What to expect
Looking to take a deep dive into Treviso’s sightseeing scene during your holiday to this iconic Italian city? Say no more. This two-hour guided tour ticks off a bunch of the city’s biggest and best landmarks, from Medieval-era churches and a fish market to a palace and a piazza. Enzo, one of our expert local guides, says “this tour weaves a selection of major landmarks with some of Treviso’s lesser-known spots, so you can really get under the skin of what the city has to offer. Plus, all the guides know their stuff, so you can be sure you’ll come away with loads of interesting info.”Your first stop is the Loggia dei Cavalieri, a Medieval-era lodge that’s decked out with colourful frescoes themed around the Middle Ages. From here, you’ll feel like a local as you follow your guide along the banks of the River Sile as you make your way to the Latin Quarter. Folks in Treviso are big fans of strolls along the Restera, a nature-lined path that was originally built so people could tow boats upstream. When you’re done checking out the university at the Latin Quarter, you’ll visit a few of the city’s big-name landmarks, like the Bridge of the Impossible, Fish Market Island and the Church of San Francesco. You’ll also stop at the Fontana delle Tette, a 15th-century fountain where you can grab a quick drink. Lastly, you’ll check out the snazzy Piazza dei Signori – in the heart of the city – and the 700-year-old Palazzo dei Trecento. After the tour, your guide will be on hand to point out a good place for a bite to eat – tiramisu was invented in Treviso, just saying.
