Ischia wordt gedomineerd door de Epomeo, een klein maar bergachtig eiland voor de noordpunt van de baai van Napels. Met bloeiende tuinen, kuuroorden en een prachtig landschap is het ook een heerlijke dagtocht vanuit Sorrento. Deze bestaat uit een schilderachtige rit, vrije tijd voor de lunch en de beroemde tuinen van La Mortella.Eerst op deze volledige dagtour is de overtocht met de vleugelboot van Sorrento naar het vulkanische Ischia. Bij aankomst leert u het eiland kennen met een panoramische rit om de hoogtepunten te zien. Er is een lunchpauze voor het volgende deel van de tour.In de namiddag zijn de subtropische tuinen van La Mortella de ster van de show. Ze werden aangelegd en gedurende tientallen jaren liefdevol verzorgd door de Engelse componist William Walton en zijn Argentijnse vrouw Susana, en er zijn meer dan 300 zeldzame en exotische planten te zien, samen met sierlijke beelden en watervallen. Bekijk het uitzicht vanaf de bovenste heuvel over de baai van Forio en geniet dan van meer vrije tijd tot het tijd is om weer aan boord van de boot te gaan.

The gardens are beautiful. It was a long day in high heat but worth it. The ferries don’t run often so our visit to the gardens was 2 hours but the day was actually 9 hours long with travel and photostops. The gardens are on a slope so there’s a bit of walking uphill however even if you just see the first bits it is still worth visiting. We didn’t opt in for the optional lunch and just had coffee then ate in cafe at gardens which was lovely. Our guide was really good

The whole experience was very good and our guide was very informative with all aspects of this delightful island. Sadly we're in our seventies and the weather was particularly hot so we couldn't get to see all of the gardens.

Het was volledig misgelopen 's morgens in de haven : er was geen gids aanwezig, en er was iemand die enkel italiaans sprak, die dan toch zeer last minute kaartjes heeft gekocht voor de boot naar Ischia, waardoor we letterlijk 1 min voor afvaart op de boot zijn moeten springen. En ook bij aankomst moesten we nog wachten op een gids+bus. De bus rond het eiland was redelijk goed, de tuinen waren wel top. De boot naar Sorrento was te laat. En bij terugkomst ook weer chaos bij transfer naar hotel.

This trip was absolutely brilliant, except for the meal. The bruschetta was almost inedible as it was so had and could not be cut. The price was astronomical was what was provided in an area where was not other food available. We were not advised that they would only take cash which was embarrassing for some people as they didn’t carry enough cash as they usually used cards. There was also no offer of change when paying.

Been before to the gardens which are exceptional. The tour if the island in the morning was an added bonus. The guide was very knowledgeable. The meal we paid extra for although in a lovely location was very basic and the wine not very good. Very overpriced for what we got as compared with the exceptional lunch which was included in the Pompeii trip.

Our guide for the day enhanced our enjoyment of our trip as her knowledge was exemplary. The tour of the island and lunch was excellent. However, the visit to Sir WilliamWalton Mortella gardens exceeded or expectations and is a must for any serious gardener. Would not have missed the tour for all the world.

De lunch was lekker en gezellig op een mooi terras. De tuinen van Mortella zijn echt de moeite waard. De rondrit van het eiland met het busje had geen meerwaarde. Het “verkoopspraatje” voor het eiland van de gids was op de duur irritant. Je kan dus ook zelf naar Ischia. De meerwaarde van de uitstap ligt in het comfortabel vervoer en de leuke lunch

The trip was well organised m. Travel arrangements went very well. I felt in safe hands with all aspects of the excursion well explained. The garden at Ischia was absolutely fantastic and I had plenty of free time to explore on my own. We stopped at a restaurant for lunch which was enjoyable but it was a set menu and I feel that more choice would have improved that part of the experience. Overall, a thoroughly enjoyable day out.

The group was way too big - 45 people. Only one guide who had a really tough job but even with all her efforts there was inevitable delay. Travel around the island would have been better in smaller vehicles rather than a big coach which struggled around some if the roads. Food quality at first stop wasn’t great - although view was lovely, but wished I’d just sat on the terrace with a drink and saved myself for the cafe in the gardens where food was less expensive and very nice. We felt the group size was too big approx 45 people with one guide, we didn’t have ear pieces so when she was walking and talking at the front of the group you couldn’t hear a word of what she was saying. We also had a lady with a mobility scooter in the group which significantly slowed us down, this trip shouldn’t have been sold to her as it wasn’t suitable for someone with disabilities. There was also long waits between meeting and the ferry crossing, especially on the way back approx 1.5hrs!

Really annoyed we wasted so much time in a meal, little alternative but to have meal as in deserted area. The meal was a disgrace and so so over priced. Would have preferred to eat within the gardens. Would have liked more time in the seaside towns. Garden visit would have been better in the morning when it was cooler and less time. Have done this Tui trip previously and it is no way as good as previously. Feel we were fleeced for money, very disappointed.

