What to expect
On this tour you'll cross the Strait of Messina by ferry and explore the island that's virtually a country in itself – Sicily. And while the drive is long, some trips are worth it. This trip gives you the perfect introduction to Taormina, with around four hours of free time to explore.It all begins with a journey through some spectacular scenery. Travelling along untouched areas of the Calabrian countryside, you'll take in wow-factor panoramas between mountain and sea before crossing the strait to Sicily. Hit dry land and we'll head to Taormina where there's free time to explore the historic monuments and hilltop vistas.A must-see is the ancient Greek theatre – perched atop cliffs over the Med, you can see Mount Etna lurking on the horizon. You'll also have a chance to shop on the quaint high-street and do some exploring on your own.

This is a special experience with a well educated guide of many languages giving lots of information x it’s a crazy long day with a window of exploring for 3 hours in a beautiful city of Sicily….we felt guide told us lots of information but did switch off on journey .. a perfect solution for myself and.Husband …. a map … of city .. with top tips of tourist information and given time of day … where to eat .

Marine was a brilliant guide. Really enjoyed Sicily, a little too many tourists. Wasn't very impressed with some of the locals resturanteers. They ignored you or just had a very disinterested attitude. It had just finished raining and one of the restaurants wanted to put a few of us in the open and we waited 5mins for chairs to be wiped dry but they were to busy talking amongst themselves so we left. We did eventually find a lovely little cafe and enjoyed our lunch

- sehr lange Fahrt, was sich aber nicht vermeiden lässt - trotzdem wäre es schön, wenn man 1-2 h mehr Zeit auf Sizilien gehabt hätte, um Taormina mehr zu genießen - Guide hat leider manchmal mit Erklärungen nicht gewartet, bis alle da waren und es hören konnten, sonst aber sehr nett - Busfahrer hat uns sehr sicher durch die engsten Gassen gefahren -

Eines vorweg: Die Stadt Taormina, unsere Guide Maxime und Busfahrer Franco waren klasse!!! Was uns jedoch garnicht gefallen hat, war die Organisation! Bisher kannte ich jeden Ausflug nach dem Prinzip First in/Last out. Hier wurden die im TUI-Hotel zu Fahrtbeginn zugestiegenen Fahrtgäste bevorzugt, indem sie zuerst zurückgebracht wurden und alle anderen Fahrtgäste dadurch einen Umweg von ca. 2 Stunden auf sich nehmen mussten … das ist nicht akzeptabel! Nie wieder Ausflug mit TUI ??????

Das Preis-Leistungs-Verhältniss stimmt bei diesem Ausflug unserer Meinung nach gar nicht. Es war schlecht organisiert. Die Tour hieß Sizilien Erleben, wir haben 10 Stunden im Bus gesessen (ohne wirklich interessanten Informationen über Sizilien) und gerade 2,5 Stunden Aufenthalt in dem Ort gehabt, die dadurch noch verkürzt waren das die Fahrt mit dem Shuttle Bus überhaupt nicht organisiert war. Einige Informationen von der Reiseleitung waren schlichtweg falsch. Völlig überteuert!

Das war mit 12 Stunden unser längster Ausflug. Fährüberfahrt über die Straße von Messina ist sehr interessant. Das Ort Taormina auf Sizilien ist sehenswert. In dem Städtchen kann man Bummeln und den einen oder anderen tollen Ausblick genießen. Es gibt verschiedene Einkaufsmöglichkeiten und tolle landestypische Restaurants. Wir fanden den Ausflug sehr schön. Vielen Dank auch an unsere Reiseleiterin Maxin.

Unsere Reiseleiterin Maxin war top, wir haben sehr viel interessante Infos von ihr erhalten. Die Reise ist anstrengend, man erhält jedoch sehr viele Eindrücke von der Gegend. Ob sich die Aufenthaltsdauer (ca. 3 1/2 Std..) in Taormina in Relation zur Reisezeit (gesamt ca. 7 Std.) steht, muss jeder selbst entscheiden.

The trip was not what we was told it was going to be. The guide spoke in different languages which in each language it was poor. The guide was not very informative and we all on the coach never learned anything, this was down to the poor translation of all languages. The trip was far to long with added coach journeys that we didn't expect. Very disappointed with Tui for the first time, the money we spent was our hard earned money which didn't warrant the trip. Very ket down by Tui !

