What to expect
Haggling skills at the ready for the souks and shops in these two charming seaside towns. Contrast the quiet village streets of Hergla with the vibrant medina of Sousse. Classic Tunisian crafts you'll see include colourful Kairouan rugs, embroidered textiles, copper lamps, leather slippers and olive wood pieces. Karim, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Look out for traditional raffia-ware in Hergla. Berber artisans use Halfa grass – a dry plant grown in the region – for making hand-woven crafts such as baskets which we use to store fruit, vegetables and bread. They're a great souvenir, and they won't weigh down your luggage.'We'll begin with a stroll around the whitewashed village of Hergla, sitting pretty on top of the coastal cliffs. It's a charming place where the blue of the windows and doors echoes the sea below. Wander the lanes to see the old mosque and watch the basket weavers at work. Maybe you'll catch the fishing boats coming back to harbour with their catch.Oozing old-world Tunisian character, Sousse medina's web of lanes are bursting with activity. Karim says, ‘This medina is one of the largest in the Islamic world encircled by walls, and it was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site back in 1988 for its fine Arab architecture which hasn't changed for centuries. The Great Mosque and the Ribat fortress are my favourite monuments.' As well as the main market at Bab Jadid, don't miss Bab il Gharbi, a great area for shopping, watching local craftsmen, trying street food, or stopping at a café.

Very much enjoyed the Hergla part of the tour and could have done with more time there. Not that interested in the shopping mall part although the view from the top was ok! Was not impressed with the fact that we could have been picked up from our hotel as instead as we booked online the hotel Tour kalef was not on the list. We asked the rep at the welcome meeting if he could assist but he didn't seem interested. 15 minutes to the collection hotel. The tour guide said this would have been ok...

This your is nothing like the description, the village of Hergla was pretty much a waste of time, as there was very little to see. I appreciate it's Ramadan but the village was almost deserted. The trip then to the souk might have been better had we not been rushed through it just to have mosque doors pointed out to us. We were then shown where to be for the coach pick up and given just over an hour to have a look round. Nowhere near enough time to meander through all the little streets.

We enjoyed Hergla, Sousse and shopping in the fixed price store. The guide was good. We appreciated the toilet and drinks stop. A little more in Sousse would be beneficial.

After we were picked up and drove half an hour we waited for another half an hour at a hotel in Sousse for a family that had cancelled their trip. This meant that we spent 1.5 hours on a coach before we got to Hergla! This was a bad start but the guide was very knowledgeable when we got to Hergla which is a beautiful town. Then we were taken to a cafe where we were encouraged to buy a drink. Sousse was a quick tour round the medina then 1.5 hours free time.

Half day trip was just about right. Trip to Hergla was interesting but there was not much there. Trip to Sousse was longer but with a large group it was difficult to negotiate the Medina Market - meaning the route was not always through the main areas. The time at the end of the trip allowed you to visit areas that may have been missed. Guide Mohammed was knowledgeable and coped well with a multi national group - fluent in German & English

Spent £80 to be driven 5 minutes up the road and spend 35 minutes sat in cafe ( actually we stood outside) then drove to the medina ( which was the main attraction of the tour ) spent about 10 minutes being ushered through the medina, then just over an hour of ‘free time’ in a very poor department store selling the same things as our hotel souvenir shop.

Visite prévu pour médina et Sousse….en tout on a eu 50 minutes à Sousse..commencé par une visite village berbère….pas utile. Suivi arrêt dans un bar….pas utile Partie de l’hôtel vers 8.30 et revenue après 14 h. Pour avoir vu Sousse pendant 50 min…… Guide en trois langues….perte de temps… arrêt au retour dans plus que 10 hôtels Pas à conseiller….dommage

Heel attente gids. Sprak perfect engels duits frans. We kregen ook op de bus heel veel info over de omgeving. Misschien een tip, in Hergla zijn er een paar lokale vrouwen die leuke items verkopen in een speciaal gras, maar de tijd was veel te kort om eens deftig rond te kijken. In een rush kochten we wel iets maar we hadden graag wat meer gekocht en zo de lokale bevolking gesteund. Plan daar een 15 minuten meer in en iets minder tijd in de golden cafe.

Worst Tui trip we have ever been on. Waste of money. Guide was informative but repeated things. Village was smelly run down and a waste of time. At the market we were walked down a cobbled back road around the actual market couldn't even look in and then speedily walked through the gold jewellery section so fast we could not even stop to look. Ridiculous!!

The tour it's self wasn't what we expected . we couldn't hear or make out the guide yes supose hes speaking in 3 languages but I'm sure most of the time he forgot English so felt we missed out on some things as the driver was lovely very polite but I even think at one point he reminded the tour guide of something very poor

Wurden pünktlich abgeholt, Reiseleiter sehr kompetent, alle Teilnehmer wurden in Deutsch, Englisch, Französisch umfangreich informiert. Haben viele interessante Details auch zum Alltag in Tunesien erfahren. Da mein Mann mit Gehhilfe unterwegs ist, war die Medina für ihn zu anstrengend. Er konnte mit dem Bus bis zu unserem Endtrefffpunkt fahren. Alles perfekt geklappt.

The guide was rude constantly telling as to ssshhh be quiet, he stopped us at every yellow door, every flag that had a star, doors with a hand, he then stopped us and made us look at number plates from different countries, we had to sit exactly where said on the bus no others choice, he constantly picked leafs and told us many numerous times they were from lemon trees, we had 1 hour at a shop as we were rushed through the market only to stop at every mosc door, awful experience

We mainly wanted medina part, the 1st part was boring & he just kept pointing out fruit trees & mosques & telling us to shh & listen!! when we got to medina he rushed us through yet again pointing out the mosques every 150m & when we got to where we had to be picked up told us we only had an hour to do medina & shop which wasnt enough time!! All english people wasnt happy & dont think others were

Die Tour wäre wesentlich schöner gewesen ohne den 2 stündigen Ausflug nach Hergla und die absolut überflüssigen Informationen über die einzelnen Hotels. Statt dessen in hergla kein wort und erst recht kein stop bei den Ausgrabungen, statt dessen Kaffeepause. Unnötig. Wir hätten statt dessen entweder 2 Stunden später starten oder 2 Stunden eher in Sousse sein können. Leider auch in Sousse nur wenige wirklich gute Informationen zu den historischen Bauwerken. Viell statt Hergla lieber Ribat anschs

The guide catered more to the 4 French speakers in the group out of about 30. We were taken past fake designer shops and no actual local stores during the madina part of the tour and deposited at a tourist souvenir type shopping centre for an hour. He spent 5 minutes telling us about car number plates. I expected to see more authentic local shops and produce not fake Nike trainers. Nothing mentioned of local textiles despite walking past a weaving mill and stopping outside a museum for a moment

Toller Reiseführer. Hat auf mehreren Sprachen übersetzt und auch das Timing war gut. Jedoch wäre es schön gewesen, wenn in Sousse mehr als eine Stunde Zeit zur freien Verfügung gewesen wäre. Aber ein gelungener Ausflug insgesamt.

What we did enjoy was walking around looking at some of the old buildings and houses and seeing the main city. What we dident enjoy was how smelly, dirty and over crowded it was. You will spend more time on a coach than looking about

We didn’t get told when booked that would be a walking guide in extreme heat in village also the guide when we was in medina was walking away fast whilst we was trying to look at things I think he needs an umbrella or something to put up so future people know what to follow also I don’t think that 1 hour is long enough personally scrap the village as many people fell sleep on the minibus when guide was talking and give more time in Médina for people to shop for gifts.
