What to expect
The hidden beauty of Madeira is best uncovered by 4x4 vehicle. This off-road safari takes you to some of the island's most stunning locations, including São Vicente, the volcanic pools of Seixal and Porto Moniz, the ancient forests of Fanal, the Paul de Serra plateau and Cabo Girão.Cross the island's interior uplands to São Vicente on the north coast. From this whitewashed town nestled in forested volcanic hills, we head to Seixal to see its lava pools and famous waterfall. Next up is Porto Moniz, where Atlantic waves crash against lava rock formations. Then, it's on to Fanal, an area of rare beauty set in the heart of a laurel forest of deciduous trees, some of which are more than 500 years old.After a break for lunch, the 4x4 powers its way to the remote Paul de Serra plateau, which, on a clear day, offers sweeping views of both the north and south coasts. There's one last stop at the highest sea cliff in Europe, Cabo Girão, where for a small fee you'll be able to gaze out over panoramic views towards the sea and the coast below.

A very interesting and varied tour taking in marvellous sights and activities. Our driver/guide Diogo was very knowledgeable and made the trip fun too. The lunch stop was a good choice at an interesting and friendly cafe with good service and food choices.

The trip was all around incredible. We got to see so many varied landscapes, and the varied Maderian weather changes just a added to the fun of the day. Lots of fabulous stops with plenty of time at each one as well so you could explore/take photos. Victor, our guide, was fabulous and made sure everyone enjoyed their day.

Deze tour in december gemaakt, 8 personen in een jeep. Achterbak is niet een plaats geschikt voor volwassenen wanneer het dak dichtblijft. We keken tegen het zeil v h dak aan en hele tijd bukken is geen optie waardoor weinig van de omgeving te zien was. Voor kinderen zou deze plek prima zijn zij kunnen door de zijraampjes kijken. 4x4 off-road…. We hebben laatste stukje over binnendoor weggetje gereden de rest van de tour over doorgaande weg. We hadden andere verwachtingen van een 4x4 tour.

Het was n heel bijzondere dag, samen met n gezin uit Australië en een man uit Polen. Tony, de gids, koos spannende, prachtige weggetjes (the old road). Hard toeteren in de bochten om tegenliggers te waarschuwen. Als je n beetje bangig bent, ga met de grote bus. Prachtige dingen gezien, heel bijzondere lunch op n plek die we zelf nooit gekozen hadden, maar die toch heel leuk was. Echt n geweldige dag gehad.

It was a great way to see more of the island … unfortunately when you sit in the back you are unable to hear the guide clearly Also I think the tour needs to make more of the stop in the forest to enable you to walk to the very top and enjoy the views 30 minutes was a little too tight 45 would have been a lot better and cut back the lunch stop by the 15 minutes

The areas visited were interesting and varied. We liked the fact that there were no tourist invented stops eg ships or tastings. However the guide was unenthusiastic and offered very little information about the areas we visited. The 4x4 had a technical problem and lost its turbo power, it also rattled and squeaked. The speedometer was not working

De start ging wat stroef. Maar toen ik eenmaal in de Jeep zat voor mijn excursie was het snel okay. De chauffeur wist veel en sprak iedereen aan. Regelde een lunch vokr de groep en reed offroad wat geweldig was. Top dat ik deze dag op Madeira gehad heb.

Very rushed hardly enough time at the best stops to do or actually see much. Then had to sit in the most dreadful jungle restaurant for over an hour with nothing to see up there just so some could eat. Make the volcanic pools longer instead, loads of food choice there and would give people a chance to swim with out rushing. The restaurant was not on our schedule, just a money making tourist trap, waste of time

Mis-sold trip. The rep told us to book the trip without lunch so that we could have more time experiencing the sights and we brought a packed lunch. Instead, we were rushed through each stop and the guide took us to a restaurant for over an hour expecting us to eat there and seeming shocked when we didn't. This was wasted time that could.have been better spent. In addition, for those of us in the back of the jeep, it was an extremely uncomfortable trip more suited to thrill seekers.

