Wat te verwachten
Denk je aan Saona, dan zie je wuivende palmen, parelwitte stranden en kristalhelder water voor je. Inderdaad: het paradijs. En hier is het een dag lang het zalige nietsdoen wat de klok slaat. Je bereikt het eiland met een combinatie van een catamaran en een snelle boot. En onderweg stop je om te snorkelen.Ramon, een van onze deskundige gidsen, zegt: "We doen ons best om onze ongerepte omgeving en alle soorten die deze zo bijzonder maken te beschermen. Wij waren het eerste land dat zeekoeien bij wet beschermde, en we hebben hier op Saona ook een programma voor het behoud van schildpadden”. Het eiland en de omringende zee zijn zo belangrijk voor hun biodiversiteit dat ze als nationaal park worden beschermd.Je zet koers vanuit het vissersdorp Bayahibe richting de zonovergoten zee rond het Nationaal Park Cotubanama. Onderweg plons je met een snorkelmasker in zee om het koraalrif en de tropische vissen te zien. En dan stop je bij een ondiepe poel tussen de zandbanken midden op zee. Eenmaal in Saona, heb je alle tijd om de vergezichten in je op te nemen en dat alles op de foto te zetten. Het is aan jou hoe je deze dag besteedt: je relaxt met een cocktail in je hand of maakt een romantisch rondje op het 1 km lange privé strand met wit poederzand. Saona is een van de meest bezochte gebieden in het land, maar we hebben een exclusief strand gereserveerd voor je. En dan schuif je aan voor een 'surf 'n turf'lunch in een restaurant aan zee. The overall trip was okay. The visit to the island was nice and the speedboat/catamaran were positives. However, our tour guide was very little help. He did not interact with the guests or offer information about the island or area. On the return journey, he sat on the catamaran with his headphones in and didn't engage in any conversation or offer anything insightful.

Speedboat & catamaran crews were great, especially the speedboat crew. Guide with us was poor, barely any interaction & no information provided on arriving at Saona. Food at lunch was poor. We did this trip 6 years ago & it was loads better. Weather at beach was a shame but couldn't be helped. Boat crews & fellow guests made the day.

10/10, it was worth paying more for the private beech. Not crowded, plenty of food and drinks for everyone. Out in a fast boat and home on a catamaran. The captain and mate on each boat kept us entertained and filled up with food and drinks. The guide keep us on track and gave clear details of what to expect of the day when we got on to the coach. Safe driver who delivered us back to our hotel.

Didn’t cater for vegetarians on this trip, was left hungry all day till 8pm when we got back to the hotel….. they run out of beer on the trip, 2 hours without a drink. Shocking and will be taking this further

Everything enjoyable Only recommendation is to: Add a breakfast stop - it is long day and more often pickup times may affect ability to grab anything before 7am. Suggest to add some wood panel - shore where you get onto the uber boat for the catamaran as the area is very rocky and some glass was found so unsafe. . Recommend people to wear slip on mules or suggest area improvements. Staff and Saona was fabulous!

Danny, our guide was brilliant, very knowledgeable, good fun and made the experience much more enjoyable. Speed boat was not quite a ‘speedboat’ and likewise the katamaran was not the typical image of a katamaran with the netting etc you’d expect. Minor things but 2nd time we have done this experience and nine years ago it was a little better for those reasons.

The trip was great, loved the snorkeling, we saw some beautiful fish. The speedboat was great, the guide got everyone to sing happy birthday to my husband, thankyou, it made it more special as it was his 60th birthday. The catermarran was great, needs more entertainment, there was music but nobody was really enjoying it....I loved it!

I did not enjoy anything about this experience The trip included snorkeling when all the corals is dead and no fish. The food was rubbish and the drinks were cheap. The guide was next to useless and when we got back to the coach he disappeared. Saona was full of flies, the beach was full of debris. Nothing about this trip reflects the £100 per head price tag. This was a majorly disappointing aspect of my holiday.

