O que esperar
The Leopold Collection is one of the most important collections of modern Austrian art in the world and displays masterpieces from the Wiener Secession to Art Nouveau and Expressionism. The more than 5,000 exhibits were collected by the eye specialist and art lover Rudolf Leopold (1925 - 2010) and his wife Elisabeth over a period of five decades. In 1994, the Collection was consolidated with the assistance of the Republic of Austria and the Austrian National Bank into a non-profit foundation, and in 2001 the Leopold Museum could open its doors. One of its major highlights is the worldwide largest and most prominent collection of works of the expressionist Egon Schiele. It was actually Leopold to reawake the fame of Schiele and to immortalize it with the amazing collection. Besides oil paintings and graphic works, the Leopold Museum also houses the Egon Schiele-Documentation Centre, that is dedicated to research on Schiele’s work and also holds numerous autographs.

It happens that we were quite early getting to the museum so there was no line to skip! In Paris this service has been invaluable when visiting galleries so we bought tickets. Not a problem.

Chi ama Egon Schiele non può non venire ad ammirare alcune delle sue opere più conosciute, obbligatoriamente deve anche passare dall'Albertina e dal Belvedere superiore. Vale anche per Klimt. Possibilmente visitare i musei all'apertura, quasi sicuramente sono meno affollati.

c'est un musée merveilleux, j'avais prevu 1h30 et j'ai passé l'apres midi, c'est grand bien agencé , le qm d'abord est attrayant, le restau en face plein de surprises, et les tableaux et autres expos sont exceptionnels , personnellement j'ai découvert Egon Schiele sous un autre jour.

This museum came as a great surprise to me as I think it didn,t exist years ago when I first visited Vienna! the collection is superb and well curated but to my surprise I lucked into their wonderful current expo of Vienna 1900 in which they tie everything together and add to one,s knowledge .

I love your collection of Schiele’s. Somebody told me the wrong time for the gift shop closing. I missed the closing by a minute or two. I was planning to buy a few things. Going back to the USA next day. Shop did not open for me. I went to the museum site on line when I got home and the items not

betrifft eigentlich die mitarbeiter des museums: ich hatte online das falsche datum gebucht, und eine mitarbeiterin des leopold museums hat - am samstag nachmittag, sie hatte das bürotelefon auf ihr mobiltel. umgeleitet! - mir geholfen, das ticket für den nachmittag umzubuchen. ich war begeistert.
