What to expect

During this full-day visit to Algarve, you’ll learn more about this region, its history and its cultural influences.In Silves, the former Moorish capital, you can visit the oldest part of the city where the largest castle in the Algarve and the oldest Cathedral are located. Climb the Serra de Monchique to Fóia, visiting the highest point of the Algarve, with time for spectacular photos. On your way down, you'll have time to make a stop for lunch.In the afternoon you'll visit Lagos, where sightseeing includes the former slave market dating back to the 15th century, the golden church of Santo António, the fortress and the old town. The tour continues to Cabo de São Vicente, the most south-western point of Europe, once known as "the end of the world". Landmarks include the great lighthouse, the great fishing port of Baleeira, and the fortress of Sagres, formerly home to the School of Navigation founded by Prince Henry the Navigator.

This is not a trip that TUI should be promoting. It takes too long to get to the first destination - 3 hours in our case from pick up. The tour guide did not tour the destinations with us, preferring to talk at length on the coach about information that was not interesting or linked to the places that we visited. The trip was expensive for 4 people and with no guided tour, no entry fees into any of the places visited included it left us thinking we had spent a lot of money on a long coach trip.
