Loggerhead sea turtles have been residents of Zante's beaches for thousands of years, and with a bit of luck, you'll see them first-hand on this boat trip. Join an expert local guide for an educational day out at sea, passing by nesting sites, swimming in hidden bays and spending time in the village of Keri. Bianca, one of our guides, says, ‘In just one trip, you get to jump into clear waters, cruise along the Keri peninsula and, with luck, see turtles.'Available either in the morning from Zante harbour or the afternoon from Keri harbour, this half-day cruise is a real treat for all the family. You'll pass by the golden beaches of Vassilikos and Marathonisi, a pine-clad islet dubbed ‘Turtle Island'. The reason's simple – one of its beaches is a favourite turtle nesting site. Bianca, who's lived on Zante for more than 20 years, says of the scenery, ‘You can do this tour a thousand times and every day is different.' Be sure to keep a lookout for Loggerheads, and you may even spot a wild dolphin or two.Plus, you'll sail along the Keri peninsula, cruising by its sea-plunging cliffs, caves and lighthouse before dropping anchor for a swim stop at the Bay of Oasis. In the small village of Keri, you have a quick stop to shop for souvenirs, relax in a typical taverna or hit the beach. What's more, a volunteer from local conservation group ARCHELON – the Sea Turtle Protection Society of Greece – will be on board to give you the lowdown on its work. What is the itinerary for this experience?This experience is available as a morning or afternoon turtle cruise, so the itinerary timings change depending on which one you pick.Morning option:- 8:45am – depart from Zakynthos Harbour- 9:30am to 10:00am – swimming stop at Vasilikos (Porto Roma) for 30 minutes- 11:00am to 11:20am – turtle spotting in Laganas Bay- 11:25am to 11:35am – photo stop at Marathonisi (Turtle Island)- 11:45am to 12:30pm – swimming stop at Oasis Bay for 45 minutes- 12:40pm to 12:50pm – photo stop at the Keri Caves- 1:00pm to 1:30pm – stop at Keri fishing village with time for a short village walk----------Afternoon option:- 12:50pm to 1:20pm – arrive at Keri, village walk and boat departure- 1:30pm to 1:40pm – photo stop at the Keri Caves- 2:00pm to 2:45pm – swimming stop at Oasis Bay for 45 minutes- 2:50pm to 3:10pm – turtle spotting- 3:15pm to 3:25pm – photo stop at Marathonisi (Turtle Island)- 4:25pm to 4:55pm – swimming stop at Vasilikos- 5:40pm – arrive back at Zakynthos Port and transfer to your resort Please note, the times and schedule may vary on the day

The tour ran on time we were collected and dropped off as expected and everyone was very respectful and welcoming. We couldnt hear any of the speakers and moved to a few loactions to hear better, they spoke too quietly. The volunteers were particularly quietly spoken We would have expected a drink or some entertainment during the 4hr cruize. We didnt see any turtles and as there wasnt anything else going on it was a very boring experience

Although we had been here for over a week it was the first time we had seen the TUI rep. We asked her about trips and she told us we would live this trip. We feel we were sold it under false pretense as she told us we would love it. She said it would take 45 minutes for transfer to the boat but it took 2 hours!!! She ignored when I asked if it was busy, 3 full coaches x 1 boat!! she told us there would be a little stop so bring euros for coffee etc!!! No a village in site! Boring trip!

Geen schildpad gezien. Bewolkt. Windkracht 4. Hier is niets aan te doen. Geluid door speakers is slecht. Dit is ook het geval met de excursie naar het scheepswrak. Dezelfde boot.

We had expected a commentary about the turtles, detailing all about them, their habitat etc. So far as we were aware, there wasn't one during the trip At the end we realised that the 'guide' had been sitting on the middle deck talking but no sound was coming out of any speakers anywhere on the boat. If indeed there were speakers. We did report this to the tui rep at our hotel

Reisleiding tui onplezierige stem, slecht te verstaan. Boottocht na 2 uur wel gezien, maar toen moesten we nog 2 uur. Tour veel te massaal. Een paar schilpadden gezien, maar te veel bootjes die hier op af kwamen. Na de tocht moeten wachten op de bus die later kwam, toen hoorden we de de tui reisleiding ook niet.

