What to expect
'The Palace of Knossos is one of the most important archaeological sites in Crete because it's where Europe's first civilisation began,' says Veta, one of our guides. A born and bred local, she knows a thing or two about the legends and myths surrounding the island's most popular attraction. You'll spend the day watching history come to life as you tour the grounds of the palace, before crossing over to Heraklion for some free time in the capital.Once the hub of Crete's Minoan civilisation, Knossos Palace sits in the heart of what's considered to be Europe's oldest settlement. You'll enjoy a guided tour around its treasures, stopping by the throne room, royal apartments, frescoes and more. And with fast-track access, there's no waiting around in queues.It's then time to head to Heraklion, the island's capital. See the 17th-century Morozini Lions fountain and the 400-year-old Venetian Loggia – which is still the city hall – during a short guided walk around the city centre. We'll round the day off by taking you to the open markets for some free time. Poke around stalls laden with hand-made trinkets and fresh local produce or stop off for a coffee at a local café for some people watching. Other must-sees include the Koule Fortress and the Church of Agios Titos. The only issue I had, I suffer from Ménière's disease and tinnitus, I found it very difficult to listen to guide in one ear, the cicadas in the other ear and on top of that other people talking as it was very busy. Nothing to do with the guide, she was brilliant, injyst found it difficult to cope with everything going on. Also would have been great if the tickets had been bought on line so we could go straight in

Die Reiseleiterin ist richtig gut! Sie hat so viel Hintergrund Geschichten erzählt, über Götter und die Insel, dass man einfach gefangen war. Im Palast ist sie auf alle Fragen eingegangen und hat alles gut im Blick gehabt. Der einzige Punkt den ich bemängeln möchte ist die Beschreibung des Ausflugs, denn das Museum ist nicht inbegriffen sondern man muss es auf eigene Faust erkunden und zahlen.

Die Tour an sich war gut. Reiseguide war super. Einzigste Manko war die Beratung beim Buchen der Fürung. Unsere Tochter ist 24 Jahre alt und für sie wäre der Eintritt für Knossos frei. D.h. wir könnten für die Tour weniger zahlen können.

Der Tour-Guide war sehr Cool und Humorvoll. Wer sich für Geschichte interessiert, ist es sehr zu empfehlen. Organisiert wurde alles top und es war immer pünktlich. In Knossos hatte man 30min für sich alleine nach 1,5h tour und in Heraklion ca 2,5h für sich nach 30min mini tour, was an sich cool war, wir konnten beide Museen anschauen was sehr interessant war und was essen. Der Hafen ist zu empfehlen. Im großen und ganzen ganz nett, mehr Zeit in Knossos wäre schön gewesen.

Heraklion est globalement une ville sans intérêt majeur. , en plus, nous n’avons eu que peu d’explications. Knossos est un beau site mais bondé de monde. La guide était très erudite mais très dispersée dans ses explications, ce qui devenait incompréhensible. En outre, pour le prix de l’excursion, il est incompréhensible qu’un repas ne soit pas inclus. Nous sommes globalement très déçus de cette excursion

Poppy our tour guide was incredible and made the trip. Would have loved to have been able to have done a tour of the museum with her in the afternoon rather than just having free time in Heraklion or even having the option of just going to Knossos without going to Heraklion.

Schade dass bei der Tour nicht einmal im Bus Getränke angeboten wurden ( 35c ). Bei der Rückfahrt funktionierte die Klimaanlage im Bus nicht mehr. Gefühlt waren es im Bus 45 C . Der Palast von Knossos ist eigentlich nicht sehenswert.

Pas grand chose à dire de négatif à part peut-être l'endroit où il faut attendre. Même si on nous explique où il se trouve, nous pensions que le guide serait là avec le bus, en fait non, le bus arrive sans qu'on sache vraiment que c'est celui là et c'est le chauffeur qui nous embarque. Le guide arrive bien après, lors d'un autre arrêt et commence là à nous expliquer le déroulement de la journée. Il faudrait juste peut-être nous prévenir avant pour être plus clair.