We loved the trip, the views to the ferry port were beautiful. Maxine told us lots of interesting information and despite us being the only English people, she made sure we did not miss out. It was a lot of travelling but worth it, the ferry was great too. Taormina itself was stunning and we definitely would like to return. My only suggestion for improvement, would be let us know the order of drop off hotels before the ferry as if we realised we'd be last we could have got food there.

Alles in allem hat gepasst. Doch die Anreise war sehr lang....der Aufhält sehr schön Die Reiseleitung sehr nett...hat viel erzählt Der Bussfahrer auch sehr nett u guter Fahrstiel Doch die Heimfahrt war dann sehr anstrengend so heiss u man ist schon müde. 6 std im Bus für 4 Std Aufenthalt???

Anfahrt gut, Reiseleiterin okay, freundlich. Bus unbequem. Sizilien Freizeit super, Preise Essen und shoppen teuer. Schöne Stadt mit Sehenswürdigkeiten. Rückfahrt mit Stau schlimm und sehr lang, die Straßen hier eine Katastrophe! Rückenschmerzen danach einplanen. Riesige neue Fähre war sehr schön!

It was a long day but worth it for a taste of life in Sicily. About a 3 hour drive to the ferry with a short break on the way. The coach drove us straight on to the ferry and before I realised we were on the way. The ferry only took about 15 mins so we head no sooner left the coach to sit on the ferry than it was time to get back on the coach again. Another fairly long coach journey then we had 3 hours to ourselves in Taormina which is lovely..

The trip was far too long on the coach picking up/ dropping off customers- approximately 5 hours so the time in Taormina was quite short. It would have been nice to have an hour or 2 in Messina or at the coastal part of Tarmi a. Using smaller feeder coaches would cut the overall travel time as the roads in Calabria are slow so doing as is done in Krakow would help by having smaller vehicles bring people to a central point. Taormina lovely. 8.5 hours travel wrong balance

Am Zielort gab es keine Informationen über die historischen Gebäude der Stadt und ihrer Geschichte. Informationen gab es nur während der Busfahrt. Am Ziel angekommen, wurden wir 3 Stunden uns selber überlassen, und dann wieder in den Bus!

Schöner Ausflug, etwas lang halt weil x Hotels abgeklappert werden müssen bis alle Teilnehmer beieinander sind. Es wäre schön, wenn man die Tickets für das Theater in Taomina schon von den Reiseleiterinnen hätte bekommen können, um Zeit beim Anstehen zu sparen. Ansonsten waren wir sehr zufrieden!

Es war eine sehr lange Fahrt, dies hätte man vorher genauer angeben können. Zunächst 3 1/2 Std mit dem Bus zur Fähre, dann 20 Minuten Fahrt, dann Busumstieg und dann nochmals ne 1 Std Fahrt. Dann hatte man gut 3 Std Zeit allein. Stadt ganz nett, aber sehr überlaufen. Dann die Rückfahrt etwas kürzer.

Der Ausflug ansicht ist seht schön, Taormina ist ein schöner Ort und man hat einen tollen Ausblick auf den Ätna. Negativ war die dreisprachige Information in Englisch, Deutsch und Polnisch, sowas nerviges, 3 Reiseleiterinnen und 2 davon hören sich selber wohl gerne reden. Informationen sind gut und wichtig, aber was zu viel ist, ist zuviel. Selbst auf der Rückfahrt der sehr langen Fahrt, gibt es kein Halten und der Redeschwall hört nicht auf.

Die Reisegruppe war viel zu gross. Die Hotels sind zu weit auseinander, was die Fahrtzeit unnötig verlängert. Die dreisprachige Reiseleitung ist störend. Die Gäste aus dem Hotel TUI Magic Life sollten in einem separaten Transfer transportiert werden. Ca 50 Teilnehmer mussten eine Stunde Fahrtzeit in Kauf nehmen wegen ein paar Gäste aus diesem Hotel

Far too much travelling , was told only about 2 hours travel each way. Turned out to be at least 8.5 hours in total and only 3.1/4 hours in Sicily. A very long tiring day. Basically a very expensive coach journey. Some people on tour told only 1.1/2 hours journey each way.

