This small country households a big scale of various grapes and wines. Characteristic to North-Macedonian wine is the strong fruity taste, so they are not shy to show themselves. The splendid wine bar Bacchus, located in the heart of the old town, owns 250 different types of North Macedonian wines.When arriving, the host will welcome you with a local drink. Afterward, the first wine will be poured in the glasses and the experience will start. The sommelier will demonstrate the way of drinking and provide explanation about the origin, taste, brand and quality of the wine. This applies for all three rounds and while doing so, the first platters will be placed on the table. As you're tasting these local bites, you'll appreciate the relaxed vibes of the bar, its social people and historical location.

The wines were lovely as was the food. The venue was perfect and the bar staff were helpful and friendly. Loads of helpful information and the experience was interesting.

De eigenaar van Bachus was heel vriendelijk en heel goed onderlegd. We hadden met zijn zessen een gezellige avond. Veel over de wijnen geleerd. Het enige minpunt was dat hij bij aanvang niets wist van onze inschrijving (tui?). Maar hij wist er meteen op in te spelen en zorgde dat alles in orde was. Bedankt!!

Je kan net zo goed voor 3 wijnen boeken want je krijgt toch altijd wel 4 wijnen! Scheelt weer geld haha. Daarnaast zou ik buiten Tui om een wijnproeverij boeken, bijvoorbeeld die bij de Monestry. Veel leukere ervaring, wordt veel meer uitgelegd, meer hapjes (bij elke wijn), en een rondleiding. Bij die van Tui krijg je weinig uitleg en een klein plankje met kaas en vlees, thats it.

Vriendelijke gastheer en heel goed verzorgd! De wijnen en hapjes waren erg lekker en het was erg leuk en interessant om te leren over de Macedonische wijnen.

I was the only person that had booked for that evening. I was offered to rebook by the staff at the bar but I was unable to do so, the tour company didn’t let me know but perhaps that’s not what they do. The snacks offered were nice.

The venue was good and atmosphere ok.Disappointing was the way the “wine tasting” was delivered.There was no explanation of the wine.We were shown the bottle, it was poured and then the lady left to serve other customers.This happened with all 3 wines and at the end of the time she just cleared things away without saying anything

Excellent

Enjoyed the evening, it’s a lovely bar, the wines were really nice as were the charcuterie boards and the host was nice and informative. The ticket said the experience would last 2.5hrs so was very surprised to only have 3 wines to taste so it was only about a 1.5hr experience so a bit misleading. But it was only £21 so not unreasonable. We met some lovely people on the taster too which was fab.

My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. A very friendly and knowledgeable host at the Bacchus wine bar in Ohrid Old Town. We we enjoyed it so much we went back a couple more times and bought some Macedonian wine and Rakija! The only negative I can think of is the high seats in the bar were a bit hard on your ********** if you’re lacking padding in that area!
