The desolate beauty of inland Sal is in stark contrast to the white sands of its coast. On this off-road safari, you'll explore Murdeira Bay, the Buracona lagoon, the ocean-like sands of Terra Boa and Pedra de Lume. Beyond the most popular sights, you'll also get a glimpse of local life in Palmeira and Espargos. Rodrigo, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘I've lived on Sal all my life, and I'm still fascinated by my island's colourful street art. It's a vivid reflection of our culture and our daily lives.'Starting with a pit stop at Murdeira Bay, you'll trundle off in a closed 4x4 – we're the only ones using covered off-roaders – to the fishing village of Palmeira on the west coast. Its palm tree-lined streets are dotted with mural-painted cafés and tiny shops. Rodrigo says, ‘Palmeira's kaleidoscopic – and cluttered – souvenir shops are an attraction in themselves.' Then it's on to the Buracona lagoon, famed for how it shimmers when hit by sunlight.Next, you'll witness the ocean-like sands and mirage of Terra Boa. An optical phenomenon, in which hot rays of light reflect distant objects and the sky, creates the illusion of a desert lake. Back on the road, there's a pit stop at a viewpoint, where you can enjoy an elevated panorama of Espargos, the island's capital. Wind down with a natural spa treatment in the Dead Sea-like lagoon of Pedra de Lume. Floating in one of the world's saltiest waters and inside an extinct volcano crater is a buoyant way to end the tour. What is the itinerary for this experience? This experience is available as a morning or afternoon tour, so the itinerary timings change depending on which one you pick. Morning option:- 8:00am – pick-up from your hotel- 8:15am – transfer to Murdeira Bay- 8:30am to 8:45am – continue to Palmeira for a visit to the fisherman's village- 9:15am to 9:30pm – transfer to Buracona lagoon with a chance to see the Blue Eye- 10:10am to 10:20am – travel to Terra Boa with a photo stop at the Mirage- 10:20am to 10:35am – proceed to Salinas Pedra de Lume and the Salt Lakes- 10:35am to 11:15am – entrance to the Salt Lakes and time for swimming- 11:20am to 12:00pm – transfer back to your hotel----------Afternoon option:- 1:30pm – pick up from your hotel- 1:45pm – transfer to Murdeira Bay- 2:00pm to 2:15pm – continue to Palmeira for a visit to the fisherman's village- 2:45pm to 3:00pm – transfer to Buracona lagoon with a chance to see the Blue Eye- 3:40pm to 3:50pm – travel to Terra Boa with a photo stop at the Mirage- 3:50pm to 4:05pm – proceed to Salinas Pedra de Lume and the Salt Lakes- 4:05pm to 4:45pm – entrance to the Salt Lakes and time for swimming- 4:45pm to 5:30pm – transfer back to your hotel

The views were beautiful but the blue eye not seen nor the mirage. The guide was friendly and alcohol tasting was interesting. However the land rover despite several full view signs on all the windows to wear a seat belt THERE WERE NO SEAT BELTS except for elderly lady in front next to driver. This was very dangerous as speeds of 50 miles an hour plus were noted on and off road and should an accident have occurred the danger to life and resultant injuries would have been unquestionably DIRE

Due to my recent spine operation and our ages 75+ I specifically asked about comfort of vehicle and off roading. Was informed that trip was on roads. Roads are poor beyond airport but there is a lot of driving on sandy dirt stretches. Very bumpy and jarring. Seats were only approximately 100cm off the floor and access and leaving was not easy via rear door. We enjoyed what we saw and driver very helpful.

Das war echt Mega schön Bruna hat uns alles toll erklärt auf jede Frage eine super interessante Antwort die auch auf die Menschen der Insel eingingen beide Bruba und auch yigor sind super auf unseren Sohn eingegangen er ist Autist und er hat sie beide gleich in sein Herz eingeschlossen was echt selten ist ich würde diese Fahrt mit den beiden immer wider machen und Freunden und bekannten immer empfehlen mit den beiden zu fahren er fährt super und grade Bruna mit ihrer herzlichen Art einfach toll

Didn't like the seating arrangement in the 4 x 4. Difficult to sit and to get in and out of back. The "Blue Hole" - it was out of season so this shouldn't have been offered as part of the tour. We could have been offered a drink of water. The tour guide was extremely friendly but could have spoken a bit more English. Length of tour good. Places visited were interesting. Pleasant experience.

Sehr angenehm, dass die Tour in deutscher Sprache durchgeführt wurde, sowohl Guide als auch Fahrer sehr professionell. Lediglich der Ein- und Ausstieg in den Jeep war für ältere Menschen kompliziert, eine kleine transportabel Bank oder ein Auftritt wäre äußerst hilfreich.

Man sitzt sich im Wagen gegenüber, das bedeutet, dass das Fahrerlebnis anstrengender ist. Es wäre besser auf Sitzen unterwegs zu sein, die nach vorne weisen. Sonst alles sehr gut.

