With long stretches of unspoilt beach and a rich cultural heritage – Sal has all the ingredients for a perfect day trip. This tour packs in the best sights, including Buracona lagoon and Pedra de Lume salt flats. To top it off, there's a traditional Cape Verdean lunch, and you'll get a glimpse of laidback, local life in Espargos and Palmeira. Rodrigo, one of our local guides, says, ‘Pedra de Lume is in the middle of a volcanic crater, and you reach it via a tunnel. You can sometimes pick up compressed salt crystals the size of a golf ball, while at other times the salt is so hard that you walk on the pans.'The fun kicks off with a visit to Espargos. You'll explore the island's colourful capital and admire its fascinating street art, before heading to an observatory point for elevated views over the town. Next, it's on to the Buracona lagoon, famed for an optical illusion known as the ‘blue eye' caused by the sunlight. The journey continues at the laidback fishing village of Palmeira. Relax in a café while your guide reveals stories about the village's past.You're in for a treat next, as there's a table waiting for us at a family-run restaurant which serves a special Cape Verdean lobster dish. There are other tasty options, too. After fuelling up on local cuisine, we'll head to the Dead Sea-like waters of Pedra de Lume. Lie back and float on one of the world's saltiest lagoons, before stopping by at Viveiros Botanical Garden to discover exotic vegetation and a petting zoo. The excursion was so informative and professional throughout. Both the driver and representative were a joy. We felt completely safe the whole time and was so happy that we booked through TUI rather than a shack as we could see their mode of transport just wasn’t up to scratch and guests were full of dust from head to toe The whole trip was also amazing value for money the food provided was of very high quality and the drinks were plentiful. We would highly recommend this excursion

Toller Ausflug um die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Insel zu entdecken. Unser Highlight war das Baden in den Salinas de Pedra de Lume. Das Mittagessen war sehr lecker. Mahmadou war ein toller, witziger Guide, der uns zu jederzeit alle Fragen beantworten konnte. Wir empfehlen den Ausflug auf jeden Fall weiter ☺️👍🏽

The whole experience from start to finish was incredible. As always with Tui the whole process was smooth, stress free and incredible. It’s one of the bed experiences we have done. Perfekt organisiert, informativ und ein großes Lob an unseren Guide Rony, der das klasse gemacht hat! Etwas mehr freie Zeit in Palmeira wäre schön gewesen. Ansonsten gute Zeiteinteilung. Überraschend positiv war die Getränkeversorgung unterwegs und dass es beim Essen sogar Vorspeise, Dessert und Kaffee nach Wahl gab. Der Preis ist schon ziemlich hoch, keine Ahnung wer sich da die Taschen füllt… wir hoffen, bei den Mitarbeitern vor Ort kommt auch genug an;)

Our tour guide (Ramos) was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgable and definitely brought some energy to the bus. He welcomed questions and there did not appear to be anything he didn’t know. What a fantastic day we both had. On initial pick up our tour guide Ramiro and driver made our full tour amazing. At no time did we feel rushed. Ramiro’s knowledge of the island was truly amazing. A fantastic tour that encompassed the whole islands hidden secrets, that only a local person would know.

Our tour guide Eddie was friendly and informative. He had a knack of getting us to our locations before the crowds decended so that we didn't have to queue or wait for anything. He has a warm and happy personality and made everyone feel at ease. Everyone on our trip spoke highly of him and our driver.

Our guide Eddie was amazing and had the answers to everything. So so interesting. The whole tour was very laid back and we went at our own pace which we loved. Lunch wasn’t great though. Bit of a shame. Transport (Toyota Land Cruiser) was very uncomfortable for 6 people.

From start to finish the day was perfect. Our guide, Tony, was superb alongside our driver (Marcille?). Their manner and making us feel welcome from the off was great. Tony’s knowledge and positivity about sharing the history of the islands was perfect - a blend of history, humour and stories about f growing up. An excellent trip and worth the expense.

This tour is an excellent way to get to know more about the island: our guide Ramiro had limitless knowledge about all aspects - history, economy, politics, environment, society, religion, and he seems to know EVERYONE. A small group (6) was lovely and enabled me to ask lots of questions. The salt lake was good but I could have done with longer in the water. Lunch was ok. The botanical gardens a cooler and calmer way to end the day. All drinks, food and entrance fees included.

