Each one of the Dodecanese Islands offers a distinctly different experience – and Symi is one of the most culturally rich of them all. You'll discover its laidback charm and visit sites such as Panormitis Monastery and a sponge maker. Fotini, one of our local guides, says, ‘Symi is one of the smallest and most picturesque Greek islands. The sight of the colourful houses as soon as you enter the harbour never fails to impress.'The fun starts with a glide across the Aegean to Symi. The first stop is in the southwest of the island, at the vast, Venetian-style Panormitis Monastery. It is famed for its Byzantine frescoes and icon of St Michael, but most of all for its location right on the water's edge in a remote and sheltered bay. You'll also have free time to explore the site.Next, you'll sail for Symi town itself. The arrival into the harbour is a joy to behold – tiers of pastel-coloured houses cascade down the surrounding hillsides. There's a guided tour of Symi town, too. And during the sponge maker visit, you'll learn about the island's sponge-diving heritage and its importance to the eco system surrounding the Symi. Your visit also helps support this traditional industry, vital to the local community. You'll get a small gift to take home, too. It's Fotini's favourite part of the experience. She says, ‘The old tradition of sponge diving has strongly affected the history and the customs of the Dodecanese Islands.' What is the itinerary for this experience? The itinerary for this experience is...- 7:30AM to 8:30am – pick-up from your hotel- 8:55AM – departure from Mandraki Harbor- 10:25AM to 11:30am – arrive in Panormitis for a monastery visit and free time- 11:30AM – leave Panormitis- 12:25PM to 4:00PM – arrive in Symi for a guided tour, visit to a sponge workshop, lunch (not included) and free time- 4:00PM – leave Symi- 5:35PM to 5:45PM – arrive back at Mandraki Harbor Please note, the times and schedule may vary on the day and depending on boat operations, sometimes you may visit Panormitis before Symi.

Katarina our guide was brilliant- very friendly open and knowledgeable. Would have liked more time in the island to enjoy as 1.5 hours is not enough. The boat trip was very slow ( considering the distance between island is less than the Uk and France and you can get there in 25 minutes) most of the day was spent travelling rather than fully enjoying. Saying that it was an interesting and insightful day.

Die Führung hat mir wirklich sehr gut gefallen! 😊 Symi ist einfach wunderschön und definitiv ein Ort, den man einmal gesehen haben muss. Die Insel hat einen ganz besonderen Charme und die Tour war eine tolle Möglichkeit, sie kennenzulernen. Ein besonderes Dankeschön an Maria – sie war unglaublich sympathisch, herzlich und hat alles sehr interessant und verständlich erzählt. Man hat ihr gerne zugehört und durch ihre Art hat die Führung noch mehr Spaß gemacht.

First off, the tour that was sold to us included a stop for a swim. However this was not the case on the day. The boat that used as a ferry was over booked and totally unacceptable in terms of people onboard and seating arrangements. It felt like a competition in order to get a seat in the first place. Upper decks had folding deck chairs which I would have thought would not comply with health and safety standards- certainly there was no life jackets under those seats as per the safety info

De gids deed het super, alleen je bent erg lang onderweg van de hele excursie dag. 5 uur varen in totaal, het was ons iets te lang op de boot. Verder prima gids die goed kon vertellen en mooi eiland!

Our guide was very friendly and knowledgable, the history of the places we visited was amazing. There was nothing about the trip we didn't like at all. The islands we visited were so beautiful and the sponge shop we went to was perfect. What an admirable man that runs that, taking over his dad's business to keep his dad's legacy going.

It's not a full day after getting there we had a tour herb shop and then a sponge shop and then we was left with about 1 HR before getting onto the boat we didn't have chance to see any of the streets above or over the other side of the harbour. We actually cancelled our food as the boat was boarding at 13.30 for strict departure at 14.00hrs. so we had no chance to sit and eat. We docked on the other side for the monastery at 15.10 and the board was already up saying boarding back from 15.30.

Symi ist eine wunderschöne Insel. Leider hatten wir zu wenig Freizeit. Für den Kloster Besuch hatten wir gerade mal 25 Minuten, definitiv zu wenig. Der guide hat alles sehr gut erzählt.

De gids Corinne deed het echt uitstekend, veel goede, duidelijke info op een prettige manier verteld. Complimenten voor haar. Vonden de boottocht erg lang duren, dat was het mindere aan deze excursie, maar ja dat zal niet anders kunnen.

Rejs fantastycznu - obsługa statku wspaniała. Klasztor i zatoka z kolorowymi domkami - urokliwe miejsce. Pani przewodnik zdecydowanie najsłabszy element wyjazdu. Musi jeszcze dużo się nauczyć albo zmienić zawód.

Die Überfahrt mit der Fähre dauert ca. 2std Die Toiletten dort sind nicht sehr sauber. Angekommen in Symi ist ein Traum und absolut empfehlenswert. Durch die Reiseleitung bekommt man ein Restaurant empfohlen das wirklich klasse ist. Aus den knapp 2 Stunden die einem zur freien Verfügung stehen könnte man einen ganzen Tag machen. Absolut sehenswert.

