of Frans doen. Terwijl we tijdens deze dag wel een Nederlandse gids met gasten van bij ons in het hotel zagen. Toch wel vreemd en jammer.

Took this tour to see the sights in the northern part of the island. Guide and driver were fine but didn't spend long in Espargos or Palmeira. Alcoholic drinks seemed to be a focus so for non-drinkers this wasn't great. Lunch was very good. Given the very low cost of entrance fees, food, drinks, fuel etc on this island the price of €121 per person was exorbitant.

Anfangs sind wir trotz mehrfacher Nachfrage beim Guide Mahmadu in den falschen Bus gestiegen. Er hat sich bemüht unsere eigentliche Reisegruppe zu kontaktieren. Durch den Wechsel auf offener Strecke sind uns natürlich Sehenswürdigkeiten wie blaues Auge und Fata Morgana entgangen. Die Reiseleiterin Bruna hat sich sehr bemüht den Tag doch noch zu einem Erlebnis werden zu lassen. Vielen Dank an Bruna Tipp an Herrn Mahmadu vor Fahrtantritt Teilnehmerliste überprüfen

Unser Guide Mamadou war unglaublich toll. Er hat mit soviel Freude, Witz und Hintergrundwissen die Insel Tour zu einem echten Traum Ausflug gemacht. Ebenfalls war der Fahrer sehr freundlich und hat uns sicher und komfortabel über die Insel gefahren. Als einziger Kritikpunkt war nur die Reiseleitung von TUI im Hotel, die uns nicht sonderlich gut über die Tour im Vorfeld informiert hat. Das Treffen war mehr eine Verlaufsveranstaltung als ein Willkommenstreffen.

Wir haben alle Sehenswürdigkeiten was saal bietet gesehen. Unser Begleiter war sehr kompetent und nett. Vielleicht wäre eine Fahrt zu den schonen Stränden von Saal noch wünschenswert gewesen, dann hätten wir diese uns noch ansehen können und evtl einen zusätzlichen Ausflug dort hin gemacht

Insgesamt hat Mamadou die Tour erst zu einem echten Erlebnis gemacht – dafür sind wir ihm sehr dankbar. Weniger positiv ist uns jedoch die Betreuung durch die TUI-Ansprechpartnerin vor Ort im Hotel aufgefallen. Sie wirkte oftmals gelangweilt und genervt, was leider keinen professionellen Eindruck hinterließ. Zudem haben wir die Tour über sie gebucht, obwohl wir online einen 10%-Gutschein hätten einlösen können. Ein solches Vorgehen empfinden wir als wenig kundenorientiert.

We stopped for lunch the restaurant toilets were not fit for purpose toilet seat in the men’s bathroom was in pieces on the floor the chicken was bruised and a very dark colour brown seating not good TUI need to inspect this area

The whole day was packed with activities. Visiting some natural wonders and learning about the island, from our tour guide, who is immensely proud of his homeland. We saw luxury housing and slums. The international investments on the island are apparent to see. The whole day was amazing, nothing negative to say about it. My highlights were the botanical gardens, although the animals look rough, their current lives are far better than their previous times. 10 out of 10 for a wonderful day

Der Besuch in der Saline mit dem Bad könnte etwas mehr Zeit als nur 20 min haben, mit umziehen, runter und dann das Bad ein wenig genießen, war es zu knapp, mit genießen war da nichts.

Unser Tourguide war echt super. Gute Stimme und echt lustige Sprüche für jede Lage. Wir wurden sehr freundlich in Empfang genommen und direkt auf dem Weg zur ersten Station schon gut über den Tag aufgeklärt und was uns erwarten wird, gespickt mit sehr vielen interessanten Infos über die Insel. Man hatte jederzeit die Möglichkeit fragen zu stellen die einem auch sofort beantworten wurden und hatte nicht das Gefühl das wir Zeitdruck haben.

Very rushed day trip!! The weather wasn't good ?? so unable to see blue eye, other day company's cancelled day trip's down to weather conditions ?? Meal was Diabolica ???? flys ?? landing on food !! NO covering over dinner table !! I asked to eat inside off Restaurant instead, It didn't feel like they was any air conditioning on mini bus . The driver was understanding when I mentioned all the above outside to him; NOT infront off other people ?? NEVER WILL BOOK A DAY TRIP WITh TIU AGAIN !

Lunch was good, stops for drinks good. Stop in capital was not long enough, no time to explore by ourselves, the same for the harbour so we could souvenir shops. The trip to the desert from our point of view was unnecessary, the time slot could have been used for free time. The salt lake is an unusual experience and the climb back up the hill was challenging for many of the people on the trip. The blue eye and botanical garden were excellent.

Visites formidables, tout été parfait, avec un chauffeur au top et un guide formidable (papadou),Nous étions 4 français et vraiment c'était chouette car nous avons pu poser toutes les questions possibles concernant l histoire, l économie .........et avons eu nos réponses instantanément....

The whole tour was organised well. The tour guide was very informative and passionate about his home. We were unlucky with the weather but it didn’t spoil the whole experience.

Als je de eiland toer doet heb je alles gezien van het eiland. Fernando is een fantastische gids, spreekt prima Nederlands en weet de mensen te vermaken. Weet ontzettend veel van het eiland omdat hij er geboren is. Een echte eiland man met het hart op de goede plaats.

Guide, Tony was fabulous, driver very cautious and safe too. Lots of time spent at each attraction with no rush to move on to the next. Tony was very informative, helpful and answered all questions we had, spoke very good English. Food and drink was great... cooked well and drinks aplenty, but we only had 1 disappointment and that was the extra charge for the 1 Lobster meal which we didn't think was very good... only a small amount and was very dry meat. All in all, a good experience.

Het was een gezellige excursie.. Veel mensen gesproken, het blauwe oog was geweldig om te zien. Het eiland heeft verder niet veel schoonheid maar daar kan Tui ook niets aan doen. Heb en ook nog een fata Morgana gezien, heel bijzonder.

The guide Tony was excellent, we were a group of 16 and he entertained us all with his vast knowledge and experience. The places we visited were interesting and the lunch was very pleasant as well.

Wir hatten Felipa als Reiseführerin, die den Ausflug sehr liebevoll und amüsant gestaltet hat. Mit ihrer Art, konnte sie uns das Leben in Sal näher bringen und hat unsere Gruppe auch zusammengeführt. Die Ausflugsorte waren absolut sehenswert und auch das Mittagessen war sehr köstlich. Insgesamt stimmte das Preisleistungsverhältnis. Ich würde die Tour immer wieder machen und empfehlen sie jedem ! Es war ein toller Tag der immer in Erinnerung bleibt.

Guide and day was great but sadly food was not. Vegi option consisted of plain couscous, grilled (soggy) vegetables and a tired looking salad. Tasteless and not eaten. Consider all customers needs. Vegetarian food is amazing and flavoursome. Even a few chips, cheese and salad would have been better. Complained to rep and waiting for reply
