What to expect
Discover Armenia’s history, natural beauty, and sacred landmarks on a day trip to Garni, Geghard, and Lake Sevan. The journey begins at the Arch of Charents, a scenic viewpoint where you’ll enjoy breathtaking panoramas of biblical Mount Ararat. From here, continue to the Pagan Temple of Garni, the only standing Hellenistic pagan temple in the Caucasus. Dating back to the 1st century AD and dedicated to the sun god Mihr, you’ll also see a remarkably well-preserved Roman bathhouse.Next, marvel at the Symphony of Stones, a striking natural formation of basalt columns shaped over thousands of years by volcanic activity and erosion—one of Armenia’s most unique geological wonders. The tour continues to Geghard Monastery, a UNESCO World Heritage Site partially carved into the rock. You’ll explore its 4th- to 10th-century churches and halls, set within the dramatic Upper Azat Valley, and admire the stunning Armenian Renaissance architecture.Conclude the day at Lake Sevan, one of the world’s largest high-altitude freshwater lakes. You’ll visit the 9th-century Sevanavank Monastery, perched on a peninsula, and take in panoramic views of the lake and surrounding mountains. The monastery is deeply linked to Armenia’s history and houses one of the remaining Amenaprkich khachkars.