There were both adults and children on our trip. The children did find the guided tour interesting, however they didn't enjoy the 'sponge' talk (found it boring). The guide was very good, however you do not get enough time to look around by yourselves. The monastery was beautiful, although the shop was extremely busy, again no time to look around.

Eine wunderschöne kleine Insel mit angenehmer Atmosphäre. Der Reiseführer war sehr freundlich und kannte sich bestens auf der Insel aus. Das Meer war sauber und klar, und die kleinen Garnelen waren köstlich. Ich empfehle, im Restaurant zu essen.

Vlotte Nederlandstalige gids. Lange boottocht. Symi is een mooi eilandje, heel toeristisch. Begeleid naar sponsen en kruidenverkoper. Nadien vrije tijd om te eten of rond te kuieren. De extra boottocht naar kerkje was niet echt een meerwaarde tov de tijd dat je extra moest varen, was uit de boot stappen en snel de kerk binnengaan. De gordels in de heenreis werkte niet in de bus.

Overall good. The guide’s communication was excellent and any questions were answered. Symi was beautiful destination. However as it was overcrowded we had to walk along a harbour wall close to the edges with the guide which at times felt a little unsafe. The sponge talk was interesting. However we felt it a bit sales ordinated. We did buy some sponges but they were much more expensive than we thought. The monastery visit after was too short and too many visitors at one time.

Op de beschrijving van de uitstap stond een boottocht van 1,5 uur maar de heenreis was 2u en de terugreis2,5 u dat is echt wel heel lang mss. wat duidelijker omschrijven! Het klooster van Panoramitis was eigenlijk minder dan we gedacht hadden en er was weinig tijd om wat de kuieren en te winkelen, het eten in een typisch Grieks restaurantje wasteland leuk en superlekker, ook vlotte bediening !

War für uns einen perfekten Tag. Alles hat reibungslos funktioniert. Uns hat der Charm der Insel sehr gefallen. Die zwei stunden Hinfahrt und zwei Stunden Rückfahrt mit der Fähre nimmt man gerne im Kauf für so eine schöne Erlebnis.

This was a good tour but a little rushed. More time in Simi, to relax after the sponge tour would be good because this took up a great deal of time. Time to eat & take in Simi would be good. There was a rush about it. More time at the monastery - there was no time to do anything other than get in & get out. We would like to have walked around, relaxed and been able to sit and enjoy our bakery goods.

Symi worth staying for the entire excursion. The rep was excellent proving a wealth of interesting knowledge about Symi. The monastery visit wasn't worth the time unfortunately I would describe this element of the trip as boring the only thing worth seeing was a couple of wild goats climbing over some cars

Alles was goed geregeld. De TUI hostess die de trip ´verkocht, kon goed uitleggen over het hoe en wat. De TUI gids was duidelijk en vriendelijk. Persoonlijk mag de rondleiding in Symi korter (half uur ipv 45 minuten), zodat er meer vrije tijd is om zelf op ontdekking te gaan. Want de lunch neemt ook nogal tijd in beslag. Desalniettemin was het een fantastische dag en een prachtige omgeving. Wat het helemaal afmaakte was het zien van dolfijnen en schildpadden op de terugtocht!

De Nederlandstalige gids was uitstekend: deskundig, vriendelijk en aangenaam. De stop aan het klooster vonden we minder relevant. Minder positief waren de transportmiddelen: zowel bus als boot reden op vervuilende diesel. Op de boot waren de uitlaatgassen zo sterk dat we na de excursie last hadden van onze longen. Dat deze excursie van TUI het label 'green and fair experiences' krijgt, is dan ook moeilijk te begrijpen. Elektrificatie zou prioriteit moeten krijgen in een wereld die in brand staat

Przekazano nam ze popłyniemy promem 1,5 godziny a płynęliśmy 1,45 do klasztoru a potem jeszcze kolejna godzinę na Symi. Powrót trwał 1g i 50 minut. Okazało sie ze w sumie płynęliśmy ponad 4 godziny. Jakbym to wiedziała nie wybrałabym tej wycieczki. Nie czułam sie tam zaopiekowana bo nawet nas nie liczono czy jesteśmy wszyscy, jakby kogoś brakowało to trudno nie patrzyli na to tylko jechali dalej.

Ce que j'ai le plus aimé : les buffets du petit déjeuner, déjeuner et dîner, ainsi que le bar à côté de la piscine avec boissons incluses dans le All Inclusive, la piscine, les activités de l'hôtel. Le moins aimé : l'éloignement de l'hôtel par rapport à la ville de Rhodes, la salle de bain vieillotte avec l'eau qui coule sur le carrelage depuis la baignoire malgré le pare douche, le ménage qui pourrait être mieux fait (j'ai dû réclamer des shampoings et gels douche supplémentaires).

