Each one of the Dodecanese Islands offers a distinctly different experience – and Symi is one of the most culturally rich of them all. You'll discover its laidback charm and visit sites such as Panormitis Monastery and a sponge maker. Fotini, one of our local guides, says, ‘Symi is one of the smallest and most picturesque Greek islands. The sight of the colourful houses as soon as you enter the harbour never fails to impress.'The fun starts with a glide across the Aegean to Symi. The first stop is in the southwest of the island, at the vast, Venetian-style Panormitis Monastery. It is famed for its Byzantine frescoes and icon of St Michael, but most of all for its location right on the water's edge in a remote and sheltered bay. You'll also have free time to explore the site.Next, you'll sail for Symi town itself. The arrival into the harbour is a joy to behold – tiers of pastel-coloured houses cascade down the surrounding hillsides. There's a guided tour of Symi town, too. And during the sponge maker visit, you'll learn about the island's sponge-diving heritage and its importance to the eco system surrounding the Symi. Your visit also helps support this traditional industry, vital to the local community. You'll get a small gift to take home, too. It's Fotini's favourite part of the experience. She says, ‘The old tradition of sponge diving has strongly affected the history and the customs of the Dodecanese Islands.' What is the itinerary for this experience? The itinerary for this experience is...- 7:30am to 8:30am – pick-up from your hotel- 8:55am – departure from Mandraki Harbor- 10:25am to 11:30am – arrive in Panormitis for a monastery visit and free time- 11:30am – leave Panormitis- 12:00pm – photo stop in St. George Bay- 12:25pm to 4:00pm – arrive in Symi for a guided tour, visit to a sponge workshop, lunch (not included) and free time- 4:00pm – leave Symi- 5:35pm to 5:45pm – arrive back at Mandraki Harbor Please note, the times and schedule may vary on the day and depending on boat operations, sometimes you may visit Panormitis before Symi.

Najglosniejszy statek jakim w zyciu plynalem. Bardzo dluga podróz - 5h plywania, podczas 10h wycieczki. Samo Simi jakosciowo to nie Wenecja/Wielki Kanion by poswiecac na to tyle czasu i pieniedzy, wiec stosunek jakosci do ceny uwazam, za 2/10. Wycieczka na pewno nieprzeznaczona dla malych dzieci - wbrew zapewnieniom rezydentki TUI.

Visite trop rapide du monastère st Michel nous ne sommes restés que 40mn sur l île top chrono alors que 1h était prévue . Trop court pour faire la queue 15mn déjà pour rentrer dans monastère , visiter etc..

Très jolie île ??, mais beaucoup trop de temps dans les transports 1h15 de car pour aller au ferry environ 2h30 pour aller à symi on est resté 3h/3h30 après 1h de ferry pour le monastère pour rester 45 min puis re 2h de ferry pour rentrer à Rhodes et reprendre le car 1h15 pour rejoindre l’hôtel ?????

We had a great day on this excursion. It's an early start with a lot of time on the ferry but its a great way to see so much of the Symi and the surrounding coast. Our guide was very informative and didn't keep us for too long. We had plenty of independent exploration. The monestary was slightly underwhelming but it was the first stop after 1hr 20 on the ferry so was good to stretch the legs. There are toilets, a bar, and undercover seating on the ferry that we had, the Nicolaos X.

+ Die Insel Symi an sich ist sehr schön! - Versprochen würde eine 90minütige Überfahrt nach Symi Es waren jeweils um die 2 Stunden. Für den Besuch des Kloster blieben gerade einmal 8 Minuten, da zum einen die Erklärungen vor dem Kloster knapp 15 Min. in Anspruch nahm, zum anderen, weil die Menschenmassen viel zu groß waren und zu guter letzt, das Schiff gleich wieder zum Auslaufen signalisierte. Eine Frechheit, dafür das dass Kloster so groß angekündigt wird u. im Vergleich 20 € mehr kostet.

