What to expect
Prepare for an adventure that takes in Tunisia's Roman roots and pirate past. You'll visit an amphitheatre to rival that of Rome with a tour of El Jem – an ancient colosseum where gladiator games once took place. Then, take to the waves for a swashbuckling afternoon at sea that includes swim stops, lunch and snacks aboard a replica pirate galley.This UNESCO World-Heritage site of El Jem is soaked in history. You'll be captivated by its stone-cut walls, fine-tuned archways and three-floor facade, a testament of glory to what was the Roman Empire. Take a seat in the age-old stadium and admire the arena below, just like they did in times gone by.Then, we'll cast off from Monastir harbour into the Mediterranean, just as the Barbary pirates did for centuries. But while they struck fear into European coastal communities as far afield as Iceland, we'll be going out to have wholehearted fun. There'll be stops to dive into the sea for swimming and plenty of time to dry off on-board while chillin' with water drinks and munching on snacks.

The guide on the coach was really helpful and gave lots of information throughout the trip The boat trip was value for money, they ensured everyone was enjoying themselves Seeing dolphins was an added bonus

As it’s a family based experience it would be nice to have a bit of quiet time. It was lovely but the loud music all way through it was too much. Staff were absolutely amazing!!!

Day was excellent in timing, content venues, hosts lunch and full day excursion. The only part my wife and I due to our interest and knowledge of colosseum would have been able to spend a bit longer there ie perhaps have a drink in the cafe (pre-arranged break?) To soak up atmosphere n secure more business for local vendors but appreciate this adds more time overall to day/bus driver etc.

A very well organised excursion, very knowledgeable and informative tour guide through the coliseum and the boat trip was fantastic. Not too many guests so you could enjoy it to the fullest, wonderful effort entertainment and good food. All round a beautiful day out

Our guide had so much historical knowledge and kept us safe and together throughout. The boat was epic and a great way to end the day. Our guide got us there in time and said we would have just over 2 hours on the boat but we had more!! Great experience, thank you to our hotel rep Aladdin who recommended this!

Food choice on the boat was limited - kids wouldn’t eat the majority of the chicken, rice and salad dish. Other issue on the boat was the swimming - there should be one way in the sea and another out - waited ages to get in the sea as the same people kept jumping in from the top of the boat and then wanting to climb back out. Fares the guide was amazing - very knowledgeable and friendly. El Jem was amazing - had about 1hr30mins there which we felt was enough with kids

Het colloseum was ok maar de piratenboot was niks , de maaltijd bij aankomst was nog redelijk , de boot vaarde pas uit rond 15 u en om 16 u waren we al terug , Dus de hele tijd wachten om uit te varen om dan een klein eindje te varen , een. 25 minuten te mogen zwemmen , dicht bij de kust ,en niet op open zee , das echt niet wat er beloofd werd , ze voerden dan nog rap rap een showtje op van nog geen 10 minuten om toch nog geld te kunnen ophalen … echt bedrog

Left at coliseum for 2hrs ,after looking at coliseum there's not much more to do ,waiting around for bus.Got to the boat excited to go out to sea and look at different parts of tunisa etc,hidden caves to only be taken outside the harbour in a figure eight. Waste of money and time

We wasted more than an hour just getting to the harbor, and that was only the driving time. This doesn't even include the time we spent at two different shopping areas. On the boat, we saw a mosque and a cemetery. The music kept cutting out, and there was nowhere to sit and enjoy the sea and sun. I was truly unhappy with the entire trip.

Onze gids en het colleseum was geweldig, voor het colleseum nog een oud Romeins mozaïek museum bezocht in El Jem, dit was indrukwekkend. De gids heeft ons ontzettend veel bijgeleerd. De piratenboot was dan wel een ramp. Is helemaal niks voor kleine kinderen en dat mag er best bijgezet worden. Muziek staat enorm hard, boxen kunnen het amper aan waardoor de kwaliteit ook nog eens slecht is. Dan gaan ze opeens hun animatie programma doen, wat totaal niet geschikt voor kinderen is

We enjoyed the tour guide and the colosseum both were fantastic. The pirate boat was not a good experience, staff smoking, flirting and the show was very concerning for a child to witness when one man lay on broken glass stood up bleeding. We were told we would get lunch on the boat which gave no choice and served on plastic plates.

The rep Farez provided so much information at each attraction. And whilst enroute. Sharing with us the history and best parts to see while there allowed us to take in as much as possible in the time we had to look around. The museum was fantastic it made for a nice set up pre the coliseum visit. At all times I felt safe as did my daughter, knew where we needed to be and was clear on the times. Overall the day was fantastic, thoroughly enjoyed and would recommend to anyone.

