What to expect
Taking a closer look at Khao Lak local life rewards you with a deeper cultural understanding on this varied tour. You'll meet the locals, learn a little Thai boxing and be blessed by Buddhist monks. Then swap culture for nature with lunch at the beach and a visit to a turtle rescue centre. Malee, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘You'll have some fun getting to grips with Thai Boxing moves, but the original purpose of Muay Thai was not about fun. It began centuries ago when the army developed battlefield tactics for unarmed combat. These ancient combat techniques eventually evolved into the popular sport we know today.'It's all about getting to know Thailand's authentic side on this tour. First, we'll stop by the local school to see how Thai children go about their morning routine. Next, it's on to a temple to offer the Buddhist monks a small donation in exchange for good karma and a sacred bracelet. There's time for a look around the colourful temple to take some photos, too.After the calm of the temple, we'll raise the tempo and have a go at the high-flying kicks and powerful punches of Muay Thai boxing at a gym. After all that action, you'll be ready for a typical Thai lunch at Sai Rung Waterfall's restaurant. You'll have some time to reflect at the Tsunami Memorial, before an extra-special treat – a chance to learn about the elephants at a nearby seaside sanctuary. You'll round off your day with a visit to the turtle rescue and rehabilitation centre to find out about their work.

This tour requires a minimum of 6 guests in order to run
The local school will be closed from 25th March to 16th May, so you'll visit the Orphanage Foundation as an alternative, and from 1st April to 10th April you'll visit the Tsunami memorial instead

The guide made us feel extremely uncomfortable. She would share her personal life problems with us- being a drug dealer, get getting depressed & also made very ********** remarks which ultimately upset me and my partner directly as my partner is the race she was referring too.

Wir hatten praktisch eine Privattour mit 4 Personen. Unser Guide Mike hat uns sehr viel über Land und Leute erzählt und natürlich auch über die entsprechenden Sehenswürdigkeiten. Die Tour war sehr interessant und kurzweilig. Auch unser Fahrer Mr. Palm war sehr nett und hilfsbereit.

De gids en de chauffeur zijn geweldig. Als iemand je wat kan vertellen over het land de dieren en religie dan moet je bij haar zijn. Heel erg gedreven om ons iets te kunnen vertellen. Nogmaals bedankt jullie twee.

Wer etwas Kultur, etwas über den einheimischen Kampfsport erfahren/ausprobieren möchte, und schöne Orte zu Gesicht bekommen will, sowie auch Tiere liebt ist hier genau Richtig. Super informativ, abwechslungsreich, und man fühlt sich wohl. Einfach ein super Ausflug.

Die Tour war schön bis auf den Besuch eines Kinderheims. Wir fanden das die Kinder tressiert wurden uns zu gefallen,sie kamen direkt auf uns zu haben die Hand genommen und nicht mehr los gelassen, wollten nur auf den Arm oder uns umarmen. Ich habe selbst Kinder und kenne viele Familien mit Kindern ,aber noch nie habe ich erlebt das Kinder so zutraulich auf fremde Erwachsene zugehen. Das wirkte schon sehr einstudiert und hat uns nicht gefallen. Dieses Verhalten ist für Kinder nicht normal

The Buddhist temple blessing wasn't as I thought. It was done at a plastic table,plastic seats outside and in a group. The best parts were the lunch served in a river and making food and feeding the elephants.

I would check people’s mobility we had an elderly lady on our trip who wasn’t very mobile so the trip had to be tailored to her needs which meant that our experience was different

Reiseleiter Dong (?) großartig! Informiert mit viel Witz und ist sehr engagiert! Jederzeit würden wir wieder eine Tour mit ihm buchen. Die Tour war auch inhaltlich absolut toll zusammengestellt. Gerade wenn man wie ich zum ersten Mal in Thailand ist, lohnt sich diese Tour!

I enjoyed the trip but I was extremely disappointed that due a national holiday there was no trip to the school or the museum This should have been mentioned at the time of the booking. I thought the guide was really good and it was value for money but I wouldn’t have booked if I would have known there was no trip to the local school I was really looking forward to it.

Die Reise war sehr kurzweilig. Der Reiseleier „ DONG „ sprach sehr gut Deutsch und war sehr engagiert im Umgang mit seinen Teilnehmern. Alles war harmonisch und schon fast Privat. Auf alle Fragen hatte er eine Antwort. Auch sein Fahrer passte sehr gut ins Team. Ich kann die Reise und den Reiseführer bestens weiterempfehlen. Hat er super gemacht .!!!

The temple blessing with the monk was good. Thai Boxing was very fun. The Tsunami police boat was informative and sad as you would expect but important to see. The elephant feeding was fun. The turtle sanctuary was good to see. We ended up going to an orphanage, the facility we stopped at was fine and the children looked ok but we were sat in front of them whilst they were sat on the floor, being at the back while they did a class for instance would have been much nicer, it felt really wrong.

We werden veel te vroeg opgehaald, waardoor we overal te vroeg aankwamen. De school was gesloten, het weeshuis waar we dan naar toe zouden gaan was ook dicht ivm een feestdag. De monnik moesten ze opbellen want was er niet, de tempel was nog dicht dus hebben we niet bezocht. Zelfs de gids het gevraagd om later te vertrekken, maar mocht niet. Dus al met al te duur voor deze trip.

For the waterfall visit, we were told there would be somewhere we could change into our swimming costumes, but when we got there there wasn’t. At the restaurant where we had lunch the toilets were disgusting. There was a lack of opportunities to visit the toilet during the first part of the day. Otherwise the trip was great.

The trip was excellent, I enjoyed every activity. Going to the Thai School was so much fun, the kids were so cute and funny! The rafting was so much fun too and the other activities were excellent too. We picked a trip in Krabi and spent a lot of the time on a boat and a bus. The benefit of this trip was that the transportation was just a tiny part of the trip and most of the time we were doing activities. The tour guide Chelsea was lovely and we enjoyed getting to know her. A±++++

Our tour guide Chelsea was supported by Sunny and Jamie during our trip and we had an amazing time. Jess loved the visit to the local school and the turtle sanctuary was a real highlight. I had the best time on the bamboo raft and the Thai boxing was a lot of fun as I watched Jess and some other volunteers get put through their paces.
