With bright coastal views, the rippling desert of Morro de Areia is the perfect place to get the adrenaline pumping with a 90-minute sandboarding experience. Boa Vista, which means "good view" in Portuguese, is the easternmost island of Cape Verde. It's known for its great beaches and patches of desert landscape. Jose, one of our expert local guides, says, 'Prepare to get very sandy on this exhilarating trip into Boa Vista's beautiful seaside nature reserve. But getting sandy is all part of the fun as you whizz down and clamber up the dunes.'Morro de Areia is one of the most prominent dune systems on the island and is especially known for its pristine and shifting sands. The scenic sand dunes that line the coast of Boa Vista have the added advantage that you can often see the coast from the higher dunes, and Morro de Areia is no exception. Sit back and enjoy the ride as you drive out across the sands, it's an exciting trip for both adults and kids as you roar across the dunes. The wild surroundings and fabulous views make the perfect backdrop for some unbridled fun. After a safety briefing and demonstration from your friendly instructors, have a go at surfing the dunes yourself. It's a brilliant way to get out into nature and see a different side of the island while enjoying a new experience which will have all the family whooping with excitement. Half-time refreshments are provided so you can rest and enjoy the sea view.

While being driven to and from the excursion the driver had no thought of us as passengers. He drove erratically and really fast, especially having two young children on board. Even though they were both wearing seat belts it was a frightening experience for all of us. When approaching the sand dunes he drove even more erratically, almost losing control as we stopped near the edge. The sand boarding was great fun though, enjoyed by all.

It was a fun experience with great views from the top of the dunes although quite tiring for some of the group with the climbing back up the hill after the ride. Only issue is I paid for the photos but have yet to receive them from the photographer.

This was a fun trip and my kids had fun. There were nine of us in total but only eight boarding. It wasn’t 90 minutes….was an hour max. When we got to the ovation we had to wait some time for the boards to arrive (a 4x4 arrived with four men in who brought boards and a camera and water). It’s a pretty bumpy ride to get to the desert, so bear that in mind. It was a fun experience and the kids loved it. The photos from the four guys who arrived were decently priced at €20 for all the photos.

We took our 8 month old baby and they were very accommodating letting us go half way down the banking. Was a lot of fun and some great photos too! Only comment would be there was a seat in the front which would have been great to use with the baby rather than squeezed into the back of the truck but overall it was a lot of fun

We loved the whole experience. Guides were all lovely and enthusiastic. They offered great advice and were extremely supportive. If I had to find one thing I felt could be better it would be the boards. They were a bit old and not a great design.

No communication regarding ability of individuals. Get on the board on a high slope with steep incline. No chance to say, I don't feel ready to do that. I female was given 121 tuition on how to stand up, leaving 1 board for 9 people to share.

Het was leuk en ook op een zeer mooie locatie, maar na een aantal keren naar beneden glijden heb je het dan ook gehad. Dit is interessant voor degene die graag een iets rustigere excursie doen, voor de actieve vakantieganger is dit te weinig. Je moet een goede conditie hebben om elke terug de stijle berg op te wandelen in het zand en in volle zon. We vonden het al bij al een fijne ervaring, al zie je daar minder van de omgeving aangezien je op 1 plaats blijft.

4 boards between 20 people just doesn’t work, An awful lot of standing around waiting, for the opportunity to participate. Wouldn’t recommend if you want more than a couple of goes, had the opportunity to undertake the activity when everyone else were tired of walking back up the sand dunes and the children in the group were bored.

The transfer there and back is just as fun as the surfing! Our guide was lovely and friendly. The view from the dunes is amazing, the sand doesn’t look real. It’s such good fun and was a great afternoon out of the hotel. There’s nothing there, so take water; you’ll need it :) Photos by the guys are top quality, we bought them and they email them to you, definitely a great trip out.

Einfach super. Es ist das Geld auf jeden Fall wert, auch wenn nicht billig, denn so was erlebt man einfach nicht jeden Tag. Es stehen 4 Boards zurück Verfügung. Am Anfang muss man halt etwas warten bis man dran kommt, aber spätestens nach der zweiten bzw dritten Runde, wollen gar nicht mehr so viel Leute fahren. Immerhin muss man nach der Abfahrt wieder nach oben gehen. Es werden auch vor Ort richtig tolle Fotos gemacht.

It was very windy and I would not recommend windy weather, sand whipping into legs, eyes etc for young children. (10yrs and up I think wouldn’t complain) Brilliant experience. You do need to be physically fit to climb the hill over and over but an exhilarating experience going down. Family of 50-60 and children 10-12years. Drinks were appreciated and photos albeit pricey but well worth it (£25)

Die Boards sind in einem schlechten Zustand, zu wenige Boards. Der Fahrer hat nicht viel gesprochen, ist ein bisschen in den Dünen gefahren, das Event ist eigentlich weniger als 2 Stunden lang, es wird "hinausgezögert". Ich würde sagen 20 Euro pro Person ist okey.

