Een bezoek aan het Troodosgebergte is een reis naar een ander Cyprus. Met bomen begroeide valleien zijn bezaaid met rustieke stenen dorpen waar tradities nog steeds in ere worden gehouden. Op deze tour trek je het spirituele hart in van de hooglanden, naar het Kykkosklooster en de Throni-heuvel. Alexia, een van onze lokale gidsen, zegt: "De icoon van de Maagd Maria in Kykkos wordt als een wonder beschouwd, dus het is belangrijk voor Cyprioten om de kerk minstens een keer per jaar te bezoeken."Als je het Troodosgebergte intrekt, kom je weelderige landschappen tegen die in contrast staan met de dorre kust. Eerst ga je naar het Kykkosklooster. Dit klooster ligt op de berg Kykkos en is beladen met religieuze schatten. Je kijkt je ogen uit op de gouden iconen en fresco's, maar niet op de icoon van de Maagd Maria. De laatste bekende bezichtiging dateert van honderden jaren geleden. Je hebt ook tijd om wat rond te kuieren op het terrein en stil te staan bij het panoramische uitzicht op de bergen. En met je bezoek draag je bij aan het behoud van deze belangrijke erfgoedsite.Daarna bezoek je het graf van aartsbisschop Makarios III bovenop een heuvel. Je hebt een episch uitzicht voordat je afdaalt naar het dorp Pedoulas. Hier schuif je aan voor een typisch Cypriotische lunch bereid met ingrediënten uit de streek in een familierestaurant. Je hebt wat tijd voor een optionele wandeling naar de Orthodoxe kerk van het Heilige Kruis. En op de terugweg maak je nog een koffiestop in Pano Platres.

Mooi, maar heel ver meer tijd op de bus dan eruit. De inbegrepen lunch is niet wauw en wijn was niet te drinken net azijn. Klooster wel de moeite om te zien. Oude bus en heel warm (airco was gedateerd) en gids niet goed begrijpbaar ( micro niet goed afgesteld)

Die Sehenswürdigkeiten der Tour wurden in einem halben Tag abgefahren. Die zweite Hälfte des Tages wurde mit dem Lunch (nichts Besonderes) und einer Getränkepause (Kaffee, Tee oder Limonade (?) gefüllt, diese beiden Stopps hätte man sich sparen können.

We had incredible time. Well, my 14 year old did get very travel sick as the roads were very corkscrew. It’s a very long day. Mef the guide was extremely kind to her. And she was funny and knowledgeable. The stops were brilliant and interesting too. This is a beautiful part of Cyprus that you must see.

The drive was exceptionally performed by our driver, Philip. Our tour guide; (I believe her name was Lisl), her intellectual knowledge was absolutely 2nd to none, and the clarity in her presentation was brilliant, clear and precise. A very very intelligent woman!

Enjoyed scenery and Guide was knowledgeable. I have mobility issues and use a Scooter. Kykos Monastery was totally unsuitable for people like me. No effort had been made to install ramps. Only one to access the WCs. Therefore 2 levels were not accessible to me Very disappointing. Coach bottom step was really high and getting down it was agony. I remained on the coach at two stops. Driver was not helpful assisting my husband with Scooter. Neither Driver nor Guide understood my difficulties.

Die Begrüßung von der Reiseleiterin Liza am Bus war sehr hektisch und unter Stress. Das setzte sich auch beim Ausflug zum Teil fort und ebeso beim Mittagessen. Abfertigung wie in der Kaserne. Das Essen war auch sehr enttäuschend. Kalt, kaum gewürzt. Salat ohne alles (Essig, Öl). Zum Schluss wurden wir noch an einem fremden Hotel mehr oder weniger rausgebeten, obwohl wir sie darauf hinwiesen, dass das nicht die Einstiegsstelle ist. Alles sehr schade, weil es ansonsten ein schöner Ausflug ist.

