When you've got waterfalls, colourful villages and plenty of culture on your doorstep, there's nothing quite like getting out and into the action. This full day tour sees you mingling with locals at schools, exploring Bayaguana, swimming in waterfalls and seeing how sugar cane and tobacco are processed. A lunch at Salto Alto Ranch completes the day.You'll get to see and experience the local way of life on this tour, and it all begins with a drive through small villages. Your destination will be a sugar cane plantation to get to know the island's all-important industry, then a school and a typical home to taste offerings of chocolate, coffee and fruits.Next you'll walk the streets around Bayaguana, visiting its historic church, the market and a small cigar factory. Then, the natural pools at the bottom of Salto Alto Waterfalls will be calling and you'll have the chance to take a dip before a buffet lunch at Salto Anto Ranch.

My hubby is disabled and we were told this was suitable ….. we didn’t even get on the bus as the steps were too high for him …. We asked at least 4 times if this was a suitable trip and was told “ oh yes it’s just like the hotel bus “ we ok it wasn’t so didn’t get to enjoy at all and was told we would not get any refund !!!!!!! Not happy

Our tour guide was fantastic! He did an awesome job! He engaged everyone, and was very attentive and energetic. We loved him! The bus seats were not the most comfortable, with that being said, they were what we expected them to be.

Ppl to warned about the amount of step up/down to waterfall and need to wear footwear if having a dip due to stones, rocks, roots etc. Overall the day was fantastic and informative

De gids was veel te laat waardoor wij op het 2e ophaalpunt een half uur hebben moeten wachten. De tour zou 4-8 duren maar duurde uiteindelijk 11 uur. Te lang in de truck met weinig uitleg over de Dominicaanse republiek, dit heb ik beter meegemaakt. De kerk die wij verwachtten en die op het plaatje in de beschrijving stond hebben wij alleen bij langsrijden gezien. Helaas was de lunch de laatste stop, dus pas na half 3. Dat is te laat als je om 7.30 vertrekt.

We really liked seeing the island. The guide was great (Will) was so informative and so friendly. Did a great job as had to do the same speech in 3 different languages. He really went the extra mile. Loved the waterfall. From pick up from hotel to return was 10 hours for the day. The only negative is you are on the safari bus (lots of bumps) for a very long time. More on the bus than off. Also if raining do not sit at the back. My hair, neck and white dress was full of dirt and wet from r

The journey was longer than we expected. We weren't told hold long we would be travelling until we got to the waterfall. The vehicle was ok but very uncomfortable for such a long journey.

Let people know exactly how long they will be on the bus in comparison to the actual activities. Provide more regular water on the bus.

Toffe excursie waar je de locale mensen ontmoet. Zo krijg je een beeld van de dominicaanse republiek buiten de resort. Zwemmen aan de waterval was top! Ook een zeer vriendelijke en grappige reisgids **********! Een aanrader!!

Super Tour um das Land kennen zu lernen. Top Qualität der gebotenen Einblicke. Sehr gut erklärt und das Baden im Wasserfall war ein Highlight.

We are approaching the rep tomorrow for a refund of this mis-sold, dangerous rip off. The vehicle was dangerous and unroadworthy with thin bench seats and plastic seat belts. The journey was insanely long at over 2 hours just to get to the destination. The guide was a conman, encouraging and guilting everyone to buy things at extortionate prices to give to the 'children who have nothing'. I believe he had lined his own pocket by using preplanned shops he was creaming money from. Not enough space

Spent far too long in the lorry and it wasn’t a comfortable drive, been left with a sore knee! Seeing the cigars being made was interesting and informative, the plantation visit was nice but I felt this was about making a sale which I would have done had the prices been better. The waterfall was lively but we should have been told before the trip that it required step access as some people couldn’t do this. Overall I felt the trip was “miss-sold” to us.

