What to expect
On the 19th of September 2021 a new volcanic crater was formed near La Palma. The volcano previously known as Cumbre Vieja erupted, completely changing the landscape west of the city. Hiking 6.5km on the newly christened Tajogaite – cracked mountain – you'll almost reach the crater. From here, awesome views of the lava flows and the Aridane Valley open up.

Eine sehr interessante Tour. Unser Guide (Merle) war einfach super und hat sehr viele interessante Sachen bzgl. des Vulkans erzählt und war jederzeit für weitere Fragen ansprechbar. Die Tour ist auch für nicht so erfahrene Wanderer geeignet. Man sollte sich auf jeden Fall im „Zwiebellook“ einkleiden, da es am Anfang der Tour oben auf dem Berg kalt ist. Sehr empfehlenswert :-)

Ik moest vanuit mijn hotel La Palma Princess zelf naar het vertrekpunt rijden; dus huurauto verplicht en de route erheen is best een avontuur op zich vanwege de lavastroom uit 2021. Eenmaal in El Paso aangekomen is alles perfect geregeld door La Isla Bonita tours (dus niet door Tui). Onze gids Simon was fantastisch! We kwamen heel dichtbij de vulkaan, super mooi.

Goed en duidelijk geregeld, goede en enthousiaste gids die veel kon vertellen. Mooie wandeling met goed zicht op de kraters van de nieuwe vulkaan. Na afloop nog een indrukwekkende busrit over de nieuw aangelegde weg over het lavaveld waardoor de omvang van de verwoesting nog duidelijker werd. Wat een veerkracht toont men op dit eiland in het herbouwen van wat is verdwenen!

Abholzeit im Sommer erst um 10:30. dadurch kommt man in die Mittagshitze. an dem Tag gab es Alerta aufgrund sehr hoher Temperaturen. der Ausflug fand trotzdem Statt. Mitnahme von Wasser und luftiger Kleidung wurde empfohlen. positiv dass es Walking Stoecke gab.

De excursie is opzich goed maar het vertrek om 10.30 uur is veel te laat. Gevolg is dat de kans op een heldere lucht veel kleiner is en de vulkaan en omringende gebieden in de wolken zitten. Erg jammer. Los daarvan splijt het je dag. Als je eerder vertrekt, bijv. 09.00 uur kom je vroeg in de middag terug zodat er dan nog wat gedaan kam worden.

Our guide and driver were excellent - Sylvie/a handled telling us complex information in multiple languages brilliantly. Enjoyed the walk, views and information. Useful to be provided with walking poles if required. Should have been warned about no toilet facilities throughout the time before starting the visit. Starting pickups at 10-30 meant the hike itself was during the hottest part of day - more sensible to do earlier?

The logistics of collecting the tour participants together on time was impressive. The briefing and organising of the group was v good and the actual trek down to the end of the route was well controlled by Jonas who also explained generally and to individuals the many interesting sights and facts. It was every bit as good as I'd hoped it would be plus, the bonus of the drive back through the lava fields and the information about the reconstruction of faclities etc, was v informative.

We wasn’t told to take warm clothing as the morning at the start point was cold, damp and very windy. You should probably advise future customers to take warm clothing. We were on a tour ran by Isla bonita tours and the only tu customers on the trip, everyone else was dressed for the conditions.

Bei einer geführten Tour ist es besonders wichtig, einen guten Reiseführer/Reiseführerin zu haben. Wir hatten Glück. Die noch recht junge Merle hat uns in ihrer netten Art alles Wissenswerte über den Vulkan, aber auch über Land und Leute erzählt. Es war eine wirklich sehr schöne, interessante Tour. Wir können sie auf jeden Fall weiter empfehlen.

Merle war eine fantastische Reiseleiterin und die Tour war mega interessant. Sie macht es erst das zweite Jahr, hat aber alle Touris in ihren Bann gezogen. Weiter so. Kleiner Verbesserungsvorschlag: Vielleicht sollte man auf dem Parkplatz, wo man losgeht, ein kleines Toilettenhäuschen hinstellen, da der Wald ansonsten langfristig keine Freude hat ...

