What to expect
The Algarve is famed for its beautiful beaches, yet its countryside is also filled with little gems. On this exclusive tour, you'll head into the Monchique Mountains to visit the history-steeped towns of Silves and Monchique as well as Mt Foia. Plus, you'll taste some local treats along the way.First up is Silves, in the heart of the orange-growing country at the foot of the highlands. You'll climb up its castle to admire the views, learn about its Moorish past and enjoy a cake and orange juice in its café. We'll then continue the excursion deep into the Monchique Mountains, where we'll stop in a restaurant for lunch.Next is Mt Foia, the Algarve's highest point. Here, you can enjoy panoramic views over the countryside. You'll also drop into a shop for a liqueur tasting. Then, it's on to Monchique to explore its cobbled streets and traditional shops. Rounding off the day is Caldas de Monchique for a guided walk through a garden rich in the area's endemic trees as well as a mineral water tasting.

We hebben zeer genoten van deze excursie! De gids Anna sprak goed Engels en Duits en wist t het zeer boeiend te vertellen! De inbegrepen lunch was ook erg lekker! Onze reisleidster Guadeloupe raadde ons deze excursie enthousiast aan en heeft niets te veel gezegd! Zeer de moeite waard!

We had an amazing time on this trip - would highly recommend! Lots of extras included which we weren’t expecting and which really made the day special. Eating orange cake in the castle and drinking liqueur at the top of the mountain, plus a delicious meal with incredible views. Our guide, Anna, brought the journey to life and was able to convey her love of the countryside and history. Dress comfortably and have water with you to stay hydrated. If you are only doing 1 trip - do this one!

Lunch was good as was the guide but was more quite steep walking than expected at times and had no free time at all. The end of the tour visiting the waterfalls was disappointing and drawn out with a long walk at the end of it

Die Tour war sehr schön, es wurde viel erklärt. Wir haben viel gesehen und die kleinen Überraschungen haben uns sehr gefallen. Leider, wie auch schon beim letzten Ausflug waren die Zeiten, um alles auf eigene Faust zu erkunden viel zu kurz. Die Reiseleiterin war sehr nett und zuvorkommend.

Unser Tourguide Anna war sehr ortskundig und konnte uns viel über die jeweilige Gegend und die Natur erzählen. Sie spricht englisch und deutsch fließend. Die Schnapsprobe auf dem Berg Monchique war super lecker und das Essen im Paraiso de Montanha ebenso. Hier konnte die Bedienung auch englisch (eine sehr alte Dame), dass war beeindruckend. Alles in allem war der Ausflug sehr schön.

Le guide était très intéressant et sympathique mais le fait que l'excursion soit pour les français et les anglais en même temps engendre une perte de temps considérable puisque le guide doit tout expliquer dans les deux langues. De ce fait, beaucoup d'attente dans le château pour entendre la version française puisqu'elle alterne avec l'anglaise, donc manque de temps pour se promener dans le château et faire les boutiques ensuite. L'excursion de Silves se fait donc au pas de course, dommage.

Very informative, lovely lunch, tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. Felt very comfortable as a solo traveller. It was very cloudy so no view from the final stop on top of the mountain which was disappointing but out of everyone's control. The rest of the stops and views were beautiful with clear skies.

Unfortunately the guide had to translate into two languages, this took far to long. We had no time to have any free time. The guide was very boring I think due to the languages he had to translate. Maybe don't put two different languages together. The scenery was stunning and the food was amazing

Very good & interesting tour. Our tour guide was excellent.Some steep upwards roads to walk & difficult if you have certain health issues and cannot manage steep hill.Sensible non slip shoes are needed for this trip as quite a bit of walking ,getting on and off the coach.Some slippery tiled streets to navigate.Very limited time to look around so it all felt rushed, except the meal where we spent the most time, could have been quicker if half a chicken and chips was served.instead of bite size

The overall trip wasn't bad , wasn't enough time in silves,went to church and stopped in there for 20mins the guide was good and his job and knowledge, but for the start to the finish, he never stopped talking, could have done with a little rest between trips, the water plant was a no go, it was a waste of time couldn't get to drink the water due to new people who owned the site. But overall was good enough of a trip out.

What should have been a great day out was spoiled by our guide. He never stopped talking! We were always late so he kept changing departure times. Classic example - 20 minute walk round Monchique took 40 minutes because we stood for 25 minutes in a church whilst he rambled on about history and religion in 2 languages. Could not see that everyone was restless and bored and edging towards the doors. We had to miss the centre of town as we were late for our lunch.

9 Uhr Abholzeit, Bus kommt 9:15 Uhr. Deutschsprachige Reiseleitung bedeutet, alles erstmal Englisch anhören, danach nochmal auf Deutsch. Fand ich unnötig und anstrengend. Andonsten war die Tour ein Highlight.

