What to expect

Your day ticket grants you admission to four intriguing museums, including the air-raid shelter. The Fuggerei, the world's oldest existing social housing estate, is a remarkable sight with its 67 houses and 142 apartments, not forgetting its own church. This historical site was founded by Jakob Fugger in 1521 on behalf of his brothers. Today, it serves as home to around 150 Augsburg citizens of the Catholic faith who are in need. These residents pay an annual rent of just €0.88 and offer three prayers a day.The Fuggerei isn’t just a place to live; it’s also a living museum. You can explore the four museums within its boundaries, each offering a different perspective on life in this extraordinary community. One of these museums features a reconstructed historical apartment, providing a glimpse into the past. Another highlight is the exhibition in the World War II bunker, which offers a stark reminder of the city's turbulent history. These fascinating exhibits are open daily for visitors, offering an immersive experience into a piece of living history. Your entrance fee allows you access to all these attractions, making your visit both educational and memorable.