Informationen zum Vulkan, seiner Entstehung und Vulkanen auf La Palma im allgemeinen waren sehr gut. Das Asche dieses Vulkan nicht pulvrig und weich ist war eine Überraschung für mich. Auch das wir nicht auf erkalteter Lava laufen sondern Knöchel tief in klein steiniger Asche laufen habe ich nicht erwartet. Eine Interessent und informative Führung.

An excellent hike to near the volcano crater. The route is a new one which comes in from the South of the crater and the guide Sophie who was brilliant said it was better. It is not too demanding as it is mainly downhill, in places the sand you walk on is deep but any climbs are short and very manageable. There was also a cool breeze which helped. The pickup and trip to the hike starting point was well organised.

Bijzonder mooi omgeving; de moeite waard om 8 km te gaan lopen ....maar zwaar 5 uur achter elkaar lopen zonder pause op een pad vol zand. Jammer dat niet goed georganiseerd is met meer pauzes en vooral een lunch pauze. Silvia de gids fijn mens maar geen begrip van wandelen en GENIETEN ...het moest door en door .want we moesten op tijd terug zijn. Te kort qua tijd voor zo een mooi belevenis. Gezien bij andere groepen dat er pauzes werden genomen en werd anders beleefd.

Wenn ein Guide all die Erklärungen, die notwendig sind um die Dinge zu verstehen in 3 Sprachen vermitteln kann und auch noch Fragen beantworten kann während man Anstiege erläuft, dann ist das aller Ehre wert. Dazu gehört auch auf Menschen ein- und zuzugehen. Vielen Dank dafür. Leider war die Wegebfestingung nicht so gut und man hatte die Vulkanasche in den Schuhen und den feinen Staub in der Lunge. Schön wäre eine Bank im Schatten um die Schuhe zu entleeren und eine Luftdusche zum entstauben.

Romeo hat bei der Wanderung sich sehr gut um die Gruppe gekümmert und war sehr informativ und kompetent. Der Transfer mit Merle als Begleitung war angenehm, der Busfahrer war top. Buchung und Rückfragen von Deutschland aus problemlos. Mails wurden zügig beantwortet. Toiletten am Startpunkt wären hilfreich.

Excursion was very interesting. Simon our guide was amazing. He was so very informative and knowledgeable, as well as so much fun. Our only small criticism was we were all standing in wrong place at meeting point. Maybe a little more specific with exact meeting place. Would stop any confusion. Also a bit clearer if transport is included or not. I thought it was, so had to arrange a bus to visitor center. Amazing trip. Amazing guide.

Die Tour für sich genommen ist ein Erlebnis. War sehr gut organisiert und der Guide ist auf jeden eingegangen und hat Fragen beantwortet. Die gruppengroesse war ok aber auch vorgegeben. Der Guide ist auch sehr gut auf die unterschiedlichen Fitnessgrade der Teilnehmer eingegangen

Very enjoyable trip. Simon our guide was very informative and made the walk most enjoyable. There's nowhere to buy food so bring a packed lunch to eat on the way back. A scheduled toilet stop at the visitors centre would be good please.

Die Guides sollten kurz einen Einblick über ihren Hintergrund (Ausbildung) geben. Von einem 'normalem' Hiking Guide ohne weitere wissenschaftliche Ausbildung würde ich keine vollständig korrekten geologischen Fakten erwarten. Es wäre auch schön, wenn der Ablauf der Tour (z.B. Toilettenstops) für alle Teilnehmer im Vorfeld mitgeteilt würde.

Easy 5km walk - an incline on the way back but nothing an active walker couldn't easily do. Be prepared for the guide to stop regulalry for up to 15 mins each time - which was a bit frustrating. They're only allowed one group at a time at the main viewing point. The day we went the weather was cold and wet on th mountain so i'd advise regardless of sea level weather/heat - to take water proofs and windproof clothing. which isn't advised in the trip notes. Good to see the volcano up close.
