Elk van de Dodekanesos eilanden heeft zijn eigen charme. En Symi staat boordevol cultuur. Je snuift de relaxte charme op en bezoekt locaties zoals het Panormitisklooster en een sponsmakerij. Fotini, een van onze lokale gidsen, zegt: 'Symi is een van de kleinste en meest pittoreske Griekse eilanden. De aanblik van de kleurrijke huizen zodra je de haven binnenkomt, maakt altijd weer indruk.'Eerst dobber je over de Egeïsche Zee naar Symi. De eerste stop is in het zuidwesten van het eiland, bij het uitgestrekte Panormitisklooster in Venetiaanse stijl. Het is beroemd om zijn Byzantijnse fresco's en icoon van Sint Michael, maar vooral om zijn ligging direct aan het water in een afgelegen en beschutte baai. Je hebt ook tijd om de site op je gemak te verkennen.Vervolgens vaar je naar Symi-stad. De aankomst in de haven is een lust voor het oog - de pastelkleurige huizen lijken trapsgewijs vanaf de omliggende heuvels te vallen. Je maakt een rondleiding door de stad. En tijdens het bezoek aan de sponsproducent kom je alles te weten over het erfgoed van het sponsduiken op het eiland en het belang ervan voor het ecosysteem rond het Symi. Met je bezoek steun je deze traditionele industrie, die van vitaal belang is voor de lokale gemeenschap. Je krijgt ook een klein geschenkje mee naar huis. Het is Fotini's favoriete onderdeel van de tocht. Ze zegt: 'De oude traditie van het sponsduiken heeft de geschiedenis en de gebruiken van de Dodekanesos sterk beïnvloed.'

Excellent day trip, 7am pick up & 7pm return, 12 hour day is fine but was advertised as 8 hours, presumably from Rhodes town. Coach was timely & fine but no information, ferry was fantastic, guide was great although earpiece was faulty. Symi was scenic, monastery was marvellous & weather was wonderful except a few showers. Highly recommended.

It was a very long day. 2 hours on the boat to Symi with only 3 hours on the island. 1 hour of that was taken up with a tour. Then it was another hour on the boat to the monastery, with an hours stop then 1 hour 45 mins back to Rhodes. Symi was a beautiful places and Emma our guide was very knowledgeable.

Symi itself is beautiful but would have liked more time in Symi rather than going to the monastery. Depending on where you are staying this can be a very long day for just 3 hours on the island. We were picked up just after 7.00 am and arrived back at 6.00 pm

We had a really great day, the boat trip was great and we had a lovely trip to Simi and back. Due to the amount of travel it didn't leave much time to see the monastery, so I would have preferred to spend more time in Simi town which was amazing.

No communication from getting onto the coach to getting off at the dock, and 6 hours on a ferry wasn't what we had in mind for 111 pounds it was very poor conditions cramped lack of seating, people cramped on with strangers touching shoulders because the seats are so close back to back and then having to face other strangers for that amount of time is unreasonable. Overpriced snacks and drink.

Be aware it takes a while to get there and can be crowded and seats aren't that comfortable. Once there you don't have that long to explore especially if you take the tour. The trip to the monastery was OK but would rather have had time at first stop.

The tour was only guided from the point of reaching Symi island. Hotel pick up and boat transfers to Symi was by ourselves, just directed where to go. If it stated guided, I would expect full guide accompanying with commentaries from the hotel pick up. Although Symi was beautiful, I would recommend just book transfer myself - its much cheaper with the same service. I have used Tui excursions before and was always happy with the service. I'm afraid won't do it again.

Didn’t manage to go as partner was not well on the morning of tour. If you get sick and are unable to cancel trip with 24hrs notice, you will not get. Refund (£120) Then with DV they request a medical note to confirm your illness and still they say, no guarantee of refund. Don’t wake up in the early hours of a day trip feeling unwell, it’s tough but get your sick self on the trip, think of the hours of entertainment for your fellow travellers. I’m sure they will be glad to sit next to you!