Silves ist ein sehr schöner Ort. Es lohnt sich ein Besuch dort. Man bekommt viele Infos vom Reiseleiter/in. Die Gegend um Monchique bietet schöne Aussichten. Das Restaurant für das Mittagessen war authentisch. Alles was serviert wurde war köstlich, inklusive Wein und Kaffee.

Helaas was het een plaatselijke feestdag in Silves, dus was 90% gesloten. Waaronder ook de kerk. Dus een tip. Maak geen excursie op een feestdag, zonde van de tijd en geld dat er voor wordt betaald. Kan je beter op een andere dag gaan, wanneer wel de winkeltjes en restaurantjes op zijn. Verder was het een leuke excursie.

It was a great day but the only thing was that some toilet breaks would have been good or alternatively a usable toilet on the coach. The coach pick up was also in the opposite direction in which we were told to wait. Otherwise it was a fantastic day and we all thoroughly enjoyed it.

We didn’t have long enough at Silves. There was really only time to see the castle but it would have been good to wander round the village and maybe some shops too. I would give more time there and scrap the visit to the spa water as that was something and nothing

Die Fahrt nach Silves and Monchique Mountains Tour, kann man 100% empfehlen. Anne , unsere Reiseleiterin hat uns während der Fahrt viel über die Fauna u. Flora von dieser Gegend erzählt. Wir haben 2-Ausflüge mit Anne gemacht, beide waren mit viel Wissen ,u.ihrer besonderen liebenswerten Art gespickt. Chapeau ??

Day was well organised. Anna was a fantastic guide who told us lots of interesting facts as we went along. It was a hot day, so going back to the air-conditioned coach between stops was welcome. Meal was good. As we were the first pick up it was a long day, almost 10 hours, but well worth it.

Don't use TUI they just cancel or move it now need to wait 10 days for refund after waiting 5 for the rescheduled tour. Not what we wanted on our honeymoon won't be using your services again.

Unser Guide war top informiert und die Kombi Deutsch; Englisch war einfach perfekt. Die Führung war stets interessant und informativ. Wir haben zudem viel über Flora und Fauna erfahren. Das Tastings ( Orangensaft;; Kuchen und Likör waren prima). Das Restaurant und auch das Essen waren köstlich und die Bedienung stets freundlich. Auf unseren Sohn (10Jahre) wurde eingegangen und wir waren alle zufrieden. Gerne wieder!!!

Nous avons aimé découvrir l’arrière pays de l’Algarve. L’ancienne capitale Silves et la source de Montchique. Cependant, cela reste une excursion assez basique sans découverte extraordinaire. Dommage que nous n’ayons pas pu obtenir une visite dans la langue que nous avions commandé.

The trip its self i did enjoy but was dismayed that i wasn't informed of the steep hills and steps to climb. As i have copd it was quite a struggle for me in 38 degrees heat.. i was very impressed with the courier who was very informative and her language skills impecable

The places that we visited were lovely, but not enough time spent in each of them.In the silves visit we had about 30 minutes to go around the castle and get back to the coach,in monchique we literally walked up and down a couple of streets to the church and back to the coach.would have definitely preferred more time in both places.the guide was great and very informative.

Going up to the mountains Seeing the castle. To the restaurant guide very knowledgeable. A lot of steep hills not good with reduced mobility. Also company should give me right pick up point I could have missed the whole trip. Told me to go to marina rio bus stop and taxi came to my hotel The Tivoli. I'm not happy about that

We enjoyed that the trip was hassle free. We did this trip 15 years ago and enjoyed it better this time, some aspects we're not sure we did last time, or we have totally forgotten, so it was worth repeating. An enjoyable day if youre reasonably fit for the various short walks. There was nothing negative we can pick-on.

Ik zou eigenlijk een tour doen op 11/6 in het Nederlands uiteindelijk werd verplaatst naar 10/6 in het Engels. Er is goed gecommuniceerd en gevraagd of dat ik wilde gaan of annuleren. De tour was super, de gids sprak Engels en Duits, dus het was goed te volgen. We hebben veel informatie gekregen over de sinaasappelbomen, kurkeiken, waterbronnen..heerlijke eetbare verrassingen. Helaas was het zo mistig dat we op in Fóia niets konden zien, maar de natuur laat zich niet regisseren. Aanrader! TOP

Very informative, get alot for your money. Beautiful, amazing day, will stay with us for a long time. Please head the mobility warning as walks are steep and tiring. Only disappointment was that we didn't get to visit the natural spring in monchique to fill our water bottle (as our rep said we would)

Walking tours and guide very good. Meal up the mountains very nice and social interaction wonderful Thing to look at , first stop - comfort break Last stop at water plant, total waste of time

Heel goede gids (Anna), mooie excursie naar het binnenland, proeverij was lekker in Silves. Het kasteel was het bezoeken waard, misschien iets meer tijd om ook nog het centrum te bezoeken. De lunch was lekker en voldoende. Buiten eten was leuker geweest in plaats van binnen. Het uitzicht vanaf het terras was zeer mooi. Monchique was leuk en de stop was aangenaam.
