With long stretches of unspoilt beach and a rich cultural heritage – Sal has all the ingredients for a perfect day trip. This tour packs in the best sights, including Buracona lagoon and Pedra de Lume salt flats. To top it off, there's a traditional Cape Verdean lunch, and you'll get a glimpse of laidback, local life in Espargos and Palmeira. Rodrigo, one of our local guides, says, ‘Pedra de Lume is in the middle of a volcanic crater, and you reach it via a tunnel. You can sometimes pick up compressed salt crystals the size of a golf ball, while at other times the salt is so hard that you walk on the pans.'The fun kicks off with a visit to Espargos. You'll explore the island's colourful capital and admire its fascinating street art, before heading to an observatory point for elevated views over the town. Next, it's on to the Buracona lagoon, famed for an optical illusion known as the ‘blue eye' caused by the sunlight. The journey continues at the laidback fishing village of Palmeira. Relax in a café while your guide reveals stories about the village's past.You're in for a treat next, as there's a table waiting for us at a family-run restaurant which serves a special Cape Verdean lobster dish. There are other tasty options, too. After fuelling up on local cuisine, we'll head to the Dead Sea-like waters of Pedra de Lume. Lie back and float on one of the world's saltiest lagoons, before stopping by at Viveiros Botanical Garden to discover exotic vegetation and a petting zoo. Our trip was brilliant from start to finish. Our guide Tomilos was excellent. Very knowledgeable about the island and made time to speak and get to know each guest in the tour. He made sure everyone was happy and if needed any help etc.

There was nothing we didn’t like, Donny our guide was very knowledgeable friendly, stop of for the food and drinks was very nicely put together and plentiful. Nothing was rushed so yes we can say it was very enjoyable, relaxing and fun, full 5 stars for this trip

The experience was informative about the island, and the guide was excellent in her delivery of the information, she clearly knew her stuff! I felt that we could have stayed a little longer in the salt lake, but other than that, the trip was well paced and relaxed. Would (and have) recommended this trip to others.

- Prijs van excursie was dubbel zo duur als wat medereizigers hebben betaald! - Kaviaarlunch was absoluut geen 20 euro extra waard - enkel middenstuk werd opgediend - dus bijv. geen scharen waar het meeste vlees is te vinden!! - Uitleg TUI hostes was (later gezien) enkel bedoeld om te reserveren: . echtgenote wel niet meegegaan (ingedeukte wervel-geen schokken) - zou geen probleem zijn met bus (offroad trip naar Buracona!!!) . niet wat er beloofd werd: bijv. geen panoramisch zicht Espargus ....

Enjoyed everything from start to finish! Antonio (Tony) our guide was excellent; very knowledgeable, proud and passionate; great sense of humour. The trip was good value for money and we didn't have to buy anything. We were fed and watered well. The Blue Eye was amazing as was the Salt Flats and the Botanical Gardens was a lovely way to round off a great day out.

Really good little train service down and back up at the salt lake, for €2 well worth it for people with less mobility. That was not an option when I came in February 2026. Guide was very good and knowledgeable and we had an excellent driver.

Gut hat uns gefallen, dass die Tour von einer Einheimischen geführt wurde und das Zeitmanagement. Nicht gut war, dass das vegetarische Essen Speck im Couscous enthielt und das grundsätzliche Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Empfindung ist etwas überteuert für das Gesehene. Von der Reihenfolge wären die Salzsalinen zum Schluss wesentlich, wegen des getrocknetes Salzes auf der Haut, angenehmer als vor dem Botanischen Garten.

Toni was amazing and an incredible tour guide. He was so knowledgeable and really keen to share the island’s culture and history with us. We loved the experience and saw so many things! The minibus didn’t have seatbelts so that would maybe be something to improve. Would also appreciate a cheaper alcohol-free ticket option as there were quite a few drinks included, but we felt the tickets were expensive and we would have appreciated one at a lower price with drinks an optional add-on.

Wir hatten eine ganz tolle Dame die uns sehr viel erzählt hat und es war alles sehr locker gehalten und natürlich immer No Stress. Zudem hatten wir auch insgesamt eine tolle Gruppe. Wir haben wirklich viel gesehen und es hat echt Spaß gemacht. Das Mittagessen war auch sehr lecker. Alles in allem wurde ich jedem diese Tour empfehlen.