The Boat transfer went smoothly, however due to the age of the vessel there was an excessive amount of exhaust fumes -which whilst I moved to various locations on the boat to avoid inhalation. This made me feel ill. Journey coming back seemed long. It would have been nice to have the option to travel on a faster more modern vessel. Time spent in Symi was reasonable. We only had 40-45 mins at the monetary - not enough time to explore or sit for a drink. Both were beautiful.

Far too much time spent on the ferry and not enough time in Symi itself. Monastery was uncessary and we was expecting something amazing when we had spent another hour on the ferry to get there. Felt disappointed and didn't understand all the hype about the monastery TBH. Symi was beautiful and would have benefited from more time there.

The excursion did not state in the description that it had no public toilets and this should be fully explained that this is not suitable for some disabled people or children with disabilities. This impacted the full day and I would not have booked knowing this was the case. I have emailed to complain on various occasions and been offered as £24 refund which is laughable

A long 12 hour day, left the hotel at 7.00, and the ferry didn't leave port until 9.00 and took c2 hrs to get to Symi, which was pretty, and Emma our guide was good, but it was a classic sweep you around for 30 mins, point out the 'Tui recommended' restaurant and left for 2 hours, in what is a touristy harbour with cafes. Then 2 hours to the monastery where we only had 30 mins time to visit. Its a small church with hundreds of visitors, some dressed in crop tops and mini skirts - shameful.

Boat took around 1 hour 30 mins. I would advise to sit inside as half way through it gets very cold and you’ll get wet sitting outside. Everyone then congratulated inside. I didn’t like it that people where moaning because my 5 year old had his own seat a people wanted his seat an expected him to sit on my lap the entire way!! Very long day the monastery was okay, symi island was very beautiful

Symi and the Panormitis Monastery are both beautiful destinations, but the tour felt overly long, with the majority of the time spent on the coach and a crowded, uncomfortable ferry. Our visit to the monastery felt particularly rushed, with just 20 minutes to look around. While Symi is undeniably charming, it’s quite small and becomes very crowded due to the large number of tour groups arriving daily, which makes it difficult to enjoy a relaxed visit. That said, our guide Emma was lovely.

I'm sure that when I booked this trip it was meant to have a swim stop! You get told to bring bathing stuff. So expected there to be a swim stop. Had it been clearer we would have worn more comfortable clothing. Us (party of 2 and many others) wore our swim stuff only and after about 5 hours got very uncomfortable for the 9 hour day. Just would have been more enjoyable if we were in more comfortable clothing! And don't bring a heavy bag with towels and stuff because there's a bit of walking!! X

Loved our trip to Symi but it was really long day. The ferry was not very comfortable, was crowded and took almost two hours. The transfer to our hotel was almost two hours too. Our guide was great - Enthusiastic and knowledgeable but the Tui recommended restaurant on Symi was disappointing. Great location but the food was mediocre and everything I asked for off the menu was unavailable :(

Symi island was lovely but the gide that was with us was a waste of time, not much information given, the earpiece that was given to us constantly lost it's signal so unless you were stood next to the guide, nothing could be heard anyway, the guide's English wasn't the best so was hard to understand anyway. We, along with some others from the group gave up on the guide and did our own tour. At the monastery we were just left to it, no information at all.

The trip to Symi was lovely and we really enjoyed it. Our tour guide was really good. My only criticism is that we were staying in the lindos village and spa but was picked up at the hotel royal. On the return we asked the driver to drop us off at our hotel which he kindly did as I wasn’t walking up the hill in the heat. Plus the 4 passengers were all from Lindos village and none from the hotel royal.

Symi is beautiful and we are glad that we saw it. However, the trip there (from Lindos Bay) was not the way to do it. It was a 10hr day and we were travelling for just over 6 of those hours. Fatiguing and a wasted day.

