The past comes to life in Syracuse – a city packed with classical heritage as well as flamboyant Sicilian Baroque architecture. You'll visit the Greek theatre, go into the Ear of Dionysius and explore Ortygia island, the heart of the old town and location of Baroque gems such as the cathedral. Dino, one of our expert local guides, says "the whole point of this tour is to give you the best snapshot look at Syracuse's history and culture in one day. By the end of it, you'll know the city and its heritage inside and out."With more than 2,700 years of history behind it, Syracuse is one of Sicily's most fascinating cities. Your journey through time kicks off at the Archaeological Park in the west of the city. Discover the Greek Theatre, which held 15,000 spectators in its heyday, and still awes despite the ravages of time. There's also the Altar of Hiero – a massive sacrificial slab – the Ear of Dionysius as well as the Roman amphitheatre.You'll then cross the bridge to Ortygia island. Its labyrinthine streets are packed with churches, palaces and castles. A guided tour will take in all the top attractions, including the cathedral. You'll then have a couple of hours of free time to explore at your own pace.

Deze dagtrip was veel te kort. De uitleg in de bus was onvolledig. De uitleg op de archeologische site was goed. De vrije tijd in het oude stadsgedeelte van Syracuse: Ortigia, was véél te kort, de gids leek haast te hebben huiswaarts te keren om 15u. Dit kan echt wel met twee uur verlengd worden.

Alex our guide was brilliant, he made sure that I was ok after each part of our experience, which when you have chronic fatigue syndrome, is very important to myself and my wife. There wasn't anything that we could find fault with, we enjoyed having time for ourselves to go off & explore plus good quality time with Alex our guide. Alex engaged excellently with all in a friendly & welcoming manner.

Fabian ist an seinem 1.!!! Freien Tag seit 18.8. für seine Kollegin als Reiseleiter eingesprungen. Sie hatte von " Verzögerung " gesprochen und am Busbahnhof Recanati ohne weitere Erklärung oder auch Verabschiedung an Fabio übergeben. Dieser zeichnete sich durch sehr hohe fachliche Kompetenz, Organisatiobstalent, Leidenschaft für Geschichte und sein Land und Bemühen um sämtliche Gäste aus. In 4 Sprachen versorgte er teilweise gleichzeitig seine Gäste. Der Fahrer Roberto war ebenso top!!

The whole experience was a pleasure to partake in. The guides were well informed and had good methods of communication. We were in awe of Fabio our guide and his ability to flit between Italian, English and German whilst maintaining the nuances in all languages. The only minor blot eas the roadworks over which even Tui had no control.

Der Ausflug war sehr schön und interessant. Leider war die Zeit im archäologischen Park Neapolis und in der Altstadt etwas eng bemessen, was aber ein Grund ist, beides nochmal zu besuchen. Von Fabio, unserem Tui-Guide, erfuhren wir sehr viel über die alten Griechen und das Leben damals. Er nimmt sich Zeit für Fragen und rennt nicht vorneweg. Er erklärt alles sehr gut auf englisch und deutsch. Ein sehr schöner Ausflug!!!

Nous avons passé bien plus de temps au parc archéologique (dont l'accès n'est pas compris dans le prix -17 euros en plus ! - et dont je me serais passée) qu'à Ortigia où nous avions seulement 2h pour visiter.

Rekommenderas varmt! Trevlig och genuint engagerad guide med mycket kunskap om Siciliens historia som han förmedlade under resans gång. Beskrev även vad vi passerade på vägen till Syrakusa. Uppskattade de tre timmar som vi fick att upptäcka Ortiga innan vi åkte vidare till den arkeologiska parken. Även guiden som tog hand om oss där var mycket bra.

Toute la matinée passée au parc archéologique, rien vu de la ville de Syracuse et à peine une heure à Ortygie. Pourquoi terminer une excursion à 14h45' quand il y aurait tant d'autres choses à voir? Cette excursion n'a pas été à la hauteur de nos espérances.

The tour overall was great, both sites were very interesting and the local guide, as well as the tour guide, were both excellent. A comfort stop on the way back would be helpful. Otherwise no changes needed.

Reiseleitung wusste sehr viel und interessant. Auch zu sehen, wie die Felsen händisch herausgebrochen wurden. Im Park die Vegetation gut gemacht. Altstadtführung in der Mittagshitze bei 45 Grad einfach zu lange und zu viel - könnte man kürzer gestalten!