Witam Jeżeli miał bym zasugerować jakąś zmianę to poprawił bym zasięg sprzętu przez który komunikowała się z nami pani przewodnik, już po kilku metrach w terenie otwartym rwało połączenie. Mam doświadczenie z takim rodzajem komunikacji na innych wycieczkach, tam zasięg był dużo większy... Rozpoczynając podróży wybrałem odpowiadające nam miejsca na statku, niestety po pierwszym przystanku zaskoczyło mnie to, że są one zajęte. Wolał bym żeby były pasażerowie pozostawali na wybranych miejscach

I thought the rep was helpful but she did make it sound like the food was going to be expensive at other places and recommended a restaurant where we did eat and so did lots of other people but when we looked around prices was similar elsewhere so left me feeling is the rep on commission etc so I think you should be ensuring information is correctly provided

1) Der Transfer mit dem Schiff war viel zu lange und stand un keinem Verhältnis zur kurzen Aufenthaltszeit auf Simy znd dm Kloster 2) Das Schiff war uralt, sehr laut und Abgasgeruch war dominant auf dem mittleren Deck. 3) Der Kiosk auf dem Schiff bot nur ernährungstechnischen Ramsch an 4) Reiseführer war gut, Vortrag aber zeitlich eher knapp

I absolutely loved this Symi trip. The crossing was smooth with fantastic views and a show of dolphins on the return trip. I enjoyed the guided tour including the sponge talk. I would have liked some more time at the monastery as this felt rushed and I didn't have time to browse in the shop. We did have an unexpected show of turtles though. Overall brilliant, my favourite excursion of our holiday.

Je recommande volontier cette excursion. Nous avons eu la chance de voir des dauphins lors de la traversée de l’aller. Le village de Symi est splendide. ( il y a par contre beaucoup de monde) notre guide Maria était d’une gentillesse et d’une compétence à souligner. Notre agent Antonios à l’hôtel nous a formidablement bien conseillé en prenant tout le temps nécessaire pour nous expliquer précisément les différentes excursions. Un Grand merci particulier à lui

Mehr Transfer als Ausflug (inkl. einer Stunde Wartezeit, weil der erste Bus defekt war). Nur drei Stunden Aufenthalt in Symi, davon eine Stunde Führung, eine Stunde Mittagessen. Kloster nicht wirklich eindrücklich oder sehenswert. Meine Empfehlung: Kloster weglassen, dafür mehr Zeit in Symi. Ich würde den Ausflug definitiv nicht weiterempfehlen.

Kristina (Guide) war wieder Top. Vielleicht wäre es besser den Ausflug mit einem Stranderlebnis auf Simi mit Simi oder dem Kloster und Strand zu kombinieren. Es war sehr heiss und eine Abkühlung wäre sicher für alle angenehm gewesen.

Haal het bezoek aan het klooster er uit. Nu is het bezoek aan Symi een dure lunch op een andere lokatie geworden. Reistijd in totaal= 5 uur Bezoektijd Dorp= incl uitleg = 3 uur, excl uitleg 2,5 uur. Dus er is geen tijd meer om het dorp echt goed te bezoeken. Bezoektijd aan het klooster was max 50 min na 1 uur varen. Het is alleen een kapel. Dat was het bezoek NIET waard. Daarna reistijd naar Rhodos bijna 3 uur. Teveel boottijd, te weing Symi.

Met kids v 10 en 11, was bezoek klooster te lang boot zitten Ter plaatse op Symi, eerder té kort. Amper 1,45 vrij. In tegenstelling tot uitleg Simon : 3,00. Zwemmen op de pier NIET toegelaten. Kids sleurden tevergeefs zwemkleding plus handdoek mee. Gelieve duidelijker mee te geven voor volgende reizigers AUB

Die lange Anreise hatten wir unterschätzt. Von TUI Magic Life aus sind es vier Stunden Anreise. Zwei Stunden Bus und zwei Stunden Fähre. Ansonsten ist der Ort in das Kloster sehr schön und sehenswert.

Die Bootsfahrt nach Symi war sehr nett, man konnte auf dem Boot auch draußen sitzen, was sehr angenehm war, allerdings sollte man auf jeden Fall genug Sonnenschutz mithaben. Die Insel war sehr schön, es gab beim Ausflug genug Zeit, um sich umzuschauen, zu Essen und den kleinen Rundgang mitzumachen. Beim Panormitiskloster ist die Zeit ein wenig knapp gewesen, dafür war die Bootsfahrt um die Insel zum Kloster sehr schön.

Magnifique séjour beaucoup de choix en terme de nourriture des animateurs et animatrices très motivé compétent je recommande vivement et renouvellerais avec Mamara....nous avons passé 2 semaines reposantes dynamique par moment ont a le choix c'est vraiment le top 👌😍🙏🩷🩷🩷

Der Guide war ziemlich auf Verkauf aus, trotzdem hat er viel wissenswertes Vermittelt. Der Transfer ist am Abend etwas schief gelaufen, der Busfahrer hat unser hotel übersehen und hat erst auf lautes rufen reagiert.

Aufenthalt in Symi viel zu kurz, Aufenthalt beim Kloster waren genau mal 30 Minuten von Ankunft bis zu Abfahrt Anreise mit Schiff dauert sehr viel länger als die Aufenthalte. Guide hat gut erklärt.