What an absolutely amazing day start to finish , would highly recommend and definitely do the same trip again . The guide himself “Tony “ was excellent, full of knowledge and a genuine nice guy nothing was to much trouble for him . Notre guide (Clovis) était vraiment parfait des explications utiles sur chaque lieux, on ressent son amour du pays . Magnifique visite des différents lieux et le temps de voir les choses pas presser comme dans les grand groupes. Mon seul regret c'est le prix de ce tour de visite un peu cher quand même

Eine sehr empfehlenswerte Tour. Eine sehr schöne und informative Inseltour mit unserem Guide Rony. Spricht super deutsch, ist witzig, liebt seine Insel und bringt das auch rüber. (Fast) alles was die Insel bietet, wird in der Tagestour angefahren, mit ausführlichen Geschichten zur Historie, Informationen zu Bildung, Gesundheitswesen und sozialem Zusammenhalt.

Tony was was a fabulous guide with excellent knowledge making each aspect of the trip really informative. He was good fun welcoming and answered all of our questions. The guide, Tony, was great. Highly knowledgable about all aspects of the tour, life on the island and the history of the island. He made the day far more than just driving around visiting the tourist spots of Sal. As for the tour itself, it didnt feel rushed and Tony always made sure we were one of the first tour buses to arrive at each destination; we'd heard from other people on cheaper tours that there was a lot of queuing - we didnt experience any of that. Would defo recommend this tour.

Blue Eye experience and Salt Lake were excellent. Guide was very knowledgeable and passionate about Sal lunch was good. Nothing really to dislike.

We had such a great day - the guide Ramiro was amazing and had us laughing all day. The food proved was great I’m so fussy so was great to have something I could eat.

Our tour guide (Tom) and our driver (Kelly) were exception. Funny, friendly, sincere and genuinely great to be around. They really added a little social to the tour. The tour itself was amazing. Clean, comfortable bus and excellent destinations. The natural pool and the salt lake are standouts, but the whole tour was excellent. Highlight of the holiday for me. 10/10.

It was a well organised trip and a valuable experience of Sal and it's history. Eddy our tour guide was not just knowledgeable but friendly and easy going. We could asked any questions, he knew the answers and answered honestly. First the itinerary sounded a lot but it was perfectly arranged with time for all with a relaxed pace. The town walk in the morning was great, the Blue Eye is so beautiful, the Salt Lake experience lovely. I would definitely recommend this experience!

Unser Guide, Philippa, hat mit unglaublich positiver Energie von dem Land und den Menschen erzählt und den Ausflug zu etwas ganz besonderen gemacht. Vielen Dank dafür. Auf die Languste kann man gut verzichten. Schade, hatte nicht sehr drauf gefreut.

Le guide très gentil et charmant parlait très rapidement et nous ne comprenions pas ce qu'il disait. il n'y a rien à voir dans la capitale hormis l'église. le village de pêcheurs est très mignon. Intéressant. Les maisons colorées sont belles. REPAS : l'entrée n'est pas tout appétissante et n'est pas très **********. Le plat principal était bon et copieux. Site du lac salé très intéressant et à voir. Par contre, la visite du jardin botanique était complètement inutile. Beaucoup trop chère journé

We had a fantastic day, and our tour guide was excellent. You easily fit everything in with enough time at each location. A number of drinks are provided throughout the day and a 3 course lunch. While it may seem a bit expensive at first, the price does cover food, drinks, and entry to three attractions. Overall, it’s a great way to see the Island of Sal in just one day. It was perfect for us since we were only there for a week and didn’t want to spend every day on excursions.

The Guide made the tour he was full of information, fun entertainment helpful took pictures and overall an amazing guy. He help to join the group together to make it. A wonderful day. As he said we stated a stranger and left led as friends even meeting up later that night for drinks .

Der Ausflug ist schon gut und vom Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis top. Zu einem echten Erlebnis wurde er aber durch unseren Guide Ronny, der uns mit Charme und Witz durch den Tag geführt hat. Besonders beeindruckend sind dabei seine umfassenden Kenntnisse über die Insel, die er in seiner ganz eigenen Art mit Emotion und Freude vermittelt. Wirklich klasse!

We paid extra for the lobster lunch which was a bit disappointing really. The vegetarian option wasn’t great either that one of the group had. Otherwise the tour was really good and gave you a good view of the island. Possibly the highlight being the salt lake - old mining set up where we had a dip. Cool experience. The botanical gardens were lovely in terms of the plant life. They also had rescue animals some of whom were in a poor condition and the enclosures weren’t the best.

I think it would be better to leave the salt swim til last, that way you can shower back at the hotel rather than walking round the zoo and getting itchey .other than that it was a great day out and also a big shout out to our guild Anthony ( Tony) . He was great, enthusiastic,knowledgeable and funny. He really did make the day special. Thank you Tony .
