What to expect
Your day starts in Milan, where you'll meet your guide and travel comfortably towards the Barolo wine region. As you leave the city behind, the scenery gradually changes into rolling hills dotted with vineyards and small historic villages. The first stop is a panoramic viewpoint in La Morra, one of Piedmont's most recognisable landscapes and part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Vineyard Landscape of Piedmont. A short walk brings you to a terrace overlooking the Barolo vineyards, with time to take photos and enjoy the view. You'll then continue to the village of Barolo, known as the birthplace of the wine that shares its name. Surrounded by vineyards, the town has a relaxed atmosphere, with wine shops, cafés and quiet corners to explore. You'll have free time for lunch and to experience daily life in the village at your own pace.In the afternoon, the tour takes you underground to the wine cathedrals, also part of a UNESCO World Heritage Site. These large, cathedral-like spaces carved into the ground are used to age wine in carefully controlled conditions, creating a distinctive setting where winemaking, architecture and local tradition come together. The experience ends with a guided tasting of selected local wines, including Barolo. Afterwards, you'll return to Milan by coach, arriving in the early evening.