I enjoyed the tour guide, he was very informative and had a good knowledge of the place itself. I enjoyed the boat over to SYMI and the whole trip was well organised. Monastery was far to overcrowded, with the addition we were told to 'cover up', as rightly expected. However others were wearing skimpy bikinis, which I thought totally disrespectful for a house of God. Tour guide was OK but (German?) accent was sometimes difficult to understand, in fairness not helped by the earpieces not being the clearest. Overall, glad we went, wouldn't go again.

The good experience started with our tour guide Dimitri, his was very knowledgeable and attentive, the day we went was very Hot and tailored his tour to keep exposure in the Sun to a minimum. His passion for the island was clear to see. Everyone we met were kind, helpful and welcoming. The boat crew were fantastic.

A reasonably early start but meant we got a seat on the boat. Our guide was very good, with clear instructions and information when we were at the two stops. I felt a little rushed at the monastery but it was getting busy and the guide got us into the church quickly to avoid waiting in a queue. Plenty of time at the second stop to have something to eat, look in the shops and have a swim. Managed to capture some excellent photos! It is nice to see a different view of Rhodes from the boat.

Loved the island but not the guided walk around the harbour area. Too long at 1hour in the heat of midday sun. Free time was ok as we could take shade etc. and explore. Panormitis Monastery could have been better and felt rushed. Was made out as a big part of the day but seemed an afterthought. Maybe would’ve been better to visit first then onto Symi town.

It was fair value for the trip, the only thing that got to me was this. It said you had to cover shoulders and knees, so numbskull here wore jeans. I was the only bloke that wasn’t wearing shorts, yet they all got into the monastery no problem. So uncomfortable in the heat. Otherwise an excellent day out. Guide gave you enough info without overdoing it, allowing plenty of free time. Ferry was fine too, and the shop staff were lovely on board. Wear t-shirt and normal shorts, you’ll be fine.

Everything went like clockwork from our time of pickup on a large clean bus with not to many pickups. Arrived in Rhodes and information clearly explained how and where to get ferry to Symi and how to get your earphones to work on the correct channel. Very interesting tour of Symi about the 1st sponge divers and the invention of the 1st deep diving suits. We did have time for a quick lunch and drinks before boarding ferry and heading to the monastery stop to discuss the Arcangel Michael

Excellent day trip to Symi, bus transfer was 25 minutes late - must be a way they can inform hotels? Emma the guide was excellent, took us on a great tour, some local info. Very much enjoyed the sponge shop and information here. Panormitis monestry interesting but not a lot to do here for the long boat trip. Also to note - it states please bring bathing gear on the info - don't bother, there is no opportunity to swim you just have to carry it round with you and not allowed to leave on boat!

When coming to Rhodes I Definitely Recommend taking a visit to Symi Island. Our Guide was very well informed about the history of symi island and the monastery. He also recommended a beautiful restaurant that is very reasonable called Nireus which is a short walk to the right when getting of the boat. He took us to a local sponge shop on the island were he spoke about the history of the natural sponges at the end we got a wee gift as a thank you Which was very nice of them. Overall Recommend

Organizacja wycieczki na poziomie. Jedyny minus jest to wyspa typowo turystyczna i ceny sa bardzo wysokie w porównaniu do Rodos. Jesli chcesz miec dobre miejsce na statku szybko wracaj bo potem musisz siedziec np na 2 poziomie zamknietym lub pierwszym. Jesli chodzi o góre to siadaj tylko na powietrzu nie od dachem bo udusic mozna sie

Where to begin. So the start of the tour was great. Bit by the mid point our guide had vanished leaving us to work out ourselves boarding of ferry and onward travel. The coach journey back to hotel done in a coach with an obvious brake fault, with driver on mobile phone for most of journey resulting in some avoidable heavy breaking incidents. If this had been a trip booked locally then hey ho, you get what you pay for. But this was meant to be a TUI experience and was very disappointed.