Zukünftig sollte man den Ausflug in Personengruppen aufteilen, deren Hotels in der Nähe liegen. Bei der Rückreise war das 1. Hotel der Hinreise ebenfalls das 1. Hotel, welches man angefahren hat. D.h. Man fährt an sämtlichen Hotels vorbei, in denen Leute hätten aussteigen können. Macht gar kein Sinn. Grundsätzlich wäre es deshalb besser, nahegelegenen Hotelbesucher zu bündeln und damit einen Bus losschicken. Hier spart man sich extrem viel Zeit.

Enjoyed the trip. The driver Vincenzo was lovely. There was a delay at one hotel as guests weren’t ready & then again getting on the bus. At times it felt quite rushed & time pressured. The guide was good & knowledgeable but unfortunately due to only a small amount of British guests it was geared to the German passengers. Overall it was a very enjoyable trip

The overall trip was great. Unfortunately there was only 3 English couples on the trip so the majority of the information given by the tour guide was in German so missed a lot of the information. When we arrived in taormino the tour guide didn't let us know in English what the itinerary was we had to work out ourselves where we needed to meet. We were literally given a time to meet. Not impressed

Le chauffeur était parfait, son bus était ancien et bruyant. La guide était loquace, mais peu d'informations sur l'histoire et le quotidien italiens. La gastronomie locale était son sujet principal. Son implication pour nous faire découvrir Taormine se limite à nous montrer les différentes directions vers les sites touristiques et à nous indiquer un restaurant. Elle était très gentille, mais cela n'a pas suffit pour nous rendre le voyage aussi intéressant que nous l'espérions.

Es gibt absolut nichts was mir nicht gefallen hat. Das Hotel hervorragend, der Service top, das Sportprogramm ein Highlight und eine sehr, sehr freundliche und herzliche Trainerin, Essen und Trinken super, Zimmer sauber, die Anlage super schön, der Strand ein Traum. Man hat sich zu jeder Zeit Willkommen gefühlt. Sehr, sehr empfehlenswert.

Viel zu kurzer Aufenthalt auf Sizilien, letztendlich nur knappe drei Stunden! Dafür fast 7 Stunden im Bus und auf der Fähre. Auf Nachfrage - wegen hohen Parkgebühr in Taormina. Auch keine Führung auf Sizilien. Für das ganze dann doch 89,00€? Im Nachhinein würde ich es auf jeden Fall auf eigene faust mit dem Zug und Fähre machen! Taormina ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert!

We kregeb goede uitleg in de bus, dit maakte de reis wat korter en het uitzegt en bezoek van Sicilie interessanter. De resi was echter wel erg lang, we hebben meer als 8 uur in de bus gezeten om een paar uur in sicilie te zijn. De uitleg vooraf is niet duidelijk geweest hierover. Verder dacht ik dat ze gezegd hadden dat we ook Messina zouden bezoeken, hier zijn we enkel door gereden. Als we de juiste info vantevoren gehad hadden, hadden we de trip niet geboekt.

Hallo die Reise war sehr schön. Aber es war eine Unverschämtheit, dass Gäste aus Magic Life Hotel Richtung Lamezia auf der Rückfahrt zuerst rausgelassen wurden. Es wird an Tropea praktisch vorbeigefahren und dann wieder zurück. Wenn man halt das Hotel hat was am weitesten weg ist , ist es normal dass man auch am längsten fahren muss. Dafür werden die Leute aus Tropea , santa Donenica etc… mit bestraft . Unmöglicher Service ist das …..

Die Reiseführerin , die uns nach Taormina begleitet hat, war sehr engagiert. The ques for the amphitheater would have meant if we had joined them we would not have seen anything else.. Große Empfehlung! Trotz längerer Fahrt (~3 Std ab Pizzo) würde ich diesen Ausflug immer wieder buchen. Taormina ist eine unglaublich schöne Stadt, es gibt so viel zu sehen und der Flair ist einfach atemberaubend! Unsere Reisebegleiterin Mimi war super lieb, mit viel interessantem Wissen und ganz tollen Tipps :)

A convenient way to visit Sicily. The cost of €178 euro for 2 people was a lot higher than if we had caught the train which would have been less than €40 euro, but would have taken an extra hour each way with 2 changes. We had about 3.5 hours to roam the streets of Taormina. During this time we tried local foods and visited local places of interest along with some shopping. If you walk to the end of the town you can get a photo of Etna - weather permitting!!!

