The Es Cana Hippy Market is the stuff of legend. Swing back to the Sixties at this treasure trove of cubby-hole stalls, where your batik fantasies clash in a cloud of incense. Ibiza's number one and original hippy market, it has refused to move with the times. The stands are piled high with authentic and retro items, everything from kaleidoscope kaftans to beads and bangles. Silke, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘The market is full of creative artisans and artistes, not just selling their wares but performing music. It's an eclectic and electric experience for all the family.'A wide variety of products are on offer, from handstitched leather bags and a huge range of jewellery right through to homewares such as hand-woven baskets and art prints. Clothing is also highly sought-after, and there's no shortage of cool, beach-ready apparel. Prices are reasonable for such unique and often handcrafted items. Silke adds, ‘In 1973, the hotel invited hippy artisans to sell their wares to guests. Today, there are more than 450 stalls. You'll find stands selling white dresses and shirts – the typical Adlib Ibiza style, which was created during the hippy movement and is still very popular.'If you fancy just sitting back to soak up the atmosphere, there's food and drink for all tastes in the foodie areas. There are even activities for the kids and a playground for your little ones. Even if you're eyeing not buying, the psychedelic time travel is worth the visit alone.

Excursie was precies zoals we verwacht hadden, echt een leuke middag gehad. We zijn blij dat we de tui hostess hebben aangesproken of er nog leuke activiteiten zijn op Ibiza. Zij adviseerde ons de hippie markt.

2 x 1,5h Busfahrt für das Geld und 3h Aufenthalt nur weil erst 5 anderes Hotels auf der ganzen Insel abgefahren werden waren wirklich eine Zumutung! Der Marktbesuch war toll aber die verschenkte Zeit im Bus und über 1h später wieder im Hotel ankommen als angekündigt ging wirklich gar nicht!

Bus à l’aller avec climatisation inexistante mais retour super. Guide inutile car cela reste un transfert. Ou alors si guide qu’il soit plus animateur et qu’il passe une tête de temps en temps sur le marché afin de nous apporter des infos ou autres.

Zunächst: der Service und die Organisation seitens TUI waren super, alles hat perfekt geklappt. ???? Der Hippiemarkt ist leider schon lange keiner mehr. Es gibt nichts, was man auch woanders auf der Insel bekommen kann. Ich war enttäuscht. Wenn man dann noch für einen 0,33 l Softdrink 6,50 € bezahlt und statt eines vernünftigen Kaffee eine Kapsel aufgebrüht bekommt, fühle ich mich doch ein wenig, sagen wir, veräppelt. Fazit: Muss wirklich nicht sein. Lieber was anderes machen für das Geld. .

On bus with two children for nearly two hours. Hippy market too over rated, not like it used to be. Can of Diet Coke £5.00 bottle of water £.3.50 day light robbery. Extortionate prices for goods … expensive tat. Toilets very clean. Give it a miss !!

This trip should not be offered to families of young children . We booked online where it states it was a 2-4hr trip in total We were on a bus for 1.5hr each way with only 2hrs at the the market . 5hrs total 3hrs on bus! If I knew we were going to be on a bus for 3hrs in total I wouldn’t have booked it as we were taking our 6months baby. The hippy market had no toilets only portaloos so I had to change my baby’s ********** at the bus stop . Not an appropriate trip for young children at all .

Not a guided tour as described, there is a tui rep that tell you when to get off and what time to be back. We were told the bus journey was a guided tour (pointing out land marks etc) then free to shop. This is basically a bus ride to the market with 2 hours to do some shopping. If there is more than 1 or 2 of you this is an extremely expensive and limited excursion. Market is good and trip ran smoothly.

Transfer late picking us up, guide wasn’t a guide at all. She was just the coach drivers mate. She got off the bus early before dropping everyone back. She waited outside on the coach for us whilst at the market. Only got 1 hour 45 mins at the market not 3 as advertised.

This trip is a great way to get to the hippie market, a taxi would cost more (depending on group size) and the bus takes way longer so value for money I think is great. However, the advertised journey time from our hotel was 45 minutes each way. It actually took us 90 minutes each way which is a long time for just 2 hours there.

It states you pay for a local guide however the lady silke wasn’t much of a guide just someone who told us what time to be back on the coach- for 100€ I was expecting more and then we spent longer on the coach then we could at the actual market! As was late getting to us and then went long way back to hotel!

The journey itself took 60 mins from Seaview Holiday Village. 2 hrs were allocated for the market and an hours travel back. The market itself is lovely. Lots of jewelry stalls and clothes stalls. Clothes were quite expensive but the staff weren't pushy. I was able to try on the dresses without feeling pressured to buy them. Face painting for the kids. Some toy/trinket stalls. Toilets available, very clean and well looked after. Very busy , lovely to wander about though.

Deze excursie wordt aangegeven als een excursie mét Engelstalige gids… Er was een dame van TUI die met de bus meekwam, die ons ophaalde, verder was zij niet bij de excursie en ook geen Engelstalige gids die uitleg gaf, wat wij verwacht hadden. Zo staat het immers omschreven. Wij vinden het geen waar voor ons geld, dan kan je net zo goed met een taxi naar de Hippie Market gaan.

