What to expect
Step into an active evaporation basin, where seawater naturally transforms into salt, and a delicate crust forms across the surface. Wearing rubber boots, walk across the salt-covered basin and observe the unique structure of the crystals as well as the distinctive features of the saline environment.Accompanied by an experienced salt harvester, discover the traditional methods used in the salt pans and learn about the processes involved in salt production. During the visit, watch a demonstration of manual harvesting techniques and take part in the activity using the paluneddu, the traditional tool employed for collecting salt.This immersive experience offers a closer look at the daily work of a salt harvester and reveals how seawater is gradually transformed into salt within a living, working natural environment. What to remember
Accessibility:
Due to the natural conditions of the route, this experience is not recommended for people with reduced mobility, balance difficulties or an inability to walk independently

Entering restricted areas, using equipment without supervision, or collecting and removing salt outside the activities included in the experience is not permitted
Know in advance:
Participants will walk on a natural salt surface, which may be uneven, wet or slippery
Throughout the activity, participants must follow the salt worker’s instructions, remain within the designated areas and stay with the group
Rubber boots, a straw hat and a paluneddu, the traditional salt-harvesting tool, are provided on site. Equipment may only be used under the supervision of the salt worker
The experience includes a salt tasting accompanied by bread and extra virgin olive oil (EVOO)
