With its blend of African, Brazilian and Portuguese influences, Boa Vista's capital, Sal Rei, is a riot of colour. On this exclusive tour, you'll sample Cape Verdean specialities, visit markets vibrant with local life and enjoy a guided tour of the town's most interesting locations. Artur, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Sal Rei is Portuguese for Salt King, which tells you all you need to know about what the town was once famous for. You'll see salt pans around the capital, though most are no longer in use. Some around the fringes of town have even been built on.'First up is a trip to the recently restored Fatima chapel – a windswept sanctuary with a beautiful simplicity on a rocky bluff just north of Sal Rei. From here, you can take in the views over the coast towards the capital. Next, we'll explore the island's past in both the Sea and Shipwreck Museums. Admire a collection of exhibits from underwater archaeological finds and artworks that reflect on the history, art and culture of the Cape Verdean people.We dial the volume up a bit next with a visit to the market. Mingle with locals as you browse the handmade jewellery, clothing and fresh produce on display. Take a walk along Praia de Diante beach before trying Cape Verdean cocktails and tasty specialities at Sodade House of Culture. Finally, there's free time to explore this appealing little town at your own pace – visit the pretty church of St Isabel or head to one of Sal Rei's great beaches for a paddle or a coffee with a view.

The tour was good overall and it was nice to see some of the island and history. The museum tour took longer than they had allowed for so had to cut some bits short. The food tasting was great. Our your guide Manu was excellent.

Not an enjoyable place to visit. Dirty and unkept place. Did not see the reason that TUI was of the view that visiting shanti towns as a sightseeing place. Buildings were falling down. In that respect did not feel safe. I am in the construction business.

Onze reisgids stelde zich niet eens voor gaf ons de indruk een hekel te hebben aan toeristen en dat hij zich met de plaatselijke bevolking een voelde. Wij kregen weinig input en moesten eigenlijk alles zelf vragen. Wij hadden ons veel meer voorgesteld van de plaatselijke proeverijen. Dit laatste was erg teleurstellend.

Tour Guide Beggy war toll. Etwas mehr Zeit an der Kapelle Fatima wäre schön gewesen. Interessant auch die beiden kleinen Museen mit den Einblicken. Sal Rei selbst eine einzige Baustelle leider. No Stress war leider nicht gegeben wegen des straffen Programm. Aber alles in allem ??

Man merkt hier halt den Veranstalter... Schnell schnell... Ab zum nächsten Punkt... Verkostigung ? Frechheit nenn ich das. Im Bus wird ein Brunch angeboten, ein 2. Frühstück. Kalten Kaffee, bisl Ziegenkäse, Kuskus in kleiner Varinte, Sandkekse sowie ein Gebäck mit Thunfisch Creme sowie Hibiskussaft. Die Gruppe bestand aus 14 Leuten.... Nein Danke ! Da bestell ich lieber bei ner Einheimischen Tour Truppe nächstes Mal....

De gids was goed geïnformeerd, aardig, vriendelijk en kon beeldend vertellen. De host bij de Fatimakerk informeerde ons goed. De chauffeur reed veilig. Alleen de lokale snacks waren prima maar niet bijzonder zowel qua formaat als hoeeveelheid: een beetje matig.

Es war im großen und Ganzen eine sehr schöne Tour, mit vielen Ereignissen und Eindrücken.Sehr viel Information wobei man sich doch so einiges zusammen Reimen musste.Die Tour war eigentlich in Deutsch gebucht , aber in den Museen wurde dann doch alles auf Englisch erklärt, erzählt . Da unser Englisch eher schlecht ist , haben wir auch nur einen geringen Bruchteil verstanden.??

Wilson was fantastic and we really enjoyed the tour, especially the shipwreck museum. However, during our free time we felt quite unsafe especially at the market (being led into a back room and exit blocked). The locals seem very friendly at first but if you do not buy this can quickly change. We wish that we had been warned about what to expect.

We felt the Senegalese traders in the African Market very pushey and intimidating. What was a pleasant trip was spoiled by the market visit. Also disappointed that the Fatima Chapel was locked up after climbing a considerable number of steps, which also was not suitable for people with walking difficulties.

Paulo, the guide, was excellent providing a great deal of information with good humour too. The tour was very interesting with stops at two small but valuable museums and a beautiful venue for snacks and coffee. All in all, a morning very well spent.

Certainly! Here’s a polished version of your review: ? Very Disappointing Hotel Experience The flight and transport to the hotel were both good, which gave us hope for a pleasant holiday. Unfortunately, things went downhill from the moment we arrived at the hotel. The reception staff were very unhelpful and disorganised, setting a poor tone for the rest of our stay. We had paid extra for a sea view room, but the room was full of flies, the safe wasn’t working, and the shower was broken.

9 Personen in einen alten Land cruiser zu quetschen und der Guite fährt im anderen Fahrzeug und erzählte dort ist eine Fehlplanung. Und das ganze weil kein Bus für alle da war die die Reise gebucht haben. Leider saßen wir für 12 Euro mehr im Landi. Englisch ist auch Pflicht nicht alles war in Deutsch. Kann man buchen das Museum über boa vista war mein Highlight.

Het was vooral leuk om wat meer te leren over de geschiedenis en de cultuur van het eiland. De hapjes en drankjes waren erg lekker en we hebben vooral een hele leuke ochtend gehad. Het museum van de zee vonden wij wat minder, qua educatieve inhoud, maar het was zeker een indrukwekkende verzameling.

ENJOYED: Wonderful guide Vannie ??. Informative information regarding share town, social housing. Local area information. Museum was fantastic. Local tasting fantastic. Whole experience was enjoyable and informative. DIDNT LIKE:: The visit to the market - food area good. The rest we were hassled to buy and look in small units at the market, which was stressful. I would have purchased goods had I been permitted to browse, so the sellers lost out by hassling.??

Eerste museum (zeemuseum) is compleet overbodig en zinloos. Tweede museum was zeer mooi met super interessante informatie. Vrije tijd in Sal rei was te kort + spijtig dat we bij een markt van Senegalezen werden gedropt.