Das einzige Manko waren die nörgelnden und stänkernden Franzosen, die sich eine Tour in Deutsch/Englisch gebucht haben und sich wunderten, dass sie nichts verstanden! It was good to see a different place. We had been considering Sicily for a future holiday so it was good to see what it had to offer, even though we only saw a small part of it. It was a very long day but our guide and driver were excellent. We were the only English people on the trip, all others were German but our guide spoke English and German very well and kept us informed all the time.

Uns gefiel es nicht,das der Aufenthalt in Taormina nur 2,5 Stunden war,statt 4 Stunden.wäre es 3,5 Stunden gewesen,ist es ok.würden diesen Ausflug nicht mehr buchen,bei diesem kurzem Aufenthalt. Die reiseleitung war nervig,bei der busfahrt ahhh das gibt es Kirschen,dachte Sie hätte einen sexuell akt:).Das war eben paar mal uns nervend.auch die dauerbeschallung von dies und das nervte schon,alles von einem Buch abgelesen und nicht in eigene Worte.da kann ich lebst lesen

Taormina ist eine wunderschöne, kleine Sehenswerte Stadt. Schade nur, daß wir Zeit eingebüßt haben beim warten auf die Fähre, da eine defekt war. Der Busfahrer und Reiseleiter haben ihren Job gut gemacht.

It should be made clearer the length of time travelling on the coach. From Cala di Volpa. Pick up was 7.30am and we didn’t get back to the hotel until 7.45pm. Also both guides left the bus before our hotel. We were dropped off on Stromboli at the side of the road in the dark and had no idea whether the hotel knew to send the shuttle bus for us. I used the torch on my phone and walked back in the dark with another couple. Some stayed and waited. Guide should be there until all clients safely back

Hôtel peu recommandable Nous avons eu une chambre sous la réception et à côté d’une pièce de lavoir Je laisse donc imaginer le bruit que nous avons eu pendant notre séjour Service déjeuner pas top du tout et le personnel de l’hôtel sont pas très professionnel et peu souriant Le reste, l’extérieur et le décor du pays reste magnifique et rien a dire mais l’hôtel lui même était vraiment une mauvaise expression

Sicily was fabulous. The place we visited was stunning and I’d definitely go again. There were 2 guides on the coach and unfortunately the German one liked to have the microphone so the English guide didn’t get to tell us much. It all seemed aimed for the Germans. It was also a lot of travelling which is fine if you know that you actually only get about 3.5 hours in Taormina. I thought we also got time in Messina but this was just a look around the church.

Lovely trip from Calabria to Sicily by coach and ferry across Messina Strait. Ferry was good fun and great opportunity to have a drink and a snack. The coach trip was a lot longer than expected so a little frustrating. We would have enjoyed it if there was less traffic and some entertainment on the bus. Taormina was excellent; busy but friendly. The Amphitheatre is mandatory and good value at €10 for adults. Free for children. The excellent Narcisse perfumery is thoroughly recommended.

Insgesamt war es eine lange Fahrt bis Taormina. Die Stadt insgesamt ist sehr schön. Es gibt vieles zu sehen. Messina kam recht kurz, die Besichtigung der Kathedrale war auch nur kurz möglich. Die Verkostung des lokalen Gebäcks könnte weggelassen werden. Schade war auch, dass die Guides keine Führung in Taormina machen konnten. Insgesamt war die Organisation aber gut und es war ein schöner Ausflug.

This trip was very much structured by the needs of the guide. The restaurant recommended by the guide provided the group with a different menu to its other diners…ie. the menu with various deals and ‘small bites’, and the flyer I received in the street which was promoting these deals was swiftly removed from me as I sat down. The experience of travelling to Sicily was great. But this is not a tour, just a supervised taxi service across, then left to tour alone. It should be made very clear this is what you are booking. Some people may enjoy the alone time in a shopping tourist area, we booked for a heritage tour expecting just that. Worth it just see some of sicily, and the 'tour guide' was lovely. But not worthy of the costs.

Excellent guide and driver on the trip. Stunning views of Mt Etna from Taormina. I felt the trip was quite expensive with a lot of time spent in the coach but overall an interesting and enjoyable excursion.