The tour guide was really good and knowledgeable. She explained the culture and the ethos of Cyprus. Also explained aspects of the monastery that you wouldn’t have got to know otherwise you had access to drink and toilets on a regular basis. The views of the countryside were stunning. The one thing which took us by surprise was the taxi at the beginning, picking us up and we had know idea where we were going or what the plan was. The tour as a whole was good and the tour guide made it special

The lady guide was very knowledgeable about it all, the driver was very professional, scenery amazing, tour was a full day and full on but was amazing, with time to relax and look at the amazing views and look in the church/monestry with a good history of the island and people past and present, lunch and refreshments was amazing. Guide was very good as was the driver. Luckily it was a new coach as this is a long journey up the mountains and numerous bendy roads. If you suffer from travel sickness would recommend taking precautions! We stopped for a coffee en route which was fine and then went to the monastery which was beautiful and then the memorial to the archbishop. Lunch was passable like other reviews mention not the best. Then made our way back with another coffee stop. We got picked up 830 and back at 1800

First of all Guide and Driver, both superb. Full points for them BUT no points for the Restaurant. main area of concern was the restaurant lunch. Many live and dead insects just swept up into a heap in a corner of the private room we were in. Crawling about in the corner. Lunch plate piled high with poorly cooked & seasoned potatoes, vegetables, and couscous (I think!) to hide the very small portions of meat! Both live and dead flying insects within the restaurants ice cream display freezer!

The guide (Lisa) was very knowledgeable about the monastery and church, the mountains and Cyprus life in general, making for an interesting and informative trip. The visits were all enjoyable and well worth seeing. Drink stops in the villages were nice. Lunch was good The only slight negative was the amount of time travelling but to see the monastery and church this is necessary.

there was nothing really to the tour aside from the monastery visit. it was a long day for just that. A lunch stop truly average in quality, + very soon after another stop for drinks. Guide talk was well done, driving too - but there just needs to be more actual content (sights) to justify.

Our guide was excellent. Very informative and clear with instructions etc. the lunch was served in a canteen sort of way. The waiters were gruff and the food was almost thrown at us. We would have liked more traditional taverna. The coffee at the coffee stop was ghastly! But the rest of the tour was good and suitable comfort stops

The food at lunchtime was of poor quality. The chicken was almost impossible to eat. Several of our fellow guests were also of the same opinion.Other than the food the rest was very good. Too long a bus journey for us would have preferred more time to explore a village on our own. Two very uncooperative customers who cannot tell the time were late back to the bus on several occasions. Food provided at lunch was good if a bit disorganised.

Originally booked tour which was then cancelled, so had to cancel another trip as thought this one would have been the better experience. Unfortunately wrong choice. Tour guide very good and informative but far too many coffee stops and not enough time to look at the main features. Food was cold and late, even though ordered ahead. I got my food with 10 mins to eat until back on the coach. The wine on our table had sedement in the glasses. Not worth the money paid and the time taken

The tour itself was amazing .Lunch was a very large prtion and most prople couldnt eat half of it.We werent told we would be dropped at another place to wait got the main bus.The mini bus was not safe with most seat belts not working .The driver was also driving dangerously and just dumoed us on thd dide of the road .We had to guess what to do next.This fortunately didnt end up spoiling our day the guide and main coach driver were amazing

Being mobility restricted, I use a 4-wheel walker. Nonetheless I found full enjoyment and as much access as I needed to find the tour very enjoyable. The Guide and Driver were so helpful. The lunch was good if not overwhelming in quantity. Good stops along the way. Interesting and fulsome commentary throughout.

I loved the tour of the Troodos Mountains. It was great to see the beautiful landscape. I enjoyed visiting Kykkos Monastery as it is such a beautiful place to see. However, I would have liked longer at the Monastery and a chance to visit the gift shop near the monastery which seemed to have a greater selection of items than the shop we went to. Further, it would have been interesting if the Guide had talked about Platres connection with England through the author Daphne Du Maurier.

The trip to the monastery was beautiful and we enjoyed listening to Liza. What we didn't enjoy was the lunch Chicken thighs , very little meat, the veg was hard and cold with 2 massive unsliced potatoes, warm macaroni bolognaise , massive portion and stodgy. The restaurant was freezing ( most went back to the coach for warmth. The 2 coffee stops, disappointing, cramped and limited toilet facilities. We would suggest 1 good hotel with a salad lunch , desert and coffeee etc in the warm. ,

It seemed senseless to rate the above, and difficult to isolate your points Overall the trip was good. The driver, who needs to be mentioned was brilliant! Coffee stop enroute was chaotic, using one coffee machine. Suggestion: as they knew we were coming, they could have arranged insulated coffee flasks. Guide could have hectored us less on the Greek language, and given more info. Lunch was awful! Faulty towers but with horrid cold food. I couldn't eat it, and was not alone. How disappointing.