Sehr positiv beeindruckt hat mich der gut deutschsprachige capverdische Reiseleiter. Sein beeindruckendes Wissen hat er auf genialer Art sehr unterhaltsam und mit viel Spaß vermittelt. Es gab immer ausreichend Zeit für die anstehenden Sehenswürdigkeiten, die immer sehr ausführlich erklärt wurden. Das Restaurant zum Mittagessen mit Meerblick war gut gewählt und das Essen sehr lecker. Preis/Leistung mit 119€ pro Person (Standardmittagessen ohne Languste) für afrikanische Verhältnisse schon viel.

Hat alles super geklappt. Der Guide war super lieb und hat sehr sehr viel gewusst. Man konnte ihn auch gut verstehen. Er hat erzählt dass er sich die Sprache selbst beigebracht hat. Es war alles in allem das Geld aufjedenfall wert, würden wir auch wieder so machen.

Wirkliche Highlights gab auf dieser Tour leider nicht, das blaue Auge fand ich unspektakulär und die Fatamorgana war kaum zu erkennen. Positiv war, das schöne Wetter und unser Guide der Ronny war ein herzlicher Typ und hat wirklich einen guten Job gemacht. 119 Euro für diese Tour waren nicht angemessen, eher vielleicht 60 bis 80 Euro. Ein Trost für mich ist, dass ein Teil des Geldes in einen sozialen Fond fließt.

The guide was very knowledgable and during the day we saw a lot of the island. The mirage was very good and we managed to get some good photos on our phones. The blue eye was interesting the guide took the photos for me. The salt lake was good. It’ quite a walk down we rode. It makes your skin feel good after you wash it off, but it stings if you have sun burn. We went to the gardens after so my skin was stinging for a long time which made it difficult to relax and look at the animals.

The excursion was so informative and professional throughout. Both the driver and representative were a joy. We felt completely safe the whole time and was so happy that we booked through TUI rather than a shack as we could see their mode of transport just wasn’t up to scratch and guests were full of dust from head to toe The whole trip was also amazing value for money the food provided was of very high quality and the drinks were plentiful. We would highly recommend this excursion

Toller Ausflug um die wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten der Insel zu entdecken. Unser Highlight war das Baden in den Salinas de Pedra de Lume. Das Mittagessen war sehr lecker. Mahmadou war ein toller, witziger Guide, der uns zu jederzeit alle Fragen beantworten konnte. Wir empfehlen den Ausflug auf jeden Fall weiter ☺️👍🏽

The whole experience from start to finish was incredible. As always with Tui the whole process was smooth, stress free and incredible. It’s one of the bed experiences we have done. It’s incredible value for money, plenty to see and do and the tour guide was brilliant! Couldn’t recommend it enough to everyone.

The guide Tony was so friendly, informative and welcoming. What a guy. The trip was amazing and it was so good to visit other towns and to see the desert. Floating in the salt lake was a great experience. The food and drinks were very welcome.

Nando de gids is een fantastische persoon, met veel je nus en bivenal trots over zijn eiland Sal. Wij hadden geluk dat de groep uit slechts 4 personen bestond , dus het was bijna een orivé-tour

Perfekt organisiert, informativ und ein großes Lob an unseren Guide Rony, der das klasse gemacht hat! Etwas mehr freie Zeit in Palmeira wäre schön gewesen. Ansonsten gute Zeiteinteilung. Überraschend positiv war die Getränkeversorgung unterwegs und dass es beim Essen sogar Vorspeise, Dessert und Kaffee nach Wahl gab. Der Preis ist schon ziemlich hoch, keine Ahnung wer sich da die Taschen füllt… wir hoffen, bei den Mitarbeitern vor Ort kommt auch genug an;)

I would significantly reduce the time driving through residential areas highlighting poverty & removing all dignity from the people who have to live there and include another attraction instead, such as the fishing village

Our tour guide (Ramos) was amazing. He was incredibly knowledgable and definitely brought some energy to the bus. He welcomed questions and there did not appear to be anything he didn’t know. His customer service was impeccable. The sites and stops were amazing but Ramos definitely made our tour incredible. He is an asset to TUI

What a fantastic day we both had. On initial pick up our tour guide Ramiro and driver made our full tour amazing. At no time did we feel rushed. Ramiro’s knowledge of the island was truly amazing. A fantastic tour that encompassed the whole islands hidden secrets, that only a local person would know.