The driver was good but there wasn’t a lot of guidance and interesting information. He missed the waterfalls out completely. The only food available for the lunch stop, was over cooked apart from the garlic bread. Also, why didn’t our rep explain, it’s slightly cheaper to book on the app with better cancellation terms.

véhicule en assez mauvais état, ce qui peut inquiéter lors de passages sensibles pas propre du tout , certes c’est un 4x4, mais un minimum d’entretien serait bien guidé sympathique et compétent s’assurer que les sites soient ouverts , car c’était fermé!! belle et agréable journee, belles decouvertes

Mein Highlight der Tour war der Tourguide! Jazz (?) hieß er glaube ich, war sehr freundlich und hat uns ganz viel erzählt. Was mir besonders gefallen hat, er ist auf uns Teilnehmer eingegangen Ich z.B. habe vor 5 Monaten ein neues Hüftgelenk gekriegt und bin noch nicht wieder ganz fit. Beim Miradouro Ilhéus da Ribeira da Janela ist er extra mit mir außen rum gelaufen, das gekraxel hätte ich nicht geschafft. Leider war es schon unser letzter Tag, sonst hätten wir noch eine Tour mit ihm gebucht.

Zeer vriendelijke local gidsen (Engelstalig en nederlandstalig) geven mooie kleine weetjes over life on the island en what works for the island. Geeft je een zeer mooie inkijk in het leven op Madeira, de geschiedenis,tradities en dit alles terwijl je van de ene bezienswaardigheid naar de andere rijdt. De gesprekjes tussendoor waren voor mij zo niet waardevoller dan de toeristische plekken. 10 op 10 voor de gids. Heb me altijd zeer veilig gevoeld, ook al was de dalkloof naast me. Lunch onderweg.

Iets te prijzig,had een drankje en een snackje inbegrepen moeten zijn in deze prijs. De stop waar we konden zwemmen had een uurtje langer moeten zijn. De tijd was nu te kort om deftig te kunnen genieten van het zwemmen! Het was een super lieve behulpzame gids die zeer goede uitleg gaf en ons zeer goed begeleide. Het was een aangename vriendelijke man.

Great way to get a taste of the varied landscape and sights of madeira. Really surprised at the amazing quality of food and wine at stop off. Lava pools were amazing and the frequent short stops made the time go very quick. Would have liked mire tome at pools but the timing of each stop avoided crowds.

Leuk, alleen de laatste stop was niet heel waardevol. Er was weinig te zien/doen. We zouden naar Paul de serra gaan, maar daar zijn we niet geweest. Lunch was lekker, die de gids geregeld had.

It was a fantastic day. David our guide was so knowledgeable and very entertaining. We loved every part of the day. My personal favourites were swimming in the lava pools and the Fanal Forest. I would highly recommend this trip as a fun and informative way to see the west side of the island

Wij kregen een plaats in de laadbak van het voertuig : zit niet erg comfortabel maar tijdens het rijden zie je amper iets : je kijkt gewoon tegen de dakrand aan

Zoveel gezien en gehoord wat je zelf niet zo zou ontdekken. Gids zorgde meteen voor een alternatief als er een weg afgesloten was of iets niet kon. Auto was duidelijk gebruikt en al ouder maar ik heb me niet onveilig gevoeld. Gids waarschuwde ook altijd voor mogelijke gevaren op de plek waar westopten.

Great trip,great driver,very confident in his handling abilities of the Land Rover. Excellent list of places to stop.Enjoyed the swim in the lava pool at Port Moniz.Fanal forest very good, Siexal excellent. Food stop was good,I would struggle to find a complaint. I would have had a problem if I found I was sitting in a sideways seat in the rear (I wasn’t),but maybe you should be told that might be a possibility?I would not have been able to do the full trip in comfort if that was the case.

Our tour guide romero was very informative. His local knowledge was great. He had great humor. He gave us enough time in each spot. The drive was incredible. Was very fun. Would highly recomend. The only problem we had was The seat belts at the back were unfortunately too small for larger people.

Great tour. Luis was very good at explaining the route, what each stop on the tour had to offer and the time was well planned. Luis is friendly and very knowledgeable about Madeira life and culture, and we were very aware of his passion for his home. Thoroughly enjoyable and varied tour, I would recommend this full day trip.

It was great doing the off road, very exciting and fun. We would have enjoyed 1.5 hours at Porto Moniz to see the place and have a swim at the volcanic pools. The place was closed when we arrived, so we lost 20 minutes. Also, price wasn't included, which needs to be made clearer.