Kompetente Reiseleitung mit vielen interessanten Informationen, guter Busfahrer, etwas mehr Beinfreiheit in diesem Bus 2 Kaffeepausen ( 1 im Preis incl.) ziehen die Fahrt unnötig in die Länge: Kaffee und Tee eher schlecht Für Toilettenpausen müsste eine andere Lösung gefunden werden. Das Mittagessen war eigentlich ok Insgesamt ein lohnender Ausflug mit viel Landschaft, einem beeindruckenden Kloster und dem Grab von Makarios

You spend a decent amount of time on the coach and being mountainous the roads are narrow and windy so if you are a poor traveller it's not for you. Our trip was made more bearable by the excellent guide who had great knowledge. The views are superb and I would recommend this trip.

Beschreibung passt nicht auf Tour: 30 Minuten im Kloster, 30 Minuten am Berg - beides Freizeit! Mittagessen SINNLOSE 90 Minuten, Kaffeepause sinnlose 30 Minuten, gleich zu Beginn Kaffeepause 30 Minuten außerhalb des Planes - der Rest des Tages im Bus! Auch wenn die Landschaft schön ist - der Beschreibung nach haben wir schon etwas ganz Anderes erwartet. Schade um 8 Stunden unseres Urlaubs. Besser mit privater Tour!

The scenery in the mountains was amazing and thoroughly enjoyed. The visit to the monastery was the highlight of the trip but we only spent an hour there and then the next stop at the Tomb was only half an hour. This felt disappointing against one and a half hour lunch with another drink stop half an hour later. Maybe the timings had gone wrong as initially we were refused entry to the bus by the tour guide as she had made an error and then had to return the whole bus to collect us later.

The tour did not get off to a good start. Our friends were left by the pick up point and told by the Tour Guide, Lisa, to get on another bus! They were eventually collected by our bus! The highlight of the tour was the monastery - we had an hour to see it all. We had 30 minutes to visit the tomb of Archbishop Makarios III and yet 90 minutes for a poor lunch! 30 minutes after lunch we had a further cafe stop. Scenery was fantastic. Guide wasn’t approachable or friendly. Overall very disappointing

Only moan I have is that not enough time at the Monastery, didn't see all I wanted .answers the last stop for coffee , pointless stop ,didn't have the complimentary drink as just had lunch and the village had nothing there.

The guide was very informative of knowledge of the area and history. We saw a lot of the mountains and various villages . The lunch was very disappointing, poor quality .

One of our party was booked on the wrong day ! Our guide initially wasn’t very helpful but because we persisted she finally sorted it out so that we could all go . Very poor customer service!

I have visited the Kykkos Monastery , and quite a lot of time is required to see all the artifacts. We spent so much time driving around hills and mountains ( about 65% of the time ) that once the time for lunch was taken out , there was very little time to look around the monestry , let alone its museum . Our first stop for refreshments was a shock , you have to pay , and the stop is short. Due to the amount of driving some people were becoming travel sick. Too much emphasis on the hills

My wife is Russian Othodox and found the experience very spiritual and enlightening. Only slight negative comment is that the rep on the coach kept passing around pictures and stones most of which bore no relevance to the tour. Other than that she was very good and we had a wonderful time. My wife was upset at times with people laughing and joking in the monastery, it's against her religion.

Tour was prima, chauffeur eten en drinken ook, gids was prima. Maar iets te veel info, maar dat is nog altijd beter dan te weinig. En het was bij de restaurants allemaal erg gehaast. Maar verder niets te klagen.

Är du väldigt intresserad av religion är detta en plats för dig men om du är en mer ”vanlig turist” så är detta bara en långdragen resa med buss. 6 timmar i buss med få snabba stopp endast för kaffe och lunch samt ett stopp om en timme vid själva resans främsta föremål, Kykkos kloster, där guiden inte gav oss särskild information alls om historien kring det. Bussens ljudsystem var också väldigt dåligt och guiden pratade främst enbart om träd och andra växter i skogen vi passerade. Missn
