What to expect

A laidback stroll through Funchal's Old Town sets the tone, with its painted doors, narrow streets and lively market adding plenty of charm. Then, the route climbs to Monte for 360‑degree views, a look at the former estate of a wealthy Portuguese family and a visit to the Sanctuary of Nossa Senhora do Monte, resting place of Emperor Karl I. The tour wraps up with a scenic drive through eucalyptus forests to Eira do Serrado, where a 600-metre viewpoint reveals Nun's Valley below – a spot some believe to be an ancient volcanic crater.

Die Tour war sehr sehr schön. Die verschiedenen Aussichtspunkte waren traumhaft. Leider konnten wir keinen Korbschlitten fahren, da die Schlange sehr lang war. Aber unser Guide hat daraufhin eine kleine Abkürzung mit uns genommen und so sind wir im Auto dann steile Abgänge runter. War wirklich sehr lustig. Unser Guide hat sich wirklich sehr viel Mühe gegeben deutsch zu sprechen und uns viel erzählt und gezeigt. Ich kann diese Tour auf jeden Fall weiterempfehlen. Top!

Der Tour Guide hat viel über die Insel, die Sehenswürdigkeiten und das Leben auf der Insel erklärt. Sehr sehenswerte Orte und am besten die Korbschlittenfahrt.

The trip surpassed all our expectations and was a real highlight of the holiday. Two adults and three kids (18, 13, 11) all enjoyed it. From the first part, the toboggan ride in Monte, to the tour of the Nuns’ Valley and visits to viewing points and beautiful villages, it was a great day out.