Liked the gardens a lot although probably should include within tour description the shear elevation which could cause issue for wheelchair/walking stick users. We were informed by the guide that the ONLY opportunity for lunch was at a taverna up the mountain, however, when we arrived at the gardens there was a restaurant offering a much wider selection of food and drink. Would suggest no stop at taverna but instead a stop at one of the towns with guided walk or free time to explore

I thought that the tour itself was good, a very pleasant island to visit. The guide was actually born on ischia, so had a good general knowledge of the area. It was a shame that there weren't more stops in the towns or for a bit longer. Lunch at the restaurant was nice but priced a little bit steeply although the cost was separate from the booking fee. The gardens were lovely and 2 hrs visit was probably about the right amount of time to see everything. All in all a nice trip.

The transfer driver was very rude and called me stupid. Left us at the port in the sun. He said the guide would be five minutes. 45mis later, we were still stood waiting. I had to call our hotel to find out where our guide was. If I had not rang, we were sure he would have gone without us. We only found him when the hotel told us we had a yellow lemon flag.

Too much travelling. My expectation was to reach the destinations per the imagery, have free time and straight to the gardens instead we travelled a lot by coach, stopped a cpl of time and then onto the only restaurant on the hill (whilst the views are amazing) and the vision of where I thought we were going then not having a choice of where to eat was disappointing

The lunch was good, but we were supposed to sit on a very cold, breezy terrace. No toilet paper. The gardens were beautiful but extremely steep. My husband has angina, so was unable to see a lot of it. The walk from the port to the coach was also really steep which caused him a real problem. I had asked the hotel rep at the hotel about the terrain, she said it was big, but didn't emphasise the steepness.

Hi good boat trip on ferry quite a long coach tour which also caught a lot of traffic and only one viewing stop . Lovely lunch and gardens in afternoon . The walk from port and back was quite long and down rickety steps and guide went at her pace there were two couples in group one with a man was partially blind- could easily have got left behind . When we went over traffic lights she took half the group and then the rest were left by a red light felt we needed one at back to check everyone ok

The trip on the hydrofoil was very smooth because the sea was calm. We enjoyed the coach tour as it gave us a good introduction to the island. We didn’t have lunch as we had brought our own and this gave us a chance to have a walk around the village and visit a Church. Thoroughly enjoying walking around the gardens.

No lunch stop and not explained properly. Too little time at the gardens. Unable to see 50% due to lack of time given. Should enter gardens through top gate and exit through lower gate. Garden website says minimum of 2 hours. Most of our time wasted walking to the coach and back. Too bigger coach used unable to access garden or port without long walk on hills. Time wasted at port. Hanging about in grubby cafe with no toilet facilities, broken. Advertised as hydrofoil crossing but went by ferry.

Pick up at Hotel was 50 minutes late by a person who did not know where we were going, which meant we nearly missed the ferry / trip. On arrival at the port the guide was not visible to give us the ferry tickets. We needed to search for the guide and made the ferry with 1 minute to spare. This caused so much stress. The set lunch was very poor, not worth 15 euros each, which we had to pay for on top of an expensive trip. Not able to choose the lunch ourselves. Toilet facilities very poor.

Really interesting trip, further improved by the knowledgeable and friendly guide. Day was well organised, with adequate time to fully appreciate the gardens and the stunning scenery. Would definitely recommend, with probably the only caution being that to get around the gardens there are some reasonably steep hills to navigate.

So glad we did this tour. Ischia is not as manic as Capri. As with all our Tui excursions, organisation and care for us was impeccable. Our guide was brilliant; humorous and informative. We never felt rushed. The gardens were very beautiful and interesting. We had a delightful afternoon tea in the gardens’ restaurant (not included). Only disappointment was the organised light lunch (extra) which we committed to on the day. It was expensive and unnecessary as we could have done our own thing.

Too much time spent in the gardens and at the wrong time of day. Excursion would be much better with spending some time actually in the island itself rather than being rushed onto a bus to travel to the top of a hill for a cold cut lunch which you'd no choice but to agree to

Really good way to get a taster of the island and a lovely added bonus was that the ferry stops at Procida so great for some quick pics. Downside is that the Ferry is very busy meaning you are generally waiting more than 30mins to an hour, in the heat before it arrives. There are shaded areas around at the port, but for elderly I'd be concerned about this. Gardens beautiful but again, a good level of fitness required to walk uphill in the heat.

An overall excellent trip ending at the La Mortella gardens. TUI need to amend the timing of the trip, as it stated 8 hours, but realistically was 11 hours long. This wasn't an issue with us, but of course would be if people had other things arranged later in the day.