Une excursion guidée au départ de Rhodes pour se rendre sur l'île de Symi avec un embarcadère nous offrant un souvenir inoubliable. Visite du monastère aux fresques bizantines????, découverte de l'île aux multiples échoppes et maisons colorées et alignées avec des explications enrichissantes de notre guide fort sympathique en conseillant un resto local. un régal. Wir hätten lieber mehr Zeit in Simri gehabt und auf die Klosterbesichtigung verzichtet. Das Kloster ist für die Masse an Menschen einfach zu klein. Unsere Führerin Maria ging gar nicht. Gefühlt war jeder 2. Satz"Das erzähle ich Ihnen später." Wir waren alle genervt. Beim Schwammladen waren wir zu lange und sind dann von der Führung weggegangen, was vor uns bereits mehrere gemacht hatten. Die Insel lohnt sich, aber ohne Führung evt wesentlich schöner.

1. Badesachen sollten mitgebracht werden, aber Zeit und Örtlichkeiten zum baden gab es nicht! 2. Angemessene Kleidung für den Besuch des Klosters sollte mitgebracht werden, aber dort ist jeder ins Kloster reingekommen! 3. Während der Fährfahrt wurden keinerlei Informationen gegeben, obwohl die technischen Möglichkeiten bestanden! 4. Rundgang durch das Kloster und durch die Stadt sehr informativ!

Overall a good day. It would have been nice to have had a bit more time at the monestry and less in Symi town, as after visiting the sponge shop, we walked around twice had a drink and ice cream and still had 1 and 1/2 hrs left before the boat sailed. A lot of others were also waiting by the boat early. Or cut the actual trip by an hr.

2 Std Überfahrt (insgesamt 4Std) finden ich zu lang und langweilig, dazu kommt noch 1Std bis zum Kloster Panormitis, 3 Std in der Stadt und 1Std Kloster inkl. Freizeit sind in Ordnung.

Symi was beautiful place but only had hour and half free time. 10 mins in monastery. 7 hours was travelling Nightmare from pickup late driver. Driving 40 minutes then realising he had forgot a group all way back! Raced and drove erratic. Hour ferry was 2 hours going 3 back! Guide stood giving info far to long. Fed cats along the way! Not enjoyed what would have been beautiful experience Not worth the money also no seats on ferry stood for 2 hours one way!

Excellent day trip, 7am pick up & 7pm return, 12 hour day is fine but was advertised as 8 hours, presumably from Rhodes town. Coach was timely & fine but no information, ferry was fantastic, guide was great although earpiece was faulty. Symi was scenic, monastery was marvellous & weather was wonderful except a few showers. Highly recommended.

Die Organisation war reibungslos. Leider, wie so oft bei diesen hotspots sehr touristisch. Sowohl auf dem Schiff, im Ort selbst als auch im Kloster grenzwertige Menschenansammlungen. Das Verhältnis Bus- Schifffahrt zu Landgang ist suboptimal. 1 Std Bus, 5 Std Schiff, 3 Std an Land, da bleibt wenig Zeit für persönliche Erkundungen. Aber der Ort selbst bietet eine einzigartige und sehenswerte Kulisse. Die Reiseleiterin hat einen guten Job gemacht. Interessante und kurzweilige Erzählungen.

Niestety przewodniczka opowiadala bardzo szybko, krótko i malo. Niewiele ciekawostek. Zadnych informacji nie dostalismy co i jak zobaczyc na wyspie. Zero wskazówek dla rodzin z wózkiem. Najwiecej niestety bylo mowy o lokalnej restauracji i jaka kupic gabke. Szkoda, ze tyle pieniedzy trzeba zaplacic za sluchanie reklam. taka wycieczke samemu mozna sobie zorganizowac

Symi war sehr schön. Hat uns gut gefallen. Aber das Schiff für die Überfahrt und der Bus der uns abgeholt hat ging garnicht. Das sind wir von tui eigentlich anders gewohnt. Der Bus war sehr alt und mit Löcher in den Sitzen. Und auf dem Boot war es überall sehr laut vom Motor. Man konnte sich ja nicht mal vernünftig unterhalten. Es hat auch schlimm nach Abgasen gestunken. Wie schon erwähnt Symi war schön aber der Transfer und die Überfahrt war eine Katastrophe. Schade eigentlich.