This was basically just a transfer to the hippy market. The guide contributed nothing, and got off the bus early when we got back to san antonio. The hippy market itself was good fun, as expected, and this was a convenient (if a little pricey) way to get there.

We werden om 13.30 uur opgehaald bij het hotel. We kwamen zo rond 14.30 aan bij de markt en hadden maar 2 1/2 uur de tijd om de hippie markt te verkennen. Gids was aardig maar we begrepen haar uitleg over Ibiza niet zo goed. Voor het geld wat we moesten betalen vonden wij het niet goed wat we voor terug kregen. Dit is de mening ven het gehele gezelschap van 12 personen.

I loved the smooth running and punctuality of the excursion. The coach was air conditioned which was welcomed on a hot day. The guide was informative and friendly. No traffic en route and the hippy market in Es Canar is well worth a visit if you like shopping for unique gifts and trinkets.

Es sollte als reiner Transfer verkauft werden, nicht als Exkursion! Als ich die nette Reiseleiterin ansprach, doch etwas mehr über Ibiza auf der Fahrt zu erzählen, meinte sie, dass sie das nicht dürfe, da es sich lediglich um einen Transfer handelt. Aber Es Canar ist immer eine Reise wert:) Wir haben zu zweit 58 EUR bezahlt, was ja nicht gerade wenig ist...

Bus transfer was meant to be 45 min and one more stop to pick up more passengers. Bute then we had to drive into Ibiza town and have 6 more stops which took forever and it took 1.5 hours to get there! And the same on the way back. It was expensive paying 29 euros per person too! Not happy at all!

No Tui rep on the bus until the last few minutes. Half of us headed off away from the market to start with, only 2 and a bit hours at the market, not 3 as advertised so all a bit of a rush. Got on the wrong bus to go home as not made clear that there would be more than one tui bus, rep was pretty unpleasant about it and shouted at me.

Overall it was worth a trip as the market was good, but could be much improved with a few simple changes. No idea why the trip is in the afternoon in high season as it’s absolutely sweltering.. i nearly melted, not to mention the kids! Morning would be much better. We also didn’t get back until 7.30pm which gave no time to get ready for dinner. We also stayed in Port De Torrent and on the way back the coach went to san antonio and made 4-5 stops which took forever.

Being on a lot of excursions on various island I would not call this a trip with a ‘guide’ it was more giving us instructions on where to pick the coach up and a few muffled microphone messages on the coach about a few local hotspots, this to me does not constitute as a guide.

It’s quite a long bus journey to get there if you are based in the West of the island but the Hippy Market itself is worth a visit for the array of gifts and wares that you can purchase. There’s a good spirit in the market and no hard sell. It was easy to spend 2 or 3 hours perusing and finding some unique gifts.

De hippiemarkten zelf zijn wel ok. Veel van hetzeltde. we werden eigenlijk door de reisleidster niet echt verder ingelicht, ze wist niet waar de bus was en vervolgens stapte ze als eerste eruit op een busstation en ging daarbij zonder ons te informeren gewoon weg terwijl wij de gasten nog niet eens bij het hotel waren.. normaal is het eerst gasten terug dan pas leidster.. ze gaf ons weinig tot geen info

Ik zat in Garbi. Ophaalpunt was Al Garb. Als het hotel personeel twee uur voor aanvang niet doorvroeg was ik voor mijn eigen hotel staan wachten. Dit wordt dus niet goed door gecommuniceerd.

Wel het is gewoon een aanrader om naar de hippiemarkt te gaan, dat hoort gewoon erbij als je naar Ibiza gaat. En je kan er leuke dingen kopen en er is ook leuke muziek. En je hebt tijd genoeg die er voor staat in de excursie om er goed te kunnen genieten.

Prettig was dat je gehaald en gebracht werd. Ook goede afspraken over hoelaat en waar weer terug naar je hotel gebracht worden. De markt zelf vond ik niet heel bijzonder.

Reisleidster kon amper Engels waardoor heleboel mensen niet snapten waar ze het over had. De bus was 15 min te laat op de heenweg en 30 min te laat op de terugweg. Ik had geboekt via de tui app maar onze ( en meerdere mensen van ons hotel) namen stonden niet op de deelnemerslijst van de reisleidster.

De opstapplaats was te onduidelijk. Er zijn twee busstops in Figuretas. Dat gaf ons stress voor vertrek. Voor de terugreis was de bus 20 minuten te laat en moesten we in de brandende zon wachten op de bus. De bus reed heel anders dan de heenreis waardoor we niet in een half uur terug waren maar er anderhalf uur over hebben gedaan. Dat hadden we graag vooraf geweten. We zaten nu met honger in de bus en we moesten plassen. De excursie zelf was leuk. De gids ging drie stops eerder eruit dan ons. Beetje raar vinden wij.