Think biggest problem was regarding transport to and from the cruise. From the viewpoint that we as holiday makers haven’t done the trip before, we weren’t sure initially if we were getting on the correct bus to get there. Driver sat in his seat and we had to get on to ask if we were on the correct bus. Also we were advised the pick up was 1pm, actually picked up at 1.30. On a hot day with no explanation I would have gone and bought a drink

We were a party if 6. Youngest being 5 & 7. There was plenty to keep the kids happy from colouring pictures, exploring the 3 different deck levels, plenty of choice of food a d drink to actually seeing 4 turtles and having the opportunity to swim in the sea.

We we're picked up close to our hotel,short journey on air con coach to the port of keri .... then there was a photo opportunity as you are getting in the boat 25€ for a picture fridge magnet and 2 key rings .... plenty of snacks on board and plenty of room... you go out around the keri penisula for a swim stop for half hour ...then make your way back to laganas/ kalamaki beach for turtle spotting then head off to zante town on the way stopping for another swim (its cold in june) docked at 5:30

De gids was slecht verstaanbaar en er was veel wachttijd vóór vertrek. In de beschrijving stond dat we naar Marathonisi en de Keri Peninsula zouden gaan, maar we bleven vooral voor de kust liggen en konden kort zwemmen in open zee. Dit voelde niet goed georganiseerd en niet kindvriendelijk. Er waren geen zwemvesten aanwezig of aangeboden, wat met kinderen van 4 en 10 jaar onveilig voelde. Ook was de excursie minder afwisselend dan verwacht.

Although it wasn't guaranteed we would see any turtles we didn't see one, we saw 4 & got plenty of photos. The two swimming sessions were great fun although I should have remembered I'm 63 and having a diving competition with 10 year olds was not the best idea. It was difficult to hear the guides but transport both there and back was comfortable. We went on the afternoon trip and the only downside was having to walk 800m up cardiac hill to get back to our accommodation

Unfortunately, my partner could no go on the trip. As we informed the hotel rep, that my husband cannot do steps due to a medical condition, which she said that would be ok, we will arrange suitable transportation and the boat has a ramp, however the vehicle that arrived turned out to be a coach, which my husband could not get on and the driver and TUI rep were quite rude and not helpful and no alternative found unless we paid extra for a taxi at our own expense.

Swim spots added in as part of the tour are always good. Boat was very full, with most people settling on second and third floors. Popped down for some shade on first floor and was virtually empty. Turtles are wild animals but still minimal visual sighting. Might be worth renaming the tour, so that it doesn’t start with the word Turtle, so that it’s then not the focal point

Im Prinzip ist es wie "WaleWatching", entweder man hat Glück und sieht welche oder Pech. Wir hatten Glück und konnten eine Schildkröte sehen. Die Tour war sehr schön, man hat einen sehr schönen Eindruck von der Wasserseite bekommen. Uns hat es sehr gut gefallen 🩷.

Overall a good experience, I would say the price is fare, and there was nothing to really complain about no, no dislikes. I great full the boat wasn't packed, I did notice a sign which display the maximum amount of people allowed on the boat 145 I believe.

It was more than 2 hours between being picked up and the boat leaving. We hurried into the boat without lunch as we were told it left at 1pm. It actually left at 1.30. We could not hear/understand the guide on the boat at all. Not informed in advance about the cruise. We heard about the morning cruise which was different from the afternoon one we went on. Easy to get on and off the boat and a comfortable seat.

De link met Archelon vonden we erg goed. Waardeerden ook hun presentatie. Ook erg leuk dat we met iedereen op de boot betrokken waren met de zoektocht naar de schildpadden. Eerste zwemtocht om 09:30 kwam eigenlijk wat te vroeg (voor deze tijd vh jaar), de 2e was top!

We loved the actual experience, however the transport was not the best. We got picked up late from our hotel and then when leaving we had to wait ages at the port on the coach, no one communicated with us why we were waiting, people were getting agitated as we were just left sitting on the coach for about 20-30 minutes. No one apologised the drivers just stood around chatting outside.

Reisleidster zit op een bankje haar riedeltje voor te lezen. Geen interactie met de mensen op de boot. Daarnaast is bezoek aan schiereiland niet geweest. Wegens tijd gebrek maar je hebt als reisleidster de touwtjes in handen. Jet is gewoon op een simpele manier geld verdienen zonder toegevoegde waarde vanuit TUI. Enige positieve waren de locale die wel hun best deden.