The staff and setting were great. There was not enough equipment for the amount of people on the trip which, in turn, caused a lot of waiting around. Felt slightly over priced as it was a 5 min drive away and the session was very basic. Adding photos on as an extra cost too is annoying when paying so much

Spannendes Erlebnis wenn man sowas noch nicht gemacht hat. Zeit zwischen Abholung und Rückkehr im Hotel waren „nur“ 90 Minuten, die am Ende aber auch gereicht haben. Leider durfte man anders als die Bilder vermuten lassen nur sitzend fahren und nicht stehen (Sicherheit). Im Sand berghoch laufen kann schnell anstrengend werden, für Getränke und Fotos (gegen Auspreis) wird gesorgt

Very friendly and helpful staff. The location was absolutely breathtaking. Nothing was too much trouble for any staff member. Refreshments were a great idea after a few runs up and down the dune. A fantastic experience set across the beautiful sand dunes. A wonderful view to be had and the boarding itself great fun. My two children (5/10) could not get enough of it. Really friendly (local) guides helping you and the drive to the dunes in a Tui 4x4 jeep was just as much fun too!! Highly recommend for a short trip out of the hotel with children.

Leider gab es für zu viele Gäste / Teilnehmer zu wenig Boards. Hier hätte jeder sein eigenes Board haben müssen. Es wäre außerdem besser und sinnvoller gewesen wenn es mehrere Strecken gegeben hätte, auf denen man fahren könnte. Es hätten sich somit die Teilnehmer besser auf das Event verteilen können. Somit war sehr wenig Vielfalt vorhanden. Wir würden dieses Event für 30 Euro nicht noch einmal buchen und auch nicht weiter empfehlen.

Het was een leuke ervaring op een adembenemende locatie. Het glijden ging zeer vlot, maar wees je ervan bewust dat je ook terug naar boven moet. De klim in de vlakke zon meermaals na elkaar doen, vraagt een serieuze inspanning.

Erg leuk uitje om te doen. Eerst met een 4x4 rijd je door een afgelegen gebied om te eindigen in een duingedeelte met mooi uitzicht op de oceaan. Onder je zie je het patroon van afgelegen zandduinen. Vanaf deze plek ga je naar beneden glijden over het zand. Ondertussen drink je iets en na een ruim uur vertrek je weer om teruggebracht te worden naar je hotel. Aanrader voor iedereen die wel gezond is van lijf en leden want je loopt iedere keer weer naar boven door het mulle zand.

Great experience. Around a 15 minute drive from the RIU Karamboa, guide was great once we arrived. Can have as many turns on the sandboard, refreshments provided also. There was also a chance to purchase photos which were great. 10/10 trip.

De Sandboarding Experience is een geweldige ervaring die jeugdig enthousiasme in je naar boven haalt. Sandboarding is gemakkelijk te leren en de begeleiding van de trip was prima. Het is heerlijk om van een flinke duin af te roetsjen, en nog een keer, en nog een keer. Omdat je steeds weer zelf de duin op moet klauteren krijg je gelijk een portie cardio. Je komt helemaal afgetraind en vol adrenaline weer terug op het resort. En dan lekker met een cocktail in de jacuzzi.

this was a great little trip, we both had fun. it's a bumpy and hot ride in the jeep to the location but it doesn't take too long. you get a cooled drink included. the sand can blow up and whip you a bit ( that's out of anyone's control). you need good legs to climb back up the dunes to slide down again.

A fun morning keeping the kids active and entertained. Where a full day out is too long, this provides a few hours to step away from the hotel pool and try something different. The transfer was in one of the many TUI jeeps you see around, it was a fun ride to the site of the sandboarding. The instructions were simple, and the guides were fully engaged with us. The view was phenomenal, and after the walk back up the dune, drinks were provided. A very fun, active, and memorable few hours.

As with everybody we have met in Cape Verde the people that led this trip were super friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. We all had a great time and that's no mean feat with a group of five ranging from 8 to 44 including two grumpy teenagers...everyone came back smiling.

Activité énergisante. Équipe SandBoarding avec une énergie très positive et souriante. ********** explication et nous avons été très motivées à participer. Très ********** première expérience. Les photos étaient top. Nous gardons un très bon souvenir. Le chauffeur très courtois et souriant, avec une ********** maîtrise du véhicule.

Guide und Personal super nett und hilfsbereit! Getränke wurden bereitgestellt. Sandboarding hat sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Man wird voller Sand und sollte für Sonnenschutz sorgen. Weg nach oben ist nach mehrmaligen gehen anstrengend, also man sollte einigermaßen fit sein. Anstelle von 2 Brettern wären 3-4 fur weniger Wartezeit besser gewesen. Man durfte verschiedene Positionen und Varianten ausprobieren und wurden erklärt. Fotos wurden gemacht und konnten gekauft werden.

This was a brilliant fun trip to do. Really great value for money. The guides were brilliant. Really friendly and helpful and the pictures they took (optional extra) were also great. Some fab action shots in there. Also on top of Sandboarding there were also some spectacular views of the island. Would definitely recommend.

We had such a great time, my kids found it the best ever but my wife’s knees did not like walking back up but we all did it lots of times

We all really enjoyed the sandboarding. The only negative is that we paid for the photos and when they arrive via email link yesterday the majority of the photos were of a different family, I’ve emailed them requesting that they send the correct link but we’ve not heard back from them as yet. Is this something TUI could assist us with sorting out?