The trip itself is promoted as being pure relaxation however the catamaran sail is far from this. We were a family and 2 boys were tired yet no consideration was given to this fact with overly loud music being played catering towards other guests. The surf and turf dinner promotion is also misleading as you are given some fatty lamb, bbq chicken and some prawns. Expectations would have most people assume at least a cut of steak with prawn as a minimum. Overall not the best value for money tour.

The guide on this trip was the worst I have ever come across. He spent most of the day on his phone and or asleep on the boat he was not at all informative and miserable the whole time. I have done this trip before with other providers and it was lovely. This time I should of kept my money. Stood around for an hour in the morning waiting as well as nothing nice about the trip. Although the lads working on the catamaran they are the only reason for any score as they were good.

We were generally very happy with the experience, however being left on the beach for close to an hour waiting for our guide to arrive, only then to have some confusion over who should be getting on the boat (two guests who should not have been there were given access because no name checks were completed before allowing people to embark. This process was only completed when we were changing to the catamaran for the larger part of our trip.).

Snorkeling 200 yards if that from the beach. Corals in poor state, then took to beautiful sandy bank. Then to island, food ok, beach so so, quite shingly, section that was for our use, but another section 2 strides away. Catamaran ok. Staff were the best thing. Definitely overpriced.

The island was not as we thought but maybe the storm was responsible for that , the boat crew were superb couldn’t fault them , we were however uncomfortable with the behaviour of the guide mesa , who referred to tipping for most of the day before going around on the way back with his hand out then counting his tips in front of us like his winnings from the horses , we also witnessed him urinating against tree on the island described as a national park , there were children on this trip

This was an adults 13+ excursion.... or so we thought. There was a child on board and this was not value for money at all. 1st to be picked up so we were on board the coach 2.5 hours. Snorkeling at the 1st stop was up shopping over boats and we got to Snorkel where all the boats are moored in sea full of diesel and pollution not the Snorkeling we had in mind It said a private area on the beach to have diner it was a shared shack with a buffet & bbq to which the food was getting swarmed by flies

Der Guide hat sehr wenig geredet und fast gar nichts auf Deutsch (einzelne Sätze) Wir mussten noch lange auf unserem Schiff warten im Hafen umher von vielen Verkäufern die die ganze Zeit das gleiche Verkaufen möchten. Außerdem sollte man Trinkgeld den Betreibern geben obwohl die Bootfahrt nicht sehr gut war.

It was a great day. It takes a few hours to get to the island, but it's worth it. Your in paradise for about 3 hours, you get a nice bbq lunch ,then off you go to another place where you'll see starfish. The boat guy gets in the sea with you and serves drinks. All in all good value for money and a big thank you to the staff that looked after us.

I have paid £248 for an excursion that never happened. We are 2 adults and 1 child, and in the morning of 30.06.2025 when the excursion was booked, I arrived at the hotel reception earlier to wait for bus collection. We were told to wait outside hotel receotion entrance, but bus collected people from Security gate down at the barrier hotel.I have called customer service at TUI, where I spoke with a very rude person that didnt help but shout at me.I will never ever purchase any excursions viaTUI

Food on boat was awful. Only cheese and ham sandwiches which were slimey to say the least so did not eat. They had obviously been prepared hours before and not kept cool. Cheese and pineapple/meat offered and was very warm too. Boat ran out of sprite and no water. A few drunks on board and children hanging off side of no boat with no sign of parents. The pork meat offered on Soana Island was extremely fatty and we were rushed to finish lunch. Toilets were awful.

We really enjoyed the island, it's really picturesque, it's just a shame we only had a couple of hours on it. If TUI had put it in the write up that there's a 2 hour coach ride either way, and we'd only get 2 hours on the island, we wouldn't of booked this excursion.

Love the variety of activities and fun of the open bar in the sea. Only aspect not so great was being told it was all inclusive trip and then finding out a special drink on the island was extra. Don’t mind paying but would have been good to know as to bring more money

There was children on the trip .it states age 13+ and there was four kids on the trip under 6yrs of age . On the the speed boat back the music was so loud and dreadful it gave me bad ears for the rest of the night! It was dangerous loud! Also boat staff very unprofessional making rude gestures and started conflict with a family on the speed boat.. want my money back..