Was not what was described, guide was okay then went on a political rant, like his passion for his country but too political, pirate ship, not good, food poor, expected salad pasta chicken, yes got this but on an old school dinner plate, chopped up spaghetti, chicken the size of a sparrow, last week's veg, and slice of stale baguette, water given in flimsy plastic cup which holds 6oz, says no alcohol, but selling de-labeled bottles 10dt each 25cl. Went out 750m, swam in jellyfish, not for all

First of all we went to the el jem colloseum which was very interesting and very nice. A few shops around the area where you can find great deals. Then we went to the museum which was ok lots of mosaics there. But our favourite of the day was defently the pirate boat took us out. Then we had chicken rice and salad with a bread roll. And they hand out water. Or you can buy beers and ice-cream on board. We then jumped in the water and went for a swim. Where there was a pod of dolphins nearby.

Super leuk om het coloseum te bezoeken, goeie info erover gekregen van de gids. Piratenboottocht het zwemmen in de zee was super leuk, wel mega veel groepen op de boot, misschien iets te veel zelf. Maar wel een aanrader.

Pick up was on time. The coliseum tour was fantastic. I personally thought the pirate ship was too crowded, a meal was included but it took nearly 45 minutes for us to get ours so we politely refused as rice and chicken sat in the heat didn't feel safe to eat. Swimming and entertainment was good

Das einzige was ich persönlich als negativ empfinde ist das in der Erklärung davon gesprochen wurde das die Tour auch in Deutsch ist, dies entspricht in keinster Weise der Wahrheit da der Tourgide kein Wort Deutsch spricht sondern auschließlich Englisch und auch die gesamten Erklärungen bzw. Beschreibungen in englisch ausführt.

The trip to the coliseum was great, the boat trip was short I thought we would have travelled more along the coast. Trip was short on the ship We had two bus drivers both were speaking on their phones while driving which concerned me when they are responsible for a bus full of people

Aida our guide was lovely and informative. Thad the opportunity to see the mosaic museum, the coliseum and go dolphin spotting from the ship. I’d recommend taking a large bottle of water as all we were offered was 1 small cup of water. You can buy drinks on the boat. Didn’t like having to find my way back to the coach park from the colosseum but some kindly shop keeper shouted at me to go that way for the buses so disaster averted ??

An amazing day out, great air-conditioned, comfortable coach (there's a bit of travelling involved in this one) and a very entertaining and informative guide.. The Colleseum was stunning and the amount of time spent was just right... We also went to the Mozaic museum and an excavated Roman village which is not advertised and was just as amazing, just a shame we did not have long there... the Pirate boat was fun too, great food, sights and swimming.. we even saw dolphins! Superb value for money!

Excellent tour - enjoyed the mosaic museum, the amphitheatre and the pirate boat! Water/soft drinks & a cake/pastry should’ve been provided for the morning part aa pickup 7am & lunch approx 1:30/2 and also a better selection of soft drinks on pirate boat plus a vegetarian option! Guide very thorough & interesting, excellent English! Entertainment on pirate boat was fun and involved all the youngsters! Would recommend this tour.

The guide was very informative and very funny. The driver was also very nice. EL Jem was overall a very interesting site abd freat to see the restoration of this historic site. The Pirate ship was unfortunately very disappointing, the food was not good and a glass of water with cold food that I assume should have been hot. We had to pay for the children to have a melting ice cream we were very unimpressed with the fact that there were jelly fish in the waters but let people swim.

Timings at each attraction were perfect. Guide was lovely, friendly and knowledgeable. Food was good.The collusium was stunning, and the pirate ship was good fun. All staff were helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble. Highly recommended.

This trip to Do Jem and the Pirate boat was brilliant. The guide was very informative and of course the amphitheatre was incredible. The Pirate ship was fabulous although cut short slightly as the boat had a breakdown in the previous trip, so we lost about 30 minutes of our trip. But it was no ones fault, and the trip was very good, the guys on the boat are amazing, and lunch was really good and plentiful!

The Tui guide was very informative of the area as we traveled and the site itself. Would have liked to been given the option to purchase drinks on boat as they were there but not explained. Both the colleseum and the boat trip was very interesting and fun.

We thoroughly enjoyed the trip. We had plenty of time to look around El Jem and get a feel for the place and the pirate boat was excellent with the show as well. The food was adequate and you could purchase drinks and ices. I especialky liked when they came around with the water melon after the swimming and the show.

we moesten 1,5 uur in de bus voordat we er waren, daar aangekomen kregen we max een uurtje om rond te kijken, het was erg warm, dus de gids was snel vertrokken. Het is mooi om te zien, maar niet 3 uur bus tijd mooi.

The guide was annoying was talking to loud and never stopped. We walked off and did are own sightseeing.the collosium looked nice bit i cant do stairs so couldn't go inside. The mosaic hall was fascinating and interesting. Pirate boat was fantastic.

We did not have enough time at the colusseum. We had to rush around it to see everything and then hurry back to the coach. We were then taken to a museum that was not what we booked and would have preferred more time to enjoy the colluseum in a relaxed way and possibly enjoy a coffee. The pirate ship part of the trip could be greatly improved by increasing the pirate theme. The crew did not have any kind of uniform - dressing as pirates would be better. Pirate themed music would help too. We also stopped for a swim and snorkel in a location with no fish or sea life. Very easy and cheap improvements could greatly enhance the trip.