Beginn der Tour zu zeitig, das Blaue Auge ist ab Mittag erst zu sehen. Alles im Schnelldurchlauf. Wir kennen die Sehenswürdigkeiten, für neue Gäste, ergab sich kaum die Möglichkeit in der Saline zu baden. Fazit, etwas später beginnen und etwas später die Tour beenden, es bleibt für die Gäste genügend Zeit in ihren Hotels mittags zu essen.

Eddie our guide and Gary our driver were great. Highly recommend, on time and informative. Even though we didn’t see the best mirage or the blue water in the hole due to the time of year. The experience was worth it. Eddie did tell us due to winter months it’s not possible as the sun needs to be high & when we done the tour it was very cloudy, great seeing where Eddie grew up to and how they lived

De gids Lucy deed het voortreffelijk! De info en weetjes op de stopplaatsen bracht zij op een interessante, vrolijke en een niet te vergeten manier! Lucy the tour guide was amazing. She was knowledable, fun and just brought joy to the experience. She was so very clearly just being herself and that made it even better. While the blue eye part of the experience is pending weather, it was clear that it wouldn't be visible during the morning because of the height of the sun. Therefore why is this on visits at that time in the morning? Felt like a waste

Over all the experience was great. Our guide Stephen was very good with great information about each area we visited. The only thing would would say that could improve the over all experience would be to advise people to wear crocs or the like for the bathing part of the experience as the rocks going into and coming out were agony under foot.

To be honest it did not live up to expctations ... The one thing that really let the experience down was the driver of the 4x4 ...... He was obviously a lewis hamilton wonnabe . Driving was awful keeping in mind most of the terrain is uneven roads and not to mention the off roading truly awful ... spoild the middle part of our holiday with suffering a bad back after we got back to our hotel . Not good ... but the guide was excelent

Verwendete Fahrzeuge sind ungeeignet für ältere Menschen mit Knie Problemen. Aufenthalt am Salzsee zu kurz. Besuch am blauen Auge wenn nur schwarzes Auge zu sehen ist wenig sinnvoll. Besuch Fatamorgana ist auch Grenzlastig. Nicht wirklich eine Sehenswürdigkeit.

Het eiland Sal is gewoon niet zo veel. Dus logisch dat de excursie eigenlijk ook niet zo veel voorstelt. Halve dag is echt genoeg. De eerste stop is wat mij betreft overbodig. Je kunt de feiten ook vertellen terwijl je langs rijdt. De andere locaties zijn wel aardig.

Es sind alle interessanten Sehenswürdigkeiten angefahren worden, wir hatten überall genügend Zeit und die Geschichte der kapverdischen Inseln wurde gut erklärt. Einzig in dem Fischerdorf Palmeira wäre etwas mehr Zeit schön gewesen.

Wir haben interessante Informationen über Kapverden und Sal speziell bekommen. Da es früh die erste Tour war, war es zum Glück an den einzelnen Stopps noch nicht so überfüllt. Von den Sehenswürdigkeiten hatten wir mehr erwartet. Bemängeln möchten wir, dass das Fahrzeug mit 8 Gästen zu überfüllt war (kaum Platz zum Sitzen und für's Gepäck). Das Ein- und Aussteigen war auf dem zu schmalen Tritt sehr unsicher (bin leider auch abgerutscht und habe mich dabei verletzt und mein Smartphone beschädigt)

Stephan the guide was very informative, it lovely to see the old fishing village keeping the old traditions alive, and we wasn’t harassed by the locals. It was a very enjoyable morning.

Leuke excursies voor een halve dag. Zit je achterin de jeep dan wordt je aardig door elkaar geschut, moet je wel tegen kunnen. Onze gids was heel leuk, sprak goed Engels en kon veel leuke dingen vertellen over het eiland. Het zoutmeer viel beetje tegen maar oké om gedaan te hebben. Wij hadden tussendoor ook gelegenheid om iets te drinken te kopen ( maar zelf meenemen handig) en toilet bezoeken. Al met al leuke middag gehad.

Tour guide was great znd very knowlddgeBle. The salt floating was brilliant experience . Blue eye was a must see sight . The fishing village and local imigrant camp was an insight into how locals live . And earn their living . Was eye opening . Very enjoyable day . Shouldnt be missed . ??

Es macht keinen Sinn das blaue Auge morgens zu besuchen wenn man genau weiß das es nur Mittags sichtbar ist. Man sollte das blaue Auge ans Ende der Tour legen.

Only I part of this trip was worth seeing. That’s the salt mine. The rest was not visible due to position of sun.tour operator should have known that. Also not able to swim because waves were to strong. ??

Fin tur, akkurat passe lang og fikk sett de stedene jeg var mest interessert i som saltsjøene. Kunne vært mer tid på saøtsjøen for bading. Kunnskapsrik guide Florentine gjorde det til en fin dag.