Our tour guide mesa was amazing. He kept us informed during the entire trip and he had a lovely sense of humor. The boat staff were just as good and ensured we were kept topped up with drinks etc. The swimming pool area was amazing with starfish visible, the ocean was gorgeous. We booked this by mistake as we really wanted to snorkel. In all, we got 20 minutes of snorkelling which was great but we assumed there would be sealife in the water at Saona. There wasn’t. Plenty of humans though! Saying that, the catamaran trip was really good fun thanks to the boat hand who got everyone dancing. The food and drink was average on the island. The beach was beautiful for the 2.5 hours we were there.

The whole day was organised well and were kept up to date with info through the excursion. However we were having a great day until the catamaran on the way back where we were subjected to ear piecing levels of music. My watch didn’t go much below 100db and for 2 hours this was unacceptable. At no point in the booking process or description it say anything about being blasted with music. We were not the only ones on the way back feeling like this, however felt we couldn’t say anything.

Long journey and having to keep being transferred. Long long day and took a long time to get back to our hotel as we were lastvdrop off . Food amazing loved it and choice of drinks were good. Nice smallish group and our guide was excellent. Very humble and very grateful. Down side everybody expected a tip on speed boat. Catamaran and guide. This is the second time we have done this trip and the island is beautiful. Not to busy as we went early.

TEAM CASCO! Guide amazing and fun from start to finish stayed with our group of 25 the whole day. Speed boat snorkeling natural pool private section of lounges on the island. Buffet lunch amazing. Speed boat going catermeran back, always offered drinks and had a sing along and party on way back. Defo recommend private as well planned small group compared to other people's experience of the cheaper option who we met on resort. Shout out to our guid Casco.

Our guide Danny (“The President”) was amazing! We started with snorkelling, there were so many fish to see and then a catamaran cruise to saona island. The staff were great constantly providing drinks and food and dancing. Saona island itself was stunning. We also bought fresh pineapple juice in pineapples which was so good. After about 3 hours on the beach we went to the natural swimming pool via speedboat where we got to swim and see/hold starfish. The trip was excellent value for money!

It was an overall lovely experience. The beach, lunch and attention to detail is first class. Short boat trip to the snorkelling stop which was a great experience, so much to see. The next stop nearer the island for swimming in shallow water to see starfish and Rays was also very good. It was a fast boat on the outward journey and the far more sedate catamaran on the inward leg. The whole day was exceptionally good , and it will stay with me a long time. Superb

Extremely overpriced ... guide talked about himself ... taken to private beach which was awful... guide sat under a shelter and didn't come near... awful food.. overpriced cocktail... the only good thing was the poor young man on the catamaranran around after us... charging 138 pound pp for this trip is disgusting... other guests booked through the hotel and paid 60 pound.. different beach and much better experience.. tui you should be ashamed

I personally don’t like loud music and rowdy tourists. But then I guess I should have paid for private boat trip. However it maybe an idea to offer a more quiet experience for people who don’t like to party, noise and drunk loud people. Neurodivergent people would appreciate quiet experience too

Perfect day in absolute paradise. Not too many people on the boat which was lovely as there was room to move on the boat and private beach was amazing. Best trip I’ve ever been on. Only downside was when we got food, there was a slug on the salad and almost ate it which was grim.

It was amazing, the tour guide was lovely and really cared about us having a good time. We snorkelled, went to the natural pools, and the island was just breathtaking. I would recommend this experience to everyone who wants to visit. Big shout out to Victor (Obama) who was our guide and was incredible throughout.