I went as a solo female traveller wanting to feel a little safer being with a group. 100% felt safe. 1st stopped at the monastery which was stunning but felt a bit rushed as the guide kept us outside talking for ages. Then went to the main village. Lots of shops, restaurants and beautiful scenery. The guide walked and talked on this bit so was a lot better. Then we had lots of free time. I recommend the 600 step climb to the top if you can. Gorgeous restaurants along the way. Beautiful views.

The timing and service overall was good. The visit to Panormitis Monastery was not worth it. A whole 3 hour to/from/see the Monastery and nothing else is not good use of time.

Symi is beautiful and very interesting. However, the guide as extremely knowledgeable but didn’t take into account those, like me, with mobility issues. She assembled furthest from the boat every time and tac s around the tour at a speed that didn’t cater for the slowest member of the group. Also, there are no public toilets on Symi and this wasn’t made clear. So, 4 hours without a wee didn’t make things comfortable!

Superb Boat trip & Symi is a beautiful Island, the boat was a little too crowded, and please remember to switch roaming off as you travel in Turkish Waters to save ending up with an unexpected bill . But the best day out from Rhodes.

Tour guide was incredible and so knowledgeable. We went during October so assumed it would be quieter but it the boat was very busy and we weren't able to get an outdoor seat on either parts of the boat journeys. Far too much time in Symi (lots of shops and restuarants closed due to the time of year) not enough time at Panormitis. Would have preferred to split my time more equally. Pick up and drop off very easy

This excursion offers the opportunity to visit an absolute hidden jewel of an Island. Symi is beautiful and both parts of the trip, the Monastery and the main harbour town are well worth the visit, with breathtaking views. Our guide was excellent and very knowledgeable offering interesting and relevant information throughout the time he was with us. This excursion is well worth doing and is great value for money. Some may find it’s a long day, but even that wouldn’t deter us.

The monastery was waste of time too many people trying to get into it, best thing about there was watching the turtles in the sea, Symi main town was very picturesque and well worth a visit although feel guide was implying that bars and restaurants try to rip you off and took us round to a so called approved by TUI restaurant which was very poor and after chatting with couple of other trippers suspected he was getting a free lunch for bringing us there.

Symi is beautiful ,you have about 3 hours free time to explore which is not enough if you want to go to top and enjoy some food..especially if you have kids with you. The down thing is the boat gets so full and by the time the picked us from hotel and went to the harbour by coatch..there were no place even to sit as people near the harbour got in first.not suitable if you get sea sick. Overall,it is beautiful and deserves the journey if you get space to sit in the boat.very kind crew on board

Looking around Symi and the harbour, learning about the history. Guide was really informative We were less impressed with the monastery although the guide was again really informative but there was something lacking somehow, I think we expecting a guided. Also there was always a scramble for seats people where so intent on getting on their own agenda there's was a lot pushing and, reminded us of football crowds, not pleasant.

While we were on the boat there were people getting sick everywhere. In the hand basin in the toilets the lot. It was vile. The boat staff were not one bit phased by it. The cleaning up process was disgusting. No hygiene what so ever. The boat was far too crowded people were squashed like sardines.

Enjoyed the excursion very much: Symi was great, excellent guide and the boat journey around the coast line of Symi. Did not enjoy the return transfer Rhodes to Lindos which was very long.

Loved this tour as it realistically allowed us to see Symi - whereas the travel for us independently wouldn’t have been doable without a taxi to the port in Rhodes. The tour guide was extremely knowledgeable and lovely. Symi is absolutely beautiful and a must see. You definitely don’t need to take your passport though (states upon booking you need to take passports and I checked with TUI before the tour), but they are not needed.

The whole day was good, I enjoyed it and our guide was very knowledgeable! The only down side was that it was unbearably hot and there was no shade unless you were in a Taverna / Restaurant. Luckily I took my swimmers so could cool off!

Enjoyed free time on the island to explore. Fumes from the exhaust on the boat were terrible. Boat felt over crowded. Coach came to pick us up at our hotel even though we had been told several times it would pick us up from a different hotel. Luckily it came early and was there as we came out of our hotel.
