Immerse yourself in the Japanese tea ceremony, a tradition rooted in Zen Buddhism and celebrated in Kyoto. In the art of preparing matcha (powdered green tea), every mindful gesture carries deep significance.Your host, Rie, a Kyoto native, is a second-degree instructor of the Urasenke School of tea ceremony. In 2015, she founded her own tea ceremony business to share the beauty of this traditional culture. During this experience, you'll savour organic matcha tea from Uji, brewed by Rie, followed by a hands-on tea-making lesson. Complement your tea with a traditional Japanese sweet.The experience features the tea ceremony, tasting, brewing, and kimono-wearing package.

Meet your host at Tea Ceremony Koto, a 1-minute walk from Kinkakuji-michi city bus stop. More details and a Google Maps link will be provided upon booking. Please arrive 20 minutes before the start time of the tea ceremony to dress in a kimono. Note that if you arrive late you won't be able to wear the kimono, and no refund will be provided.