De reistijden zijn erg lang. Totaal een kleine 5 uurtjes op de boot gezeten. Dat is langer dan de daadwerkelijke tijd op het eiland zelf. Het eiland zelf is erg leuk om te zien.

Symi was nice when we got there, pick up to the boat took 90 minutes as driver forgot one pick up and had to return for them. We were told an hour on the boat but it was two which was far too long. Drop off to hotel was an hour as no one forgotten. If all goes well you are looking at 6 hours of travel which is too much.

Loved Symi island, so pretty and well worth a visit. An extra hour long ferry ride for 30 minutes at the monastery seemed a little crazy but again, it was beautiful so glad we got to see it. Guide was good when we first arrived in the capital, with some interesting facts about the sponges and the diving; we left the group after the initial talk and found our own place to eat which by the sounds of it was the better thing to do.

A good trip but; Guide comms system didn't work well. The mic wasn't great and some broken or low volume comms. General knowledge and info about Symi provided by the guide was good, not withstanding the comms issue mentioned previously. The inevitable Kick back shops. Guide didn't know much about restaurants up the hillside as an alternative to the suggested one. Pick point up at Rhodes on way home was different from drop off point and not briefed well, nearly missed the bus back to hotel.

Het eiland Symi verdient meer dan die 7/10, want het is zeer pittoresk. Het gids gedeelte viel wat tegen: het contact met de oortjes was niet optimaal, de Engelse uitspraak van de snel pratende gidse hielp ook al niet en er waren voortdurend auto's, scooters, vrachtwagens waarvoor we opzij moesten gaan. Zo ging voor mij heel wat van haar uitleg verloren. Het werd toch een geslaagde dag door de schoonheid van het klooster en het eiland.

Satisfaite des excursions en général. Sauf que j etais en pension complète et que les journées d'excursions aucun paniier repas prévu par l hôtel et donc obligé de repayer les déjeuners du midi pour 3 repas. Ce qui n est pas normal et qui finit par revenir cher. Excursions Lindos et vieille ville de Rhodes. Symi et decouverte de l ouest de Rhodes. Die Fahrt mit dem Schiff fand ich nicht sehr schön. Das Schiff ist veraltet, es stank nach Abgasen und war sehr laut. Vorallem für die Menschen mit Beeinträchtigung, die unten sitzen mussten. Sie waren extremen Lärm ausgesetzt. Oben gab es nur unbequeme Plastiksitze, was bei einer 2stündigen Fahrt sehr unbequem ist. Die Toiletten waren eine Zumutung u. nicht zeitgemäß. Die Zeit auf der Insel Symi war zu kurz im Verhältnis zur Schiffsfahrt. Ein komfortableres Schiff wäre angebracht.

Die Überfahrt mit der Fähre ist viel zulang. 2Stunden pro Strecke und nochmal 1Stunde bis zum Kloster. Wir hatten starken Wind, sodass man sich im Inneren des Schiffes aufhalten musste. Dort war es sehr laut und die Luft war stickig. Auch oben auf dem Deck war es laut mit Diesel Geruch. Es heißt Tagestour durch Symi, es waren 3Stunden Symi und knapp 40 Minuten Kloster. Symi und das Kloster haben mir sehr gut gefallen. Der Guide Nikolaos hat alles sehr gut erklärt.

All went well. Guide (Katarina) was excellent. Great English and lovely lady. Coach driver very friendly and helpful, boat and staff good. Only downside was the quality of the toilets on the boat. (yuk!).
