What to expect
Join the ultimate hiking experience of the Samaria Gorge. This is one of the longest and most beautiful gorges in Europe. The activity starts around 5.20am - 6.10am from the Chania area with a pick-up directly from your accommodation.You will arrive to your destination around 7am and after a short breakfast, you will have the chance to photo-shoot the entrance of the gorge and admire its unique natural fomation. Your hiking escort will give you all necessary instructions on how to enter the gorge with the rest of the group.After that, the driver will take you to the small village of Sougia, where you will embark on the boat to reach the village of Agia Roumeli. You can walk up to the exit of the gorge, to the “Iron Gates” or swim and have lunch there, until you meet with the rest of the group. You will arrive at Chania around 8.30pm.Indicative Time-table: 05:20-06:10 Pick up 07:30 Short stop at Omalos (1.200 m) – free time for breakfast and to take some pictures 08:00 Departure from Omalos to Sougia 09:00 Departure from Sougia to Agia Roumeli by boat 10:00 Arrival at Agia Roumeliwalk into the gorge up to the Iron Gates (optionalwith fee – not included). Free time to eat & drink and to swim. You can walk until the exit of the gorge, to the “Iron Gates” or swim and have a lunch there until you meet with the rest of the group. 16:30 Meet your guide at Agia Roumeli and get theferry-boat tickets to Sougia. 17:00-17:30 Departure from Agia Roumeli to Sougia 18:30 Arrival to Sougia 20:00 - 20:30 Arrival at your HotelPlease note that Entrance Fee and Boat Ticket are not Included and are paid on the spot in cash.

What to remember

At the end of the hiking tour, there are taverns at the village Agia Roumeli, where you can have lunch. You have to option to pay by cash or card

Man bliver sat af alene, guiden følger kun med dem der går den lange tur, Dafnia er super guide, men manglede måske et stykke papir, hvor det hele stod på hvad vi skulle, for de græske navene er sværre at huske.Og priser for båden og parken er dyre end det der står. Men da man kom til Samari kløften, det var en smuk tur

Hade beställt easy way men guiden fattade att vi borde vilja ha den normala så han frågade och förklade o därefter ändrade det direkt vilket var smidigt och rätt beslut.

Vores guide Ingrid var ekstremt kompetent som gav os god service og informationer. Hun fortalte en del om Kretas historie og Samari Gorge. Sjældent har jeg haft en bedre guide. Selve kløften var en kæmpe oplevelse, men jeg gik også på dele af ruten med en frygt for, at sten ville falde ned. Er man til spænding, en flot oplevelse og afprøvning af ens fysiske grænser, så er det turen.

Alt var fantastisk. Eneste minus er oplevelsen ved at ankomme til destinationsbyen. Efter en hård tur er følte vi os lidt tvunget til at gå på restaurent for at kunne sidde i skygge. Der er ingen andre steder at sidde ned og få lidt skygge.

Easy/einfach sollte in der Beschreibung unbedingt geändert werden! Wir sind sehr sportlich und haben die Tour in 4:00h geschafft. Für untrainierte ist dies jedoch schon sehr anspruchsvoll! Die anderen Touren werden allesamt mit „anspruchsvoll“ beschrieben. Es gibt aber keinen anderen Weg! Dies könnte zu Verwirrung oder Überschätzung führen!

Apparently I accidentally booked the "easy tour", that was not my intention and did not notice it until now (we walked the whole gorge anyways). We were lucky to have such an amazing guide, Ingrid, with us. Ingrid is super charming and we felt very safe and comfortable doing the excursion with her. So massive thanks to her for making our hike so pleasant and free from worry! ??

Kaikin puolin hyvin järjestetty retki, en varsinaisesti keksi kehitettävää. Rotkossa jouduimme kivisateeseen mikä oli hiukan pelottavaa. Kehenkään ei kuitenkaan sattunut. Olihan siellä varoituskylttejä että niin voi käydä, mutta jossain USAssa vaellukselle pitäisi varmasti sonnustautua kypärin. Kreetalla ei, maassa maan tavalla.. eikä kypärää olisi kiva pitkällä vaelluksella käyttääkään. Siitä syystä kuitenkin hiukan alempi arvio turvallisuuteen.

Busschauffören från Kyriakakis travel borde gå en kurs i att framföra ett tungt fordon med respekt för de resande samt andra trafikanter, i Sverige är hans beteende i trafik att likställa med vårdslöshet i trafik och skulle rendera i indraget körkort och mer därtill

Bra guide. Perfekt med upphämtning intill hotellet. Vid bokningen står det att det är en Easy tour, men det var faktiskt alla 16 + 2 km genom ravinen och ner till havet. Guiden frågade oss några stycken om just denna Easy tour, men det var ingen som utnyttjade denna. Det som var dåligt var att den inte fanns med i appen. Den turen som fanns med i appen, gällde för Heraklion och inte Chania

Det var en perfekt tur og guide. Transporten var en positiv oplevelse hvor vi blev hentet og bragt tilbage med i opsamlingsbus, hvilket minimerede de mange stop ved de forskellige hoteller. Prisen var også mindre end oplyst

Positivt: God guide, der fortalte om det der var nødvendigt at vide om turen i Samaria-kløften. Meget turistvenligt: god hjælp ved passage af floden og andre vanskelige passager. Godt med kilder langs ruten og fint med toiletmuligheder. Negativt: Al for lang ventetid i havnebyen inden sejladsen.

Excursie geboekt en betaald met ideal. Tickets binnen via email. Blijkt dat de prijs voor de kloof en de boot niet zijn inbegrepen, dat is nou jammer. Je betaald dus eigenlijk voor de bus en de begeleiding in de kloof. Ook werden we niet opgehaald in ons hotel. Moesten eerst naar een ander hotel lo

Onze gids Nikos was een erg vrolijke man.Tijdens de tocht zelf loop je zelfstandig (tenzij je achteraan loopt). Dit vonden wij wel relaxed. Goeie wandelschoenen zijn een must. Voorjaar of najaar is het wel beter om dit te doen. De spierpijn was het echt meer dan waard en ik zou het zo weer doen!