This was a great tour with a jam packed itinerary itinerary. We had an hour and a half at Porto Moniz which was just about enough, but would have liked a it longer. Would recommend and was good value for money.

Luis was a great tour guide, very knowledgable. We seen some amazing sites, and he helped take many pictures at some of our stops. Definitely recommend. Nice and comfortable and not too crowded on the 4 x 4 made for some great sites whilst driving.

Der Guide Karim war sehr nett und hat viel über die Gegend gesprochen durch die wir gefahren sind. Wir haben viel gelacht. Gut war das wir einige kleine aber sehr schöne Stopps eingelegt haben....nur für ein paar Fotos. Die großen (Porto moniz. Fanal, Serra agua ) boten genug Zeit um in Ruhe zu Essen, schwimmen bzw Fotos zu machen waren aber auch nicht zu lang. Die Tour bergab von Serra agua hat Spaß gemacht....das Stück ist Recht steil ...genau richtig für den Jeep

Found our driver TJ to be friendly, and very Informative on the trip with local history. Very glad we had him as our driver!! the trip had a good vibe as did the group we were with My teenage sons loved the 4x4 experience especially the off road part I enjoyed all parts of the tour… due to it being very busy the volcanic pools at Porto Moniz had a very long Que when arrived, we ended up going to the free pools due to time. Also the jungle restaurant was very cheesy! Local would be better !!!!!

Die Fahrt mit dem Jeep hat sehr Spaß gemacht aber man muss hier wissen, dass es während der schnellen Fahrt schonn richtig windig ist, weil der Wagen offen ist. Der Guide hat uns zu vielen Aussichstpunkten gefahren, die wirklich schön waren. Für den Fanal Wald hätte ich mir persönlich mehr Zeit gewünscht, weil das mein persönliches Highlight war. Die Fahrt durch die engen, steilen Straßen hat für einen kleinen Adrenalinkick gesorgt. Insgesamt hat mir die Tour sehr gefallen

Het zou duidelijker moeten aangegeven worden door tui dat je eigenlijk kan lunchen( mits betaling) in een resto op plateau d sera. Wij hadden boterhammen meegenomen en toen bleekineens dat we in een resto kondenlunchen met de groep.

Es war ein fantastischer Ausflug mit vielen faszinierenden Höhepunkten. Unser Guide Julia war sehr nett und konnte alle Fragen beantworten. Der ganze Tag hat uns sehr viel Spaß gemacht, besonders das Off-road Fahren! Vielen lieben Dank an Julia. Einziger Kritikpunkt - Eintrittsgelder z.B. für Porto Moniz oder den Skywalk auf dem Cabo Girão, genauso wie ein Mittagessen im Restaurant waren nicht im Preis inbegriffen. Das hätte aus der Beschreibung des Ausflugs deutlicher hervorgehen müssen.

An enjoyable and informative day my son particularly loved the downhill offroad jeep journey on our return to Funchal. I loved the area of Fanal Forest that our guide took us to and we had plenty of time to walk around and take photographs.

This tour was fantastic from start to finish. Our guide Gil was great and he was good fun. Very knowledgeable. Lots of interesting places visited I would definitely recommend this trip.

Die Tour war sehr schön, es gab viel zu sehen. Der Guide Gil hat uns viel über Madeira erzählt und ist mit dem Jeep auch mal off road gefahren. Wir hatte bewusst eine Tour ohne Mittagessen gebucht, trotzdem wurde uns während der Fahrt ein Angebot für ein Essen gemacht, welches von zwei Personen dann auch angenommen wurde. Somit mussten wir anderen 1,5 Stunden warten bis es weiter ging. ?? Insgesamt aber eine empfehlenswerte Tour.

Een afwisselende trip van uitzichten tot stranden. Naast dat je op plaatsen komt die met de bus niet bereikbaar zijn ook nog kort kunnen zwemmen. Hoogtepunt is het avontuurlijke off-road gedeelte

Unser Guide war wirklich nett und ist auf Wünsche eingegangen. Auch das Verkehrschaos wurde souverän gelöst ;) Die Tour ist sehr vielseitig, man sieht viele Dinge - aber dafür auch nur relativ kurz. Insgesamt eine klare Empfehlung.
