What to expect
Explore ARTIS Amsterdam Zoo, located just 10 minutes from the city centre on one of Amsterdam's canals. You'll discover newborn elephant calves playing outside, as well as monuments and flower gardens throughout this urban zoo.Take part in the Elephant Expedition, following foot trails whilst learning about these giants and cracking the elephant code. Imagine yourself in Madagascar at the renovated Kerbertterras (former lion enclosure) and admire how the ring-tailed lemurs, ruffed ruffs, and Madagascar radiated tortoises live together here. Listen to the various stories about the people and animals who stayed at ARTIS during the Second World War and view the buildings and animal enclosures with fresh eyes. Visit the Planetarium for a journey through space, included with your admission. You'll discover stars and planets whilst marvelling at our place in the universe. Stroll through the city park, admire the architecture and explore the botanical garden before taking a relaxing break at one of the vegetarian restaurants.Check the daily schedule for zookeeper presentations, where you can learn more about jaguars, Asian elephants and many other animals.

Pets are not allowed (assistance dogs are permitted; they need to be registered at the ticket office upon presentation of a dog identification card showing that the dog has been trained)

Mijn gasten komen uit Bermuda, grootouders met kleindochter van 11 jaar. Op Bermuda hebben ze alleen aquarium. Bezoek aan Artis was een hele belevenis want ze hebben alle dieren nooit in het echt gezien. Giraffen, leeuw, aapjes etc, alles was voor het eerst te zien voor hun. Ze vonden het geweldig !

La experiencia ha sido increíble, el zoo es gigante tarde como 3h en verlo todo bien, no es como cualquier zoo primero los animales están sueltos no en jaulas (excepto algunos pero muy pocos) y segundo tiene zonas de serpientes, reptiles, plantas etc… mucho contenido para ver

Er waren te veel bouwactiviteiten en we waren erg teleurgesteld dat ook het aquarium dicht was.
Het kost evengoed toch een hoop geld en de 'consumpties' bij 'de bakkerij' en het restaurant waren gewoon te duur.
Gemengde gevoelens dus.

We totally enjoyed the zoo! It was larger than we expected. We would recommend that you inform people that they could easily spend an entire day there! We would have appreciated some additional signage or perhaps a map to help to navigate the zoo. We understand the need to limit paper.
