What to expect
If you can tear yourself away from the sun-kissed beaches of Paphos for an afternoon, this adults-only tour is just right for you. You'll venture to Ayios Neophytos Monastery for a look around, before heading to the village of Kathikas for a spot of wine tasting. What's more, you'll have both the morning and evening to yourself, arriving back just in time for dinner.First up is a visit to the Ayios Neophytos Monastery. It's here you'll find the Enklistra, a unique chapel carved into the mountainside by the founder of the monastery. Inside, you'll find some of the finest Byzantine frescoes, showcasing the monastery's rich history and cultural significance. Next, we'll take you on a scenic drive to the Sterna Winery in Kathikas. Here, you'll sample some of the local vino with a tasting session as you take in the breathtaking views of the surrounding hillsides and vineyards. And if you're interested in winemaking, there's a small museum on-site to learn more about the history and techniques used by the winery.

Our tour guide spoke very poor English, so was unable to answer questions or give much insight to the caves or monastery. The tour group didn't know where we were going any many got split up. The facts he did give on the drive included info on roundabouts & an old Debenhams. The wine tasting was amazing, the men who run the facility were so friendly, full of knowledge and even found me some gluten free biscuits!

A very enjoyable excursion. Monastery was very interesting in the mountains. Beautiful scenery throughout the journey. I’m not a wine drinker but found the winery interesting and it’s run by a nice family. No pressure to purchase but lots of positive feedback from other guests whom did purchase a lot of the wines. Guide was great throughout the excursion including the bus journeys, was very informative. We learnt a terrific amount. Negative - pickup was 20 minutes late, no reason or apology

We appreciated the knowledge of the guide at the Monastery. It is a beautiful site! Wine tasting was well organised with chairs for everyone. The gift shop had quality items alongside the wines.

It’s a short trip which was great. Not too long in the coach. The monastery was lovely and time spent there about right. Enjoyed the wine tasting but felt that it could have been a lot better. You didn’t get to taste every wine and having to chose between a sweet or dry wine defeated the object of tasting the difference

Our very comfortable bus arrived on time and we had a very interesting drive to the monastery. Our guide was very welcoming, informative and humorous and she ensured that we were safe at all times. The tour was leisurely, so we could appreciate the beautiful surroundings at our own pace. The subsequent trip to the vineyard was also pleasant and the driver was amazing negotiating some tricky high altitude paths! In brief, it was a great experience and we would definitely recommend it to others!

Weinprobe war lächerlich, der winzer schenkte so wenig wein aus, dass man den wein kaum schmeckte. Die angebliche weinprobe war eine Frechheit. Das Geld dafür hätte ich gern wieder.

Die Tour war sehr gut organisiert. Leider war sie nicht auf deutsch, mein Englisch ist so nicht besonders gut. Einiges habe ich schon mitbekommen und meine Sprachkenntnisse wurden ergänzt und aufgefrischt ??.Die Guide-Mitarbeiterin und der Busfahrer waren ganz toll und ich fühlte mich sicher. Die Wein-Verkostung war ebenfalls ganz prima, ich würde die Tour wieder buchen.

Eine Nachmittags Tour zum Kloster war in Ordnung,auch die Weinprobe war es wert daran teilzunehmen. Der Winzer hat ein sehr gutes Englisch gesprochen und präsentierte seine hervorragenden Weine.Die Führerin hat ein unverständliches Englisch gesprochen, es war sooo schlecht, daß man nur einzelne Worte verstand. Eigentlich unzumutbar.Dann lieber einen Flyer in Deutsch oder Englisch über die Geschichte der Insel und des Klosters in die Hand geben und den schlechten Führer sparen.

De bus arriveerde een kwartier te laat. De gids was slecht te verstaan. Haar Engels werd met zo'n accent uitgesproken dat veel mensen er moeite mee hadden. In het klooster bezochten we verschillende kleine ruimtes waar de groep niet in zijn geheel in kon. De gids ging voorop en begon haar uitleg op het moment dat ze binnen was, ongeacht hoeveel mensen er al waren. Als ze klaar was ging ze door naar de volgende ruimte en herhaalde zich dit. Ik heb van de uitleg niets meegekregen.

When booking it was only advertised as wine tasting. Most of the afternoon was spent at the monastery where an awful lot of information was given to us. The wine tasting itself was very quick. The ‘museum’ had no actual information to accompany the props in the room so was difficult to understand the process. Decent wine about €10 a bottle not too bad

Het klooster was leuk om te bezoeken, de gids kon er veel over vertellen en je kreeg vrije tijd om zelf nog even rond te kijken. De tijd op het wijngaard vonden wij iets minder leuk, je moest zelf een rondje lopen/maken om te kijken hoe de wijn vroeger werd geproduceerd. Helaas stonden nergens bordjes met tekst/uitleg/vernieuwing. De wijnproeverij werd op een leuke wijze gedaan.

Absolutely fabulous tour , Tour guide lady is lovely , great information ?? Bus driver great too. This is great value for money & a very nice tour would recommend & I would also do it again if I returned to Paphos. Thanks for a great day & a fantastic small group. We enjoyed the experience but felt very rushed & think the time at the monastery and at the winery should be extended by at least 15 minutes. There was no time at the winery to calmly shop, it was “You have 5 minutes”.

Zunächst konnte man einiges über die Stadt und Region erfahren. Im Kloster waren Fotos verboten. Die Gemälde sind erstaunlich gut erhalten. Die Weinprobe wurde gut gemacht. Gute Weine! Man kann die Weine auch im Duty Free Bereich am Flughafen kaufen. Etwas mehr Fotostopps bei der schönen Aussicht wären gut.

Not good vfm. Monastery interesting. Issue with entry fees - guide had to pay again! Excellent guide - very knowledgeable. Quite a few steps to climb so may not be suitable for people with limited mobility. Winery - nice venue, TINY amount of wine to taste, and didn’t enjoy the wines offered. Bus driver didn’t know which winery we were going to and couldn't get coach down approach road. The walk was an issue if mobility limited. The wine production talk was like being at school.

Loved the wine tasting. Very informative. The tour of the monastery was not as enjoyable as found the guide didn't wait for everyone to catch up when walking ahead and was aiming her narrative to individuals in the group not to the group as a whole. Hard to hear all of what she was saying. It could have been more engaging.

The Monestry tour was not easy due to lots of slopes and steep steps. ( we did ask Jan our hotel rep if it suitable as my legs are weak at times )The gift shop at the Monestry was closed which was disappointing.The Wine tasting was very good,we enjoyed it very much. Our tour guide was brilliant and her knowledge of Paphos and the Monestry superb. Lovely lady and very helpful.

Overall the trip was good and the wine tasting experience was fun. However it should be explained in future about the difficulties that could be experienced at the monastery, there are some steep steps and also very restrictive areas

Overpriced for what was provided. At the monastery, the cells are small, so 30+ people cannot cram into the same one and hear the talk. Some with mobility issues could not get to cells. The church is active, so felt uncomfortable with guide telling us facts whilst locals were trying to continue their service. Didn't get to see the museum. Area scenic and nice & peaceful. Wine tasting was ok. Would have been nice to have a couple of photo stops at the most scenic viewpoints.

Fun way to spend the afternoon when you're a bit tired of the pool and sunbathing. We visited the monastery first, where we saw the original hermitage cave and then proceeded to the main church. We were then given 15 minutes to continue the tour on our own, and during that time you have to manage to go to the loo, gift shop, holy water cave and see all the gardens, which I thought was not enough. The wine tasting was okay, we were given a choice of white, rose and red wine.