My partner is disabled, and uses a wheelchair for longer distances, we was told the coach would come down and be one step on, it turned out to be 5 steps, which she had to crawl up, causing bruises to her legs this was the only down side, the tour guide Popi was amazing, the parts of the palace we couldn't see, she caught us up at the end, and showed us what we missed. And that Uneso are making it more disability friendly, the heraklion city tour was insightful and informative.

De gids was helder en duidelijk in uitleg. Qua organisatie: de trip was verplaatst, er was geen trip op zaterdag. Hadden we niet zelf per toeval eerder in de week een vraag gesteld aan een Tui medewerker , hadden we dit niet geweten en hadden we niet kunnen gaan. Contact vanuit Tui centraal (waar geboekt is) was dus niet correct.

The guide was very knowledgeable but to stand in the blazing heat for 25 minutes to see ( very badly) some rocks was a complete waste of time! It was €67 each and only €20 to enter! We hardly saw anything compared to other visitors who could take their time to look around. It was very boring and a waste of money!

La visite du palais de Knossos me paraissait indispensable pour notre séjour en Crète. Il s'agit d’un site archéologique majeur sur l'île. Notre guide Eleana fut très intéressante à écouter. Prévoir de l’eau pour la visite et notre parapluie ombrelle fut bien utile. Le temps libre à Heraklion ensuite permet un peu de shopping dans les ruelles et de se promener sur la jetée.

Geboekt voor een Nederlandse tour. Terecht gekomen tussen Fransen. Het ( nieuwe) ai vertaalsysteem werkte van geen kant! Na de overstap op het oude systeem beter, maar de Franse uitleg duurde erg lang in vergelijking met de Nederlandse! Steeds erg lang wachten en stilstaan in de brandende zon.....we hadden beter de Engelse uitleg kunnen lezen. Heraclion was leuk en je had genoeg vrije tijd.

We had a brilliant day. Irene, our guide, was so friendly and knowledgeable and her enthusiasm about Knossos was evident and all without a script. In knossos waren we met een relatief grote groep rondom 1 gids. Dat maakte dat het af en toe bij sommige plekken eigenlijk wat te druk naar onze zin was. De gids wist wel heel veel te vertellen over de ruïne dus het was zeker wel interessant!

L’hôtel est très agréable L’alimentation est très diversifiée et de ********** qualité L’animation est très bien organisée Point négatif, le couloir aérien de l’aéroport principal passe au dessus de l’hôtel pour l’atterrissage des avions ce qui est parfois pénible. Jusqu’à un avion toutes les 5 minutes !!! En 2029, l’aéroport national va changer de site 😄

Unser Tourguide Johanna war super. Sie war sehr aufmerksam und hat die Tour sehr gut geleitet. Man hat viel von der Geschichte und den Palast erfahren. Dabei hatte sie stets Augen auf unsere Kinder und meine Frau, die nicht so gut zu Fuß ist. Als auf dem Rückweg der Bus liegen blieb hat sie das auch gut gelöst, es war leian Problem.

Die Führung in Knossos hat uns gut gefallen. Tourguide und Fahrer waren sehr freundlich. Allerdings war uns nicht klar, dass es in Heraklion keine Führung gibt. Wir waren dann im archäologischen Museum, wo auch Absetzt- und Treffpunkt waren. Wir waren eine der ersten, die Morgens abgeholt wurden. Die Anfahrt mit Abholung aller Teilnehmer dauerte rund 3 Std., die Rückfahrt ca. 2 Std. Alles in allem eine viel zu lange Fahrzeit. Deshalb leider kein Empfehlung für unseren Ausgangsort Georgioupoli.

The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and engaging - so many added little snippets of mythology, historical facts and her obvious passion for her island and its history was infectious! Best guide I’ve ever had anywhere! Given that entry ticket showed a price of Euro20, even with a guide and transport, this was an expensive trip at Euro70 each. The afternoon visit to Heraklion cost nothing to TUI (save the transfer) so the price is a lot of profit (as is true of all excursions).

