Experience a camel caravan ride in Tunisia
See the rugged landscapes of North Africa
Mingle with the locals in a traditional café

O que esperar

There's still no better way to explore the Tunisian countryside than on the back of a camel. This caravan adventure allows you to become sultan of the sands and discover aspects of traditional rural life in Tunisia. We'll pick you up and bring you to Kantaoui, where you'll meet the camels before riding off on your adventure. You'll be on a dromedary – single-humped – camel from just before 10:00 till about midday.During the trail, there's a stop at a café, where you can enjoy a drink and observe locals bake tabouna – a small but filling flat bread that's a staple on every Tunisian table. As traditional Tunisian activities go, it doesn't really get more authentic than a camel caravan.

I had an absolutely wonderful time on the camel riding tour From the moment we arrived the staff and handlers were incredibly welcoming making the whole experience feel authentic and safe The tour often includes a visit to a replica Berber Village where you can try freshly made tabouna bread If your looking for an unforgettable activity in Sousse that combines adventure culture and beautiful scenery I would highly recommend

The experience was excellent riding on the camels and also going to the small village and experiencing the traditional Tunisian way of life. The only thing I didn’t like was that we were expected to buy the head coverings, tip the workers and cooks and also buy the photos. None of this was communicated prior to the trip, and as a result I felt quite pressured as I did not have enough money on me for it all.

This Activity sold to us buy Tui , should check the health of the animals, on this occasion a poor horse was not in a fit state to pull a cart , this was seen by my self and other members of our group , is it that Tui put money before the health of the Animals, this is not nice to see this horse struggle or go through this , the price Tui charged for the Activity was a lot of money .

The coach was 45 minutes late. Bring cash as the staff will ask for tips. There were 3 of us and we had to share a medium sized camel (far too small for 3 people), squashed and worried we were going to fall off, we arrived at the hosts home. We learned how they made bread and were able to enjoy a sandwich and fruits. While being there, they continuously asked for tips, offered us pictures from a video recording which was blurry and expensive. Moments of pleasure, ruined by moments of greed.

Tour was overbooked so only had 10 mins on camel and travelled the rest of the experience on a cart pulled by a horse. Lot of waiting around at lunch stop on makeshift seats that were all broken with backs that had snapped off. Only time guide spoke to us was to try and get us to buy photos he had taken. Would not recommend at all & couldn’t wait for it to finish and get back to hotel. Coach was 45 mins late picking us up, with no communication & tickets not checked when boarding the coach.

The people were very friendly, the guide took care of us when my kids wanted to ride the donkey and horse instead of the camels, he made sure the people doing the excursion understood and that they got to ride them. Lovely experience. It is very hot in the sun so make sure you are covered up and tale your own water to have before getting to the farm.

It wa such a fun experience to be able to ride the camels and bond with the rest of the group and the families. The only thing that I found difficult personally, was that the area we got taken to was hard to deal with due to the heat as it was a secluded area, and it was also difficult to carry water on the camel so it was a little struggle. So I would recommend to make sure you drink lots of water before you go so that you are hydrated.

The guide staff were excellent, the transport from our hotel to the start of the camel ride was unorganised, we felt insecure, unsettled and was not aware of where we were or going to. The little extras at the local small holding was a nice touch, a complimentary drink would have been good, but we understand a small business needs to make money. Overall a good experience.

Good experience and make to say we have done it. However Travel to the location was like taking your life into your own hands with a small ramshackle bus with no seat belts. The guides were friendly enough but straight away got white towels on your heads before asking for 10 dinar per person. Wear lots of sun screen as it is super hot on the about 30 minute journey to the place they sit you to have authentic bread and there is a bar. It would have been nice for an actual guide to be involved

Myself and my 12 year old loved this trip. There were a number of baby camels also on the tour that were really friendly and cuddly, it was lovely. The stop at the farm for freshly baked tunisian bread and salad was really lovely too. The only thing I didn't like was one of the men was kicking one of the camels to get up when it was time to go as it was laying down and wouldn't get up. Didn't like that. They're their owned camels though so perhaps they know them best. Overall great trip.

They were kind and Hamid was very witty and had wise words also. I didn’t like seeing the horses slip on the road but the staff were kind to them and explained why it was happening - one horse was leaving the pulling to the other horse.

Got picked up in an old pick up. Inside of it was filthy (left a stain on my trousers from just sitting on the seat). After a drive to the place we had some makeshift head covering placed on our heads and were charged 30TDN for the pleasure. 30 minutes on a camel. A few photos taken (then sold to us for 10TDN EACH!) we were then given a bottle of coke each and some bread. Once we had the drinks we were dropped off at the hotel. The guy doing the experience is lovely. Just greedy. Shame.

A great experience, the tour is quite basic it’s a short ride to a derelict area where you feed another camel by mouth with a piece of aloes. Great experience for children, you then are taken to another area to have homemade bread. Which was a lovely experience to see traditional cooking Negatives: you are charged for a piece of cloth and small tie which is put on your head without question then you are asked to pay. You make a donation for a small piece of bread and then donate to the guides

Great

The tour is a good way to make you finally believe that you’re in Africa! The camels were lovely and the people who we met. Definitely went above expectations as we also went to one of their families house and saw how they make real Tunisian bread! The camels appeared to look very healthy and clean too. I think the only downside is the heat. So bring water with you and make yourself comfortable!

Excellent

Lovely experience, guides were very friendly, helping on and off the camels, one member of our group didn’t wish to ride, they come along in a horse drawn truck. Enjoyed the local made bread, good trip

Soweit so gut.

Great

Fantastic morning riding Camels around this Olive Grove. Great experience and not to be missed! You get to see how traditional Tunisian/Berber bread is made and and get a brunch thrown in. Drinks cost extra, and there is a photographer taking pics so you don't forget a minute of it. (Again, extra for the pics but reasonably priced). Expect to spend around £30 extra for all the little bits (drinks, pics, traditional headwear). Would recommend

Excellent

The camel ride was great fun, music, sun, cactuses a pit stop to pull out your camel toe lol and some clay oven Nan bread made by locals was delicious. The tour guides are fun and you get to put a piece of cactus without the pins lol in your mouth and feed the camel with a picture taken so do take some Dinas or your own camera phones on the trip. Do bare in mind these tour guides earn very little and they greatly appreciate a tip no matter the amount

Absolutely amazing. Plenty of time on and around the camels but also options of the pony and trap if you're not keen on riding. Not enough has been pointed out in the write ups of the traditional experience. Being at the farm house with lunch made in front of you and traditional harissa and bread was fabulous. Great people. Bit of a surprise being thrown up onto the camels but always done sensitively and gently.
