What to expect
You'll experience the Palatinate region on a full-day excursion to the spa town of Bad Dürkheim, located along Germany's Wine Route. Travelling in a small group by van, you'll explore a landscape of rolling vineyards while learning about the area's culinary traditions, local culture and wine-making heritage.Your visit begins with a walk to the historic saltworks, known as the graduation tower. Here, you'll feel the salty air and hear how salt was once produced in the region. You'll also see the Dürkheim Giant Barrel, recognised as the world's largest barrel, before visiting nearby Brühlwiesenplatz, home to the Dürkheim Sausage Market. During your visit, you'll learn how this event developed into the world's largest wine festival.You'll then have free time for lunch, allowing you to try typical regional dishes at your own pace. In the afternoon, the focus turns to wine, with tastings in two distinctive locations. First, you'll sample wines in a setting inspired by Roman history, followed by a visit to a selected winery where you'll discover more about the wines that have made the Palatinate region famous. The day combines local history, regional food and wine experiences in one of Germany's best-known wine-producing areas.
