What to expect
The Mauritshuis is home to the best Dutch paintings of the 17th century from the age of Rembrandt and Vermeer. Situated in the heart of The Hague, the compact and world-renowned collection includes masterpieces such as Vermeer's 'Girl with the Pearl Earring', 'The Anatomy Lesson of Dr. Nicolaes Tulp' by Rembrandt, The 'Goldfinch' by Fabritius and 'The Bull' by Potter. See more than 200 pieces by Dutch and Flemish masters on display in the intimate exhibition rooms with silk wall coverings, sparkling chandeliers, and monumental painted ceilings.Download the Mauritshuis multimedia tour to your smartphone to hear about the paintings in the museum (available in English and Dutch). The most important works of art are also featured in the highlights tour (available in 11 languages).BIRDS – Curated by The Goldfinch & Simon Schama - 12 February – 7 June 2026Birds, we can’t imagine life without them. To us, birds symbolise freedom, beauty and love. Birds are also pets, a source of food or hunting trophies. The exhibition BIRDS delves into our enduring relationship with these creatures that we love, yet keep in cages. What does our relationship with birds tell us about how we treat the natural world? Carel Fabritius’ 1645 painting The Goldfinch and British (art) historian Simon Schama bring birds from around the world to the Mauritshuis. We reflect on our relationship with birds through works by Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt, Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, Tracey Emin, Iris van Herpen.

What to remember
Know in advance:
The museum is wheelchair accessible, however, the wheelchair can’t be longer than 150cm or wider than 78 cm
Participants (age 0-17) can enter for free, but it is mandatory to reserve a ticket
Mauritshuis is open from Tuesdays to Sundays 10:00am - 6:00pm and on Mondays 1:00pm - 6:00pm
The museum operates on time slot entry. Tickets must be used a maximum of 15 minutes after the start time stated on your ticket. Following your entrance, you can stay as long as you want
Your e-ticket allows you to bypass the cash desk. However, these admission tickets do not grant you priority at possible queues outside and in front of the exhibition room
A multimedia tour of the collection is included in the admission fee through your smartphone
The full multimedia tour is available in English and Dutch. The highlights tour is available in Dutch, English, French, German, Spanish, Italian, Ukrainian, Russian, Mandarin, Korean and Japanese

Applications pour smartphone très bonne qui permet de naviguer à sa guise.
Et cerise sur le gâteau pour une personne âgée ( 87 ans) possibilité de s’assoir un moment dans beaucoup de salle

My only issue was my mistake. I didn't realize how close you were to the train station. I also didn't know that I couldn't bring my suitcase inside. Maybe put something on your site that suitcases should be left at train station lockers.

Gran bel museo, con opere d’arte di grande levatura. Ottima la disposizione dei dipinti. Solo una cosa mi ha lasciato perplesso: la disposizione delle luci non permette di godere al meglio dei colori: ci sono riflessi ovunque. Anche la luce naturale dalle finestre crea riflessi.

Unfortunstely the audioguide did Not stay in German laguage. It changed to English in many siruations. The groups wish came trough hby a guide had noch loudless audio. That was disturbing.

I had a small suitcase with me which I could not leave and had to walk back to the station to leave it in a locker. You have a place to leave coats and it would have made my visit much easier if I could have left my bag there.