Walking back to the bus before heading back to the hotel was really overwhelming and wasn’t much structure as to finding it but other than that a beautiful day and experience. The tui worker who was with us on our trip was very informative and everyone we encountered on our trip was so friendly and really made the trip one to remember with their attitude and all around good vibes

Trip was brilliant , varied and very enjoyable. It was great to experience the snorkelling, sand bank and of course the beautiful island. The boats were great. All of the staff were great and worked hard in helping us relax and enjoy ourselves. Johnny our tour guide worked hard all day to orchestrate the day to make it great for all of us. The size of the group was just right. Only negative for the day was the length of day we were out - just over 13 hours from being picked up in the morning.

It is a long day of travelling but we did expect that from reviews. We were up and out of the hotel for 7:20am, took the coach (bus) to the peer. On speedboat for no longer than 2 minutes before having a snorkelling stop which was a little disappointing for all. We saw stripy fish but it was underwhelming. back on the boat after 10 mins and went saona which was gorgeous! No starfish though! Beautiful waist height sea and pina colada from pineapple ($10). Not ‘supreme’ but private beach was great

The snorkelling stop was not acceptable as it was a swim off the boat in the harbour with a few fish around. I was expecting a stop off near a reef to snorkel. The return boat trip in a “fast boat” was not good as many passengers got drenched from the spray, yet other types of boats looked ok, not practical having to sit on the coach for the return trip whilst getting the seats wet !!

The trip was fantastic, would give it 10/10 for everything apart from the fast boat part of the journey. It was uncomfortable, all squeezed on and getting drenched by sea water. Thankfully it was the way back but it certainly put a dampener on what was a great day. The staff on the Catamaran were brilliant, very entertaining!

Thoroughly enjoyed the trip- a great organised experience for all the family. The food on the island was plentiful and very good, as was the drinks and snacks on the boats. The only negatives I have would be the coach taking us to and from the trip was far too small, as in crammed seating, no leg room what so ever. For that length of journey a bigger coach would be better. Also maybe a warning from the tour guide that the port is very busy and can be overwhelming.

Only thing would’ve been was toctell us to bring some cash for example we wanted to get the pino colada from the locals on saona island we asked about paying via card but the rep said we could pay later but wasn’t made clear how exactly we could do that. But service was amazing still all of the boat people were helpful and provided excellent service. The tour guide as well was very nice and knew a lot of information

The trip was amazing, the island is so beautiful and we saw starfish! The only comment is that it would have been good if the catamaran was one of the ones with the netting you can sit on

Coach and boat rides very enjoyable Staff on island bang tips jar at you even if getting water. Food was exceptionally basic twice spaghetti overcooked meat however prawns and fish were good Island is over touristed making locals only interested in your money never mind the high premium for the day. Host and Boat staff were amazing

The trip was fantastic from the snorkelling to the boats to the private beach and the food. Nice authentic pina colada which was $10 extra which I think for the price of 6 tickets should have been included. The Catamaran on the way back was great with music and rum. Our 4 kids age range 18 -10 had a blast. It’ll certainly be an experience they’ll never forget.

The Saona Island trip was AMAZING, out of this world. The tui rep, I think his name was Raffiell? I'm sure that was his name, he was VERY GOOD! We felt safe all the time. The staff on the catererman boat and speed boat were good too. Kept filling our drinks up. We had a blast. Everything about the trip was beautiful, seeing the big star fish, the clear water, it was paradise. There isn't anything that you could improve on. 1000/1000. We would do it again 100%

Coach and speedboat had seen better days, boat was crammed full not an inch to spare. Natural pool beautiful best bit, the starfish we saw whilst whizzing along in the boat which is a shame, would have been nice to stop to see them properly. Beach was nice, toilets disgusting however

Boat trips to and from the island were really good. The staff in the catamaran were really good, got you involved in steering the boat, dancing and generally couldn’t do enough for you. The speedboat trip back couldn’t have been a polar opposite, the crew never spoke, just came round and poured a drink. The stop off on the shallow sand to see the star fish was really beautiful in turquoise clear water. The island itself was disappointing, food provided was poor and wife ended up with upset tummy