Gids erg kundig, chauffeur prima. Minibus had voor ons (lang, slank) weinig comfort. Zaten klem achterin aangezien busje ons als laatste ophaalde. Reis vrij lang, bijna 2 uur. Neapolis interessant maar erg warm. Tour had korter gekund. St Luciakerk was optioneel en goed qua tijd. Helaas erg weinig tijd om nog te lunchen en Syracuse te bezoeken maar 1 uur. Tip: kosten voor Neapolis bij excursieprijs optellen. Je hebt toch geen keuze. Dan rest je 2 uur wachten op een parkeerplaats buiten de stad

Bezoek archeologische site optioneel, maar als je niet meedoet zit je anderhalf uur te wachten tot de groep terug is. De chauffeur zou de niet-deelnemers kunnen afzetten in Syracusa na overleg met de gids

Fabio is zeer goede gids die bij alles zeer veel uitleg geeft. Geschiedenis met veel anekdotes tijdens de bustijd zodat de afstand toch vlug overbrugt was.

super leuke en ervaren gids. Heel vriendelijk en doe zijn best om ieder tevreden te stellen. Wij hadden deze gids ook voor de Godfather tour in Savoca en hoopte op dezelfde voor Syracuse. Zeker een aanrader. Enkel wat meer spenderen in Siracuse zelf ipv de ruines, dit was minder.

Not enough time in Saracusa then at the hottest part of the day the unesco heritage site perhaps better to have done this the other way around and a bit much to have to pay for the unesco site when we had already paid for the trip even though it was optional to go to the unesco site nobody is going to sit on a bus for around an hour and a half in the heat of the day if they don’t want to do the unesco site and perhaps a block booking by TUI once numbers are known to save time queuing

Great day out. Tour guide very informative. It was a very hot day but we had been advised to wear sensible foot wear and to bring a hat and sun team. So if you took the advice then it was ok.

Wenn man sich für die Antike Geschichte von Syrakus, rund um Griechen, Phoenizier, Römer, Normannen, Araber, Spanier deren Kultur, Politik, Architektur interessiert ist die Tour aufjedenfall was. Wir waren zu erst im Archiäologischen Park auf den Spuren des Griechisch-Römischen Syrakus und dann in der Altstadt wo wir uns unteranderem den Dom, eine der ältesten Kirchen Europasangeschaut haben, bevor ausreichend Zeit zur Erholung war. Super Tour.

Vind het jammer dat er meerdere mensen waren die enkel nederlands spreken en dat de uitleg in het engels en duits werd gedaan. Duitstaligen waren er 2 in de groep , belgen en nederlanders meer dan 10. Vind dat we door tui tekort zijn gedaan

Fantastische gids Salvina, die heel duidelijk Engels en Duits sprak. Gaf heel veel info op de bus waardoor de langere rit sneller vooruit ging. Steeds beschikbaar voor extra vragen en veel info in het oude stadsgedeelte en op de historische site. Jammer dat het Griekse theater overbouwd was voor evenementen tijdens de zomermaanden waardoor we het niet in zijn echte glorie konden bewonderen. Zou wel handig geweest zijn vooraf te weten. Pluspunt expositie van Mitoraj paste perfect op de site!

- 20 minuten te laat - 3u op de bus ipv 1,5uur (wegens file denk ik maar calculeer dat dan in en vertrek vroeger) - te weinig tijd in stad - In het hoog seizoen zou ik eerst naar de archeologische site gaan en nadien naar het stadje. Ik begrijp niet goed dat je op het heetst van de dag de zwaarste wandel activiteit plant. Het enige waar ik aan kon denken was, dat het maar vlug gedaan is zodat we op de frisse bus kunnen zitten. En ik denk niet dit de bedoeling is. - lieve gids

Mir hat rundum alles gefallen. Ich war besonders begeistert von der Leitung der Gruppe / Guide. Die Dame war sehr kompetent, freundlich und auch sprachlich super. Das einzige, was mich persönlich etwas gestört hat, war die Zeit der Toilettenpausen. Das hätten gern 5 Minuten mehr sein können.

Pour le prix, l'entrée du site archéologique devrait être inclus. Dommage qu'il n'y avait pas le français comme 3ème langue. Sinon belle journée et belle découverte de Syracuse.

Laccompagnatrice n'a fait aucun efforts pour nous faire comprendre l'essentiel dans notre langue elle nous a plutôt ignoré. Très déçue par l!accompagnatrice mais belle excursion. Je trouve quand-même que le prix des excursions sont un peu exagéré

Prima tour. Overal werd ruim tijd gegeven. De gidsen spreken zeer goed Engels/Duits en er werd een goede en mooie uitleg gegeven bij wat je zag. Als je van oudheden houd is het zeker een aanrader. Ook de gids in de bus, Fabio is een zeer onderhoudende gids. Humor word niet gemeden.??
