What to expect

Ready to head beyond the beaches of Sharm and see some of Egypt’s mysterious masterpieces? This jam-packed full-day tour whisks you across the Red Sea by plane to Luxor, the city known as the world’s greatest open-air museum. The Nile splits the city, and both its east and west banks are bursting with ancient moments that you’ll visit, including the Valley of the Kings, Hatshepsut Temple, Karnak Temple and the Colossi of Memnon. You'll catch a flight to Luxor in the early hours of the morning and head straight to your first stop of the day, the Valley of the Kings – home to 63 royal tombs, famously including Tutankhamun. You’ll venture into three tombs, spotting vivid wall paintings and hieroglyphs along the walls until you reach the 3,500-year-old burial chambers – talk about a sense of awe!Next, you’ll head to the ancient Temple of Hatshepsut, nestled into the cliffs by the Nile, and a little further along you’ll be faced with two of the most imposing statues you’re ever likely to see. The staggering Colossi of Memnon are two monumental statues of the Pharaoh Amenhotep III, and they make for quite the selfie. Rest your legs with a set menu lunch break at a local restaurant, before your final stop of the day, the sprawling complex of towering temples, chapels and statues that make up Karnak Temple. Best of all, you can sit back and enjoy this sweep through thousands of years of history, as all the planning, transfers and logistics are taken care of.

An exceptional day exploring the Valley of the Kings and various temples/sights in Luxor. Our guide was fantastic and we particularly enjoyed the cruise over the Nile followed by a delicious lunch. A long day but well worth it! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

That was a private tour with TUI staff across all stages making sure all goes smoothly. Many stops in beautiful historical monuments, nice lunch in a beautiful hotel with river Niles in front of you. Stops to an alabaster shop to see how they transform the stone , to a papyrus and perfume shop with someone showing how papyrus is made and how glass bottles are made. Of course they were trying to sell but there are options for all budgets if you wish to but it was also educative .

What a fantastic, albeit very long, day. Pick-up was prompt at 3.30 am but the flight left on time and we were met by our fantastic guide Nubil in Luxor. Seeing the Value of the Kings was amazing, lunch top class and the Luxor Temple just the best. Plane even left early coming back. Brilliant!

Great

Wonderful guides and service from security person although we did not know there was going to be an armed security man with us all day, would have been nice to know in advance. Day was long which we knew but we’re not advised of 2 hour wait at hotel before flight back. We were not advised to take towels for possible swim at hotel at the end of the day either!

Great

Great day out, very knowledgable guide and loved the boat crossing the Nile. Would be good to have a little more time for lunch/sites and less time at the papyrus and alabaster factories

It’s a very long day, which was expected but tiring. The staff were excellent, very friendly and the guide was very knowledgeable. The sights and experience were awesome. There is a hard sell in the alabaster factory, also predictable and didn’t really add to the experience. River boat crossing wasn’t expected but was a highlight and we would recommend. Some guidance on tipping would be helpful and we would have liked a little more time to explore on our own (we did get some time late in the day

Luxor was an interesting place, I enjoyed seeing the city and the tombs. That’s where it ends. It was very hot the day I went, the tour was rushed and we were marched from one area to the other, often only given half and to get in and out. This went on until 3pm constant until we finally stopped for lunch! We were shattered. Lunch was a very quick hour, food was overcooked and dry, I could not eat mine. The waiters rushed us took my starter before I had chance to eat it. Icecream was lovely.

Our Guide was excellent and had so much historical knowledge. I would highly recommend the whole trip. Complete safety from door to door and full of content. The heat was exceptional the day we visited so maybe the papyrus stop was not necessary and I think everyone appreciated the earlier flight

A very enjoyable day for my wife and I. We were picked up from our hotel at the arranged time and given good information about the trip. We were met in Luxor by our guide for the day and the visit to The Valley of the Kings, Karnak etc was great. Not sure we needed to visit the Papyrus shop though

Guide-smiley and our tour to sites were excellent! Hotel for lunch was great and did lots of vegan food which was good for me! Would be 10/10 all round if flight back was at original time as we had to wait at the hotel for 5+hrs and didnt get back to our own hotels until 0130ish the following morning. I do appreciate being put up in the hotel though!