Sanoa island was beautiful however this trip is expensive for what you get! When we arrived at the port we got on a boat to the sail boat which we were then told this is where we were to snorkel for approx 10 mins and they boat staff were feeding the fish this was disappointing we then headed to the island! It rained but this cannot be helped, once we arrived at the island it was beautiful and we were left to enjoy the ocean and beach overall the trip was nice but not worth the price of £145pp

Crew were amazing, the multiple stops made it interesting, plenty of good quality food and drink. Timings were good. We were not very lucky on the first (deeper) snorkel stop in Bayahibe harbour, we expected more given it’s a famously well populated spot. Appreciate you can’t make the fish appear, but wonder if there’s a better spot for that first stop. As a good swimmer, I didn’t like having to wear the life jacket.

I enjoyed the day with my family and friends, our guide Olive was great, he was funny, friendly and very informative. However, the toilets on the island were awful, they weren't able to flush so this prevented me from drinking as much as i planned to as i didn't want to use the toilet again. All it would have taken was a hot bucket of water at least. The food wasn't the best, the prawns still had waste in them so it put me off my food. Other than that i had a nice day.

Excellent tour guide and friendly staff, kept us fed and watered with plenty to choose from during the excursion. Food on the island was really nice and I recommend you purchase the fresh pina colada’s $10USD the best you will ever have. Only reason I didn’t give it 10/10 is because it would have been nice to have a little more time on the beach it was only 2.5hrs and goes really fast after having lunch. The excursion is ALL DAY we got picked up from our hotel at 6:30am arrived bk at 7pm

The trip itself was fantastic. The island and natural pool were fantastic. Was disappointed by the snorkelling in “the coral reel” as we didn’t actually see any coral, just rocks and sea weed and a very small number of fish. The guide was rather boring, didn’t engage with any of us at all, wasn’t particularly fun and sounded like he was reading from a script. He also left the coach early before we had even got back to the hotels. The staff on the boat itself were much better.

We didn’t like being taken to a car park and left there for almost an hour before the trip coach picked us up or the unnecessary stop at a gift shop on the way home which wasn’t on the itinerary.

Guide Bobby J was full of energy and looked after us well. The locations and boat crews were fabulous. The facilities at the island were basic which you’d expect but not being able to flush either of the 2 toilets or wash your hands as taps didn’t work let this trip down. I accept basic standards because it’s a basic island but with the stomach bugs a lot of people have been suffering then unhygienic facilities are asking for trouble which is what I got within 24 hours of this trip!

Good trip but the motor speed boat is not ideal for elderly or young children it was very fast & bumpy when travelling to the sand bank. The stop at the shop is not required and adds more time onto the long day. Olive Oil the Tour Guide was excellent !

We did the same trip in 2019 and it was amazing this time not so much The speed boat home was not a speed boat like the one we had on the original trip this was unsafe boat that was so crammed and not what was expected

Good: A few reviews said the transfer time is long, but actually it was fine so do not let this put you off. We had 'Obama' as our tour guide & he was fantastic. I have never seen water so blue! New core memory - sat on boat, rum in hand, Bob Marley blaring, staring at this picture perfect sea & palm lined beach. Bliss. The food on the beach was fantastic. Bring 10usd for a Pina Colada. Worth it! Great day out. Bad: Did not see any starfish. Overpriced at £140pp. I'd expect to pay £80pp max.

My family and I have thoroughly enjoyed this day out to Saona Island. Although a very long day (just over 12 hours), it was brilliant, from start to finish. Great guide with very pertinent info about the island and the Dom Rep, fantastic boat staff, the snorkeling and swim in the natural pool was excellent and the island was a dream come true for us. Good lunch on the beach as well and an endless supply of drinks. Would highly recommend

Only 5 mins snorkelling. Too many people on catemaran. Guide on the bus was annoying waffling on for an hour rather than just properly telling us what was going to happen. Music on the bus too loud. Food not great. Beach was beautiful but 3 hours too long. Felt like constantly being asked for tips - driver, two different boats, buffet staff, bar staff. This trip was very expensive to have to pay out all those. Trip far too long, gift shop stop for 30 mins resulted in us missing dinner