We did not see any cigar rolling or rum making, which was the main reason for us booking the trip, the waterfall was beautiful however we were told it was a few steps, but it was more like 100. My mum is 74 & I have a disability so it would have been nice to know before hand. The guide was OK, however he was monopolised by an italian couple & didn't let anyone else have a chance to speak to him. The guide also forgot that there were english speaking on the tour & sometimes only spoke in Italian

Excursion complètement nulle et mensongère… pas de visite de fabrique de tabac, ni de café ni de cacao eu mieux on nous a montré quelques cabosses ( donc le guide ne connaissait même pas le nom)… le marché a duré 5 min maximum… bref complètement nul et nous espérons un geste commercial de tui…

The nearest we got to seeing a sugar cane plantation was the driver stopping at the side of the road and cutting a cane for us to try. I did not like being taken to a specific shop to buy gifts (at very high prices) for the poor children. I suspect the guide got a cut from the shop. Equally the prices being asked at Big Mamma's were extortionate. It would be nice to be able to shop freely on your trips, not taken to the odd specific pace to get ripped off.

It was all a just selling experience, not actually seeing how things were produced etc. As soon as you arrive at the CIGAR SHOP, they light up loads of cigars for people, I did not sign up to stand in the middle of a load of smoke to see one being made, not very inclusive. Then we saw a cacao tree, someone roasting some cacao beans and then given coffee and ‘homemade Nutella’ to try and to buy. Lunch was not by the waterfall as suggested but back along the dirt track. Very long day.

After multiple pick ups we were 3hrs on road! To then stop on side of road no toilets in sight to taste a piece of sugarcane? No growing sugar cane in sight not sure why we stopped. We then stopped and walked round small town. Only thing worth doing was swim in waterfall was nice. Stopped at village house which was also OK. Then 3hr journey back. Could of been better, apart from one couple from Canada rest of tour were French, most things said in French.

Silver our guide and our driver were brilliant. If you are pregnant or have a back or spine problems the journey was very very bumpy in parts. We both enjoyed the day very much very educational would recommend.

We were out for 11 hours of which approx 6.5 hours were on a truck clearly not fit for a journey of this length. The journey back was 3.5 hours with only one break after 2.5 hours. The state of the roads we travelled also meant the truck was not fit for purpose

Veel kilometers in een vrij oncomfortabele truck, maar we hebben veel verschillende interessante dingen gezien. Het begin van de reis was wat chaotisch, er was geen deelnemerslijst, dusoest er 2 keer een foto van het ticket worden genomen en moesten we zelfs nog een lijst invullen. Wel TUI, dat kan en moet beter....

We weren't happy going into the church during a funeral. Friends visited a fruit Market which we sadly didn't. Cigar making was very enjoyable. Food very good.

positifs Le guide très bien la nourriture était ********** Visite de la canne à sucre super la cascade était bien dégustation locale, découverte village, découverte ville, église bien Négatif Les distances annoncés (1h10h) et celles en réelles n’ont rien avoir (2h30) arrêt pour voir des enfants : catastrophe, mal géré on a eu l’impression de donner à manger à du bétail. Il faut changer l’organisation. Les bâches mises lors de pluie sont dangereuses (gaz échappement s’accumulent - irrespirable)

The transfer was 3 hrs from pick up to first stop off point which was too long. We walked round a fruit market that seemed chaotic and me and my daughter didn't feel safe. The cigar factory and coffee and chocolate making were great aswell as the waterfall. Lunch was nice however the journey back again was too long. The last selling the coffee and chocolate was overpriced but would have like to buy.

Aanrader om lokale bevolking te zien, mooie natuur, proeven van lokale producten. Waterval is prachtig en niet druk. Misschien soms eens wat meer stoppen om gelegenheid te geven om een foto te nemen. Een aanrader als je iets anders wil dan het puur toeristische.

A great tour, got to see a lot of the beautiful Dominican countryside and an authentic (untouristy) Dominican town. The highlight a beautiful waterfall, with much needed swim in the refreshing waters. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly, though his timings for next available toilets was interesting to say the least! And then when we got the to place with the toilet it wasn't pointed out straight away. The open air jeep was fun and great for seeing the scenery but very uncomfortable!

In the countryside, we could buy goods at greatly increased prices, such as coffee, cocoa beans, cigars. It is limited to one homestead with only one or two trees that illustrate, for example, coffee plantations, etc. and in the same homestead the prices of coffee, cocoa, syrup, etc. goods are several times higher than those on the market. This is unpleasant!
