What to expect
All aboard Sorrento's foodie train for three hours of the region's best countryside views and famous flavours. The whimsically retro blue and white trolley train trundles out from hilltop Sant'Agata sui Due Golfi to kick off your tasting tour.The Desert Monastery is first up. It dates back to 1769 and gives its resident Benedictine nuns, and you, some heavenly views of the Gulfs of Salerno and Naples, as well as Mount Vesuvius. Your next stop is Orto Ghezi to sample the spoils of a Mediterranean kitchen garden. You'll try honey and ‘limoncelle' apple jam here.During your panoramic train tour, there are all sorts of delicacies to taste, like local wines, fresh olive oil, tomatoes, olives, and bread. You'll also get stuck into a hands-on workshop to turn fresh lemons into limoncello – and sip the zesty end result. Plus, there's a mozzarella-making demo where you'll taste the freshly-made cheese.

Lovely little tour with some local food tasting. Very friendly, helpful and knowledgable local tour guides. Would recommend to anyone interested in sight seeing around Sorento and Itallian gastronomy. 9/10.

Local knowledge, very good. Wasn’t any scrimping on the food and wine they offered as tasters. The produce they were selling was reasonably priced. Local guides felt like they wanted to look after us.

This was a really different experience. It was lovely seeing smiles on people's faces as we tootled along in the train and people waving at us I felt like a child - in a good way. The guide was lovely. Couldn't always understand him but he tried his best. The transfers to the train were fine - just the usual heavy Sorrento traffic,- but fine when on the train up in the hills.

So the train driver was great very knowledgeable and friendly The farm was brilliant Paulo the farmer was amazing loved listening to him so passionate the tasting of wine cheese and tomatoes was lovely. We didn’t do any olive oil tasting though The limoncello was disappointing thought we would see the process of making the product and the lemon groves not just a talk and taste in a little room

This trip is excellent. The trip through the small towns in the train ( it’s a look a like train that travels on the road)was so much fun. The farm was great, it’s a small holding you see with a demonstration of how they make mozzarella and then they show you the range of products they have, lastly a tasting of the different types of olive oils on a bread with chopped tomatoes and mozzarella ( my wife is GF and they had an alternative bread) . There was also different wines they make to taste.

Really enjoyed the first half of the tour, especially the tour of the farm and the food tasting and the cheese making demonstration. The liquor factory was okay, but very brief, and then after that it seemed to be a long journey back, I think the second half of the tour could be shortened. The tour guide was great but spoke extremely fast.

I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this, it is certainly a unique way of sightseeing the local area. Our guide/driver was very interesting and informative and pointed out all the better views for photographing. I enjoyed all three stops en route but especially the limoncello tasting -just wish it had taken place in an actual lemon grove rather than indoors.

Though the tour guide was lovely, he spoke too quickly & not very clear. The Food tasting at the farm was excellent! Highly recommend. However, the monastery tour was basically walking up some steps and back down again - no tour which was disappointing. The trip overall was good and plenty of opportunities for photos / stop offs.

We absolute loved this trip from beginning to end! The little train was amazing! Took us to little villages that we never would have seen! Views from the monastery were amazing! The local veg farm was both humorous and informative! Our host there had an excellent sense of humour and the mozzarella lady also joined in the fun whilst showing us how the cheese was made! Local delicacies were the perfect lunch! Lemoncello tasty was also an excellent experience! A shout must go to the train driver!!!

The pick up and drop offs went very well. The 'train driver' is a real character and made the trip. The visit to the convent and farm were excellent. The convent for the views and the farm for a very instructive session and food tasting. The host is a real character. The only critism was the visit to the limoncello factory. it was just a corporate sell. Taste and buy if you want. This aspect could have been better bearing in mind the region we were in. Overall a very good trip

Perfect timing for each place. We liked the tasting of as many things as possible. The opportunity to taste more local foods and try more different foods and drinks would be good. Also a bit more around Lemonchello making would have been good rather than just a shop.

Super fun trip. The train was really cute and we got to see lots of the Massa Lubrense area. Everything was really relaxed, lots of time to enjoy the beautiful sights and food tastings. Fresh mozzarella is super tasty and I enjoyed the tastings of various flavours at the limoncello factory! I would highly recommend.

It was nice sightseeing in an open air train rather than a coach. The guide was excellent, very knowledgeable and helpful, he made the trip fun.. The gardens and cheese making was really interesting. The Limoncello factory was interesting but you didn’t see how it was made and the person wasn’t interactive as others .i think having 26 people on the trip wa too many as you were unable to get close emough to see the demonstrations

We loved going around the different experiences, the food at the orto ghezi farm was amazing. We just thought it would have been nice to add a lemon sorbet stop on the way back, it would have finished it off nicely. Also the driver of the little bus that picked us up to take us up to the train drove like a mad man and didn't speak to anyone other than to say out here, train in ten minutes.

The driver francesco was great, funny informative and the people at the places we visited were lovely. I thought it was a little bit expensive for what it was £75.00 each but if was a rainy day so did it anyway but £60 would have been more reasonable per person.

Convenient pick up and drop off from hotel. Stop offs we're ok, the farm stop was the best, although we baught lemonchello from there, we then tasted a nicer one in Serento on the Tui guided vwalk. The train itself a bit tight, 4 adults in a row and a bit uncomfortable towards the end, seating not soft. Guide very friendly bit spoke a bit too fast at times.

The train ride is good but not much explaining of where we were or why it was important to take us there. The new driver is pleasant and tried to make it fun but it has lost its magic if you have been before and loved Chiro. The farm experience was very awkward and after several visits to the limoncello factory, I’ve realised the owner is just rude anyway.

The site seeing from the train. The stops at the various sites. The drink samples which were so good - the lemon cello factory with taste tests, and instructions on how it is made. The farming area with drink and food lunch included all free. With demonstrations on how things are made. Monastery step climb had a amazing view.

Good taxi service to and from train, kind driver/guide, great panoramic view from Monastery if you are able to climb 85 steps, great little farm visit with enthusiastic welcome and mozzarella-making demo with well organised product tasting. Limoncello tasting ok. We really enjoyed the trip - only real comment would be to check that summary of tour actually matches what is included! E.g. no limoncello making workshop. A very enjoyable 3+ hours

le temps de trajet en train est très long, même si les paysages sont très beaux à voir, ce n'est pas le moyen de transport le plus confortable pour le faire. Les visites peuvent être largement faites indépendamment de cette excursion et pour beaucoup moins cher. Je regrette de ne pas avoir vu concrètement de près les installations et le mode de préparation du limoncello, l'arrêt au monastère n'est pas exceptionnel. Je trouvé ça cher pour le contenu. Nous étions 3, à 75euos/personne !

Really nice tour. We have been to Sorrento previously so have seen a lot of sights. This was a little different and we saw a lot of the peninsular we wouldn’t have seen if we hadn’t been in the train. The wine tasting snd mozzarella making was really good although the limoncello making was a bit disappointing - thought we’d see more but then the process is very easy. Driver was really pleasant and offered a good guide of the area.

This was a fabulous tour. The guide was cheerful, enthusiastic and very knowledgeable. The stops were the right length and all were most enjoyable. It added an extra dimension to the holiday. Notes- some consumption of alcohol took place. Some people had limited mobility but still participated fully.