We really enjoyed our tour guides real enthusiasm and great knowledge on the topic of mythology and the palace of Knossos, she really clearly enjoys telling the stories, what was not so nice was that the tour felt a little rushed, and the bottle of water that we purchased was extortionately priced

Bus hatte Verspätung.: Abfahrt geplant 9.40, Abfahrt tatsächlich 10.10. Es gab kein Wasser im Bus! Das Preisleistungsverhältnis stimmt hier nicht:. 2 Stunden in Knossos mit ausführlicher Erläuterung durch den Guide und 35 Minuten Führung Heraklion. RUNDGANG=Strasse Dädalus und dann gezeigt wo es zum Hafen geht und wo die Marktstrasse ist. Danach Freizeit bis 15.45 mit anschließender Rückfahrt Frau Eleni war sehr gut und hat ausführlich berichtet.

De excursie was goed geregeld alleen werd ik niet op de afgesproken plaats afgehaald. Er was die dag een hittegolf en omdat er kinderen en ouderen bij betrokken zijn waren er wel veel zorgen voor hun veiligheid. De gids stond de hele dag in de volle zon en wees haar klanten erop om zoveel mogelijk in de schaduw te blijven.

Heel saaie, te uitgebreide uitleg bij bezoek aan Knossos en daardoor niet kindvriendelijk. Heraklion op zich was wel leuk. Busrit heen/terug was veel te lang (1u45), dit terwijl we op 35 min. van Heraklion verbleven. Had ik dit op voorhand geweten had ik de excursie zelf gepland.

Veldig lang busstur til Knossos ! Det tok tre timer! Og buss sjåføren kjefta og bråka- hovenhet 20 min utenfor feil hotell- han virka veldig lite forberedt . Heldigvis ble noen på bussen sendt med egen taxi på hjemturen. Da tok turen bare to timer. Guiden var seriøs og dyktig , men i Heraklion virket det som han ikke skjønte at han ikke hadde oss direkte så han pratet stadig vekk på steder hvor ingen hørte noe som helst 😅

Sehr nette Tour Guide (Ioanna) die viel Wissen und Informationen geteilt hat, sowohl während der Fahrt zum Palast (über Kreta und verschiedenen griechische Sagen) als auch im Palast von Knossos. Es wäre wünschenswert gewesen wenn Tui (da eine Tui Tour) einen Tour-Zeitplan geteilt hätte. Da es eine Ganztagstour war, haben einige Teilnehmer (wie auch wir) den 2ten Teil in Heraklion (Brunnen, Hafen) nicht mitgemacht sondern sind Essen und Souvenirs kaufen gegangen. Im Bus war Essen nicht erlaubt.

Positiv: pünktliche Abholung im Hotel, super Guide , mit viel Fachwissen und war sehr gut organisiert und um uns besorgt , das wir immer pünktlich zum Bus zurückfinden. Negativ: wir hätten gerne in Knossos noch Zeit führ uns gehabt um nochmal auf eigene Faust die Stellen zu erkunden wo man nicht mit der Gruppe war.

Knossos selbst ist ein Muss, wenn man auf Kreta ist. Wir würden diesen Besuch aber nicht mit einer so großen Gruppe (45 Personen) weiter empfehlen. Die Busfahrt (auch wenn angekündigt) wird durch das einsammeln der Teilnehmer extrem in die Länge gezogen. Die Reiseführerin hat mit Sicherheit ein sehr großes Wissen über Knossos, aber es wurde nicht wirklich gut rüber gebracht. Die Zeit in Heraklion selbst war zu knapp. Beides kann man auch gut selbst erkunden, ohne diese riesengroße Gruppe.

Travaux sur la route donc temps reduit à la visite totale du site Blue bay trop éloigné donc taxi et attente à un autre hôtel mais prise en charge excellente sauf que nous n'étions pas prévenu pour taxi Le temps à héraklion est plutôt court quand on ne connaît rien de la ville Cela dit pour découvrir la région à son rythme il vaut mieux louer une voiture.ce que nous avons fait.😁

Het was heel warm die dag, superdruk over de hele site en hebben veel moeten wandelen. Soms was het wat eentonig en had je de indruk dat je dit beter op eigen houtje had proberen te doen, op een ander en veel rustiger tijdstip.

Due to how busy it was and the speed of the guide I kept on going out of range to hear on the headphones provided. The site was very busy and we spent a lot of the time for the site visit queuing to see a chair, hence other parts of the site were not seen.