A very full on day. Our guide and driver were fantastic! The only thing that let it down was lunch of tough beef, french fries and vegetables served as a main course. I don't eat beef, so filled up on the bread we had with the dips that were our starter, but we were given no choice. Only one small can of diet coke and a coffee free. And card payment only.

Slight hiccup leading up to our trip as we were struggling to get the company to confirm our pick up time. However, that was finally sorted out and we’re so pleased as the trip itself was amazing. The whole day ran seemlessly! Our guide Tony was fantastic!!! A wonderful day, planned meticulously.

It was only getting off the boat on the Nile that was unsafe, wanting us to walk off the boat to a set of steps across an 8 inch wide plank. The group was older people and certainly unsafe to walk across a plank that was neither secured to the steps or the boat. In the end we had to climb from one boat to another boat and climb off on 2 unsecured 8inch planks . Being supported by 4 of the boat crews , very unsatisfactory and unsafe. Otherwise a very good trip.

Enjoyed - everywhere we went and saw. The knowledge of the guide. Time at each place was good. Could have made it a 2 day excursion to explore more sites. Personally not interested in stopping at and looking at an 'authentic' shop Alabaster stone factory. Time wasted.

Our guide, Osama, was extremely knowledgeable, helpful and friendly. The trip included a few extra touches that I didn't expect. For example, our boat trip across the Nile at lunchtime was included in the trip, as was a soft drink at the hotel (I had expected those to be paid extras having read previous reviews). I wasnt so bothered about the stop at the stone and papyrus shops though. I appreciate that the items were of good quality but there was some pressure to buy.

Great

The sights covered were good, however the tour guide we had was not great. He spent too much time talking, giving unrequired detailed information on every little thing. Every 5mins he would stop everyone to talk. So time was limited for people to walk around and explore the sights themselves. He did not give opportunities for people to take pictures or see all the sights properly. He would carry on walking without checking if all the group members were there, especially people with walking aids.

Great day. Very busy from the start. Lots to see. Not enough toilet breaks and the ones we had had people outside attempting to sell toilet paper to you (take your own). Guide very knowledgeable, but expected a tip at the end of the tour and told us so (that should be our choice).

Yeah luxor trip was very interesting the guide was very good but sometimes it was information overload.. The biggest downside for me was having to walk through the bizarre to get to the site.. the sellers became very aggressive towards you when you didn't purchase anything.. There was no other access to the site but through the bizarre.. It was like running a gauntlet Of angry people

The Egyptologist guide was fantastic and gave us lots of information about all of the historical sites we visited and spoke good English. The logistical organisation was phenomenally good and seamless and our guide made it clear to us that if there was anything not quite right it would be sorted out. A truly superb trip to a lot of ancient sites and to see Luxor and the Nile. Karnak is awe inspiring

A lot of waiting around, not just in the airport. For instance, tour finished almost two hours before collection to return to airport. Pleasant guide but only shared essential information about sites; would have been good to hear more detail/insight/history. Overall, although an amazing destination (which I’m glad to have had the opportunity of visiting), somewhat disappointed by poor planning and delivery of experience.

Booking a Luxor private tour (rather than a group tour) was the best decision we could have made. Our tour guide, Mahmoud, brought the history of Egypt alive for us and was the most knowledgable tour guide we have ever had. He was very friendly and easy going. It was clear that he was the ‘go to’ expert as many of his students recognised him when we were out with him during the day. Because we booked the private tour we were able to fit extra activities into our day, such as a trip on the Nile in a boat and the Luxor temple. We are really grateful to Mahmoud for making this such a special trip.

It was an amazing trip. Also I was travelling solo so was a little nervous about venturing out on my own. But I should not have worried. From being picked up at the hotel, someone meeting us at the airport and taking us to check in. Meeting the guide at the other end. The whole trip was really well organised, and just perfect.

Great

Brilliant day out! Our day guide in Luxor, Osama, was very interesting, well informed and funny. The day it’s self was amazing we say the valley of the kings, Hapsepshut temple, the colossi of Menmon and Karnak. With dinner in a very nice hotel next to the river. We also had a shopping opportunity in a stone masons workshop which was interesting too! Our transfer to the hotel was fab! However our transfer from Luxor to Sharm was very stressful as our plane got delayed and cancelled many times and we were abandoned by our airport guide (not Osama another man). However overall the day was phenomenal!!
