What to expect

For scenery, it's hard to beat what you'll encounter on this three-lakes, two-countries tour. You'll explore lakes Maggiore, Lugano and Como, and get to spend time in Lugano, Tremezzo and Como. A perfect mix of amazing Alpine landscapes and history-steeped towns and cities.The trip begins on a high as we pass the romantic ‘floating' castles of Cannero on the western shores of Lake Maggiore. Cross the border into Switzerland, heading for Lugano, which is nestled between the peaks of San Salvatore and Monte Bré. Stroll along the palm and cypress-lined promenade, and head for the Piazza Riforma and Ciani Park for some sightseeing, or Via Nassa for some shopping.We cross back into Italy next, heading for the rustic lakeside village of Tremezzo. Admire its lavish collection of palaces. One, Villa Carlotta, can be visited. Every ceiling is a masterpiece and its art collection and botanical gardens are out of this world. Rounding off the day is a stop at Como, an elegant city that blends Italianate and Habsburg styles.

Great

The guide Luca was very informative and humorous and made the trip that much more enjoyable. Could have spent a little less time at the lunch stop in Tremezzo and more time in Como city at the end.

Fantastic tour guided by Luca. Lots of info about Maggiore as we headed into Switzerland and Lugano, beautiful place. Onto Como and even though it was 100° Tremezzo and Como were nice to see.

The first 2 stops were fine. The 3rd we never saw because with a mobility scooter we were abandoned at the drop off and spent the time waiting for coach as no directions given to get to Cathedral. No map. So disappointing and upsetting. When it says you must be able to get on the coach they do not tell you how many steep steps there are on coach. Elderly people caught out that way. Trip too long. Beautiful scenery. Fine if you are mobile.

Guide Luca was exceptional in his knowledge about the areas we visited and he was upbeat at all times it was good to get a small experience of other lakes in the region

Excellent

Lake Maggiore in Italy, Sressa is a great destination and a good centre for visiting other areas such as the Alps. Thomson have trips to enjoy without the bother of having to organize individually. Good hotel and we considered Tui was there to assist if we had problems during our visit.

Excellent resort and hotel. Steph was a great local rep and the walk around tour was most helpful. The app worked very well. My only “negative” comment was that Verona airport involved a longer journey than I’d imagined and we had to be up at 5.00 am on our last day.

I loved seeing (and swimming) in Lake Lugano, as well as Lake Como which was also very beautiful and special to see. A well organised trip that made everything easy and enjoyable. Luca, our guide, was fantastic; informative and funny and added to the whole experience. Would recommend!