For det første var guiderne polske, og langt det meste foregik på polsk, og da 2. guide forsøgte sig på engelsk, var det max halvdelen vi forstod. Derudover var det ikke rart at se, at de fredede havsklidpadder nærmest blev jagtet af skibet, når en var spottet. Frem og tilbage, og så rundt om igen, og hver gang der blev slået frem eller bak, hvirvlede hele bunden op, så der i store områder af vandet, var helt brunt og meget usigtbart. Synd for skildpadderne !

Really enjoyed, staff tui and boat were excellent.. I just wish I could of heard the guide on the boat, I wanted to learn about the islands and history, my husband and I sat on top deck and we couldn't hear the guided information at all. Also think it would help to advise people to keep shoes on walking on top deck, I took some rubbish over to the bin with no shoes on and the floor was very very hot, it really burnt the bottom of feet.

We had to get the transport so early we couldn't have breakfast. Took ten minutes to get to the port. We then sat on the boat for an hour and a half! We were not able to hear the updates on the delay and later the commentary where we were sat upstairs. We made the rep aware of this. However we were only half an hour late getting back. So either trip was cut short or the long wait on the boat is usual practice. Neither is acceptable.

Sehr geehrte Damen und Herren, die Abholung hat dieses Mal super geklappt, allerdings sind wir fast 1 Stunde im Hafen auf dem Boot gesessen und durften nicht auslaufen (wegen der Hafenpolizei). Zur Entschädigung gab es Essen und Getränke frei, allerdings haben wir es nicht verstanden, da nur Englisch und Holländischen gesprochen wurde. We hebben een schildpad gezien en dat is natuurlijk het allerleukste! Voldoende zitplek, leuke begeleiding. We moesten lang wachten voor controle havenpolitie, ter compensatie mocht iedereen Een drankje halen. Vonden wij erg netjes. Tui zelf kon daar niks aan doen. Dus prima opgelost.

We understand that seeing turtles was not guaranteed. However, we were told that there would be someone on the boat from turtle conservation, who would give us information. This did NOT happen. On disembarkingthe boat we followed a guide to a designated bus. The guide then left. Thedriver told someone that the bus was the wrong one. With NO tui guide or representative we had to swap onto a different bus. The driver missed our stop and had to turn around and return after all the other stops

Amazing views of the cost, great information provided throughout! Seeing turtles aren’t guaranteed, we think we saw one but it was still a wonderful day regardless!

I beskrivelsen lyder det som om at man kommer til at stoppe, for at hoppe af på en eller to øer, det gør man ikke, hvilket var lidt skuffende. Især når de siger at hvis vi ser en lille skildpadde, så skal vi tage fat i nogen af tui medarbejderne. Hvor skulle vi se babyskilpadder på vej ud til vandet, hvis ikke på et stop ved en ø??

Rien en français... Je peux comprendre que les guides ne parlent pas en français mais avoir une fiche en français serait intéressant...et nous comprendrions un peu mieux les sites visités.

Tui rep was not overly friendly but was more with what we felt her own nationality group. Felt like she wasn't there at all. I approached a different rep and she was helpful and cheery. There was alot rude people on this cruise. The snack bar people were lovely, snacks available was really good and good prices. Although they tried, we did not see any turtles. We were also not given alot of time on Keri island. A quick toilet stop and a rush to return coach bus. Disappointing.

We hebben genoten van de boottocht. Schildpadden hebben we uiteraard niet gezien. Dat is begrijpelijk gezien ze al in september (soms in augustus) vertrekken naar warmere oorden. Het zou fijn zijn om dit expliciet vantevoren te vertellen.

Der Trip war gut organisiert, pünktliche Abholung, guter Chauffeur mit angepasstem Fahrstil. Die eigentliche Tour mit dem grossen Boot war sehr gut, einddrucksvoll, abwechslungsreich und entsprach meinen Erwartungen und auch den Ankündigungen im Angebot. Ganz gar nicht gefallen hat mir die Begegnung mit den Turtles: Innert 2-3 Minuten waren knapp 10 Boote auf engstem Raum um die zwei () Turtles, Massentourismus pur, no go und sicher nicht angenehm für die Turtles, die ich selbst nicht sah!