Very long day, would prefer to visit the gardens in the morning and have a little longer there, rather than driving round. Lunch was OK but our small family group of 3 were unable to sit together, so not ideal and not great value for money, particularly for anyone not drinking the wine.

Beautiful gardens included and a great guide who looked after us during the trip. Only down side is that there is quite a bit of waiting around particularly waiting for the return ferry. Overall though good excursion.

This trip should be viewed as an adventure travelling by ferry across the bay of Naples passing Capri on the way. Otherwise it is quite a long day with lots of climbing steps to view the gardens which are sensational. If you are not interested in the gardens then this trip is not for you.

We enjoyed the trip to ISCHIA and the Mortedella gardens tour. It was a really lovely trip however it was a very long day. We had to wait a long time for the ferry to take us back and we were too late for our meal at the hotel. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and certainly knew everything we asked. I would certainly tell people about the length of time the trip takes.

We thoroughly enjoyed this tour particularly La Mortella Gardens which was like a slice of paradise. Our guide Mariarosaria was very good in dealing with unexpected delays i.e. the ferry leaving the Island was 2 hours late. She had our best interests at heart. Having lunch as an option was preferable to us.

Over het algemeen een leuke dag, maar enkele belangrijke opmerkingen - als je verblijft in Villa Fernanda in Sant Agatha, word je niet opgehaald in je hotel maar moet je zelf naar de dichtstbijzijnde ophaalplaats gaan, 20 minuten wandelen langs drukke hoofdweg zonder voetpad , en bovendien geldt dat voor de terugrit 's avonds... absoluut klantonvriendelijk, des te meer omdat alle andere klanten WEL aan hun hotel werden opgehaald en gebracht -boot bij terugkomst 2 uur te laat !!!

We really enjoyed seeing all the delights of Ischia and the light lunch we had at it’s highest point was especially memorable, with the most amazing views. The visit to the beautiful and serene Mortella Gardens are an absolute must for any visiter; again, with stunning views from the top. The guide we had (Thurs 10/8) was incredibly professional and deeply concerned for the welfare of her Tui Family. She was extremely informative and generous with her time. A real credit to Tui.

The gardens were beautiful and I enjoyed our free time in there. I would have liked more free time to spend around the port area and to be able to chose a restaurant there to eat instead of the bus taking us to a restaurant with a set menu, although the views from the restaurant were amazing. It just seemed a lot of travelling before we got to the gardens, with the mini bus to the harbour in Sorrento, then the boat trip, then virtually straight on another bus to the restaurant for lunch

Excellent guide. Enjoyed tour, and lunch stop with wonderful views. Gardens lovely with excellent tea rooms but visit there far too long. Would have appreciated short drive to see view of one of the best features of Ischia - Castello Aragonese from Ischia Point.

Well where does one begin with this one . On arrival at Sorrento to catch the ferry it was absolute chaos. A lady fell of the bus and hurt herself the driver was told but seemed to show no concern . The guide turned up she was so out of her depth .We eventually boarded the ferry which was tiny and overcrowded . After an hour on the ferry we were route marched a hill quickly to board a coach . We were under the impression we would have free time to explore Ischia we had none . The Gardens lovely

The tour guide didn’t wait for the group as a whole before speaking so didn’t really know what had been said. We had to wait 30 minutes for a coach to take us back to our hotel even though they knew the time the boat was due in.. The gardens were lovely.

We had to wait nearly half an hour for the return coach. The boat back was late so really this equated to about50 minutes! We were tired and quite cold at that time. Very poor.

Another wonderful TUI tour. Roberta was a wonderful host. The only suggested improvement is increase the cost slightly and include the lunch for free - I think this is a selling point, especially as the lunch is at a pre-determined destination and with a pre-determined menu.

You start with a boat ride plenty of seats up and down The island it self is very nice , would have liked more time to explore. The gardens are very well layed out best going in flowering season. Down side only 1 place to eat head there first or you won't get a seat. All in all a good day out

Guide was excellent. Knowledgeable, friendly and approachable. Gardens were fantastic and we had the right amount of time to look around and get some food in the restaurant; food was great, but be aware that the restaurant was busy so we had to come back later to eat. The “official” lunch stop was a bit limited…a set meal which included wine which I felt was a bit overpriced, especially if you don’t really want alcohol at lunchtime. Overall though we loved the trip.

Si vous y allez pour les jardins, c'est parfait car il y a suffisamment de temps pour les parcourir. Personnellement j'ai déploré le peu de temps consacré à la visite de l'île, très peu d'arrêts et un tour vite expédié. Supprimer l'arrêt pour manger vers 11.15 h. serait déjà une bonne chose pour allonger la visite de l'île.

Stay at garden too long. Stops poor. Would have liked to visit a thermal spa. No public toilets on organised stops rude bar staff in bongo bar. After guide told us we could use toilets. Not very welcoming for first stop. I wouldn't recommend this excursion.
