Wat te verwachten
Denk je aan Saona, dan zie je wuivende palmen, parelwitte stranden en kristalhelder water voor je. Inderdaad: het paradijs. En hier is het een dag lang het zalige nietsdoen wat de klok slaat. Je bereikt het eiland met een combinatie van een catamaran en een snelle boot. En onderweg stop je om te snorkelen.Ramon, een van onze deskundige gidsen, zegt: "We doen ons best om onze ongerepte omgeving en alle soorten die deze zo bijzonder maken te beschermen. Wij waren het eerste land dat zeekoeien bij wet beschermde, en we hebben hier op Saona ook een programma voor het behoud van schildpadden”. Het eiland en de omringende zee zijn zo belangrijk voor hun biodiversiteit dat ze als nationaal park worden beschermd.Je zet koers vanuit het vissersdorp Bayahibe richting de zonovergoten zee rond het Nationaal Park Cotubanama. Onderweg plons je met een snorkelmasker in zee om het koraalrif en de tropische vissen te zien. En dan stop je bij een ondiepe poel tussen de zandbanken midden op zee. Eenmaal in Saona, heb je alle tijd om de vergezichten in je op te nemen en dat alles op de foto te zetten. Het is aan jou hoe je deze dag besteedt: je relaxt met een cocktail in je hand of maakt een romantisch rondje op het 1 km lange privé strand met wit poederzand. Previously visited the island with tui with the standard cheaper trip , this time paid for premium and the experience wasn’t any different apart from the part of the island was quieter , everything else was exactly the same , so paying the extra wasn’t any better an experience. It was sold as premium excursion I would have expected the speedboat first then the catamaran to enjoy the experience more coming back . We were underwhelmed with the whole experience . Also the toilets were disgusting

Very disappointed getting dumped on the beach waiting over a hour, with out much explanation, waiting for another party to arrive and the boat being loaded. Only had about two hours on the island was expecting About four. The catamaran journey back was great entertainment , fun with plenty of drinks. Definitely the best way round to do it.. The trip needs to be nearer the description it was sold.That said a good day out and would definitely do it again.

Due to the coach journey time a bottle of water should be provided. Customers should also be made aware of the walk to the marina as there was someone with mobility issues and was left behind by the guide. Speed boat was cramped with 4 persons per seat and again for the catermaran returning not enough seating. As we experienced a rain storm on the island a clean seating area should be provided we used a disused area which was unclean and not suitable. Dining area again cramped but food was good.

toller Tagesausflug, mit vielen schönen Eindrücken! Der Tourguide hatte Humor und hat es toll gemacht. Information waren ausreichend. Die Crew auf den beiden Booten haben absolut Stimmung gemacht und waren gut drauf. Das Mittagessen war reichhaltig und sehr lecker. Alles in allem ein gelungener Tag!

We booked the private Soana island tour as a honeymoon treat. 10/10, would highly recommend! The guide Danilo was absolutely amazing, very welcoming, engaging & a great laugh. We were picked up around 7am and got back to our hotel around 6:30pm so it is a long day but an amazing experience. All staff involved were amazing from start to finish. We experienced a tropical storm whilst at the island but only left 20 mins earlier than planned. The private tour gives you around 3 hours on the island!

This was an awful excursion. Not a bottle of water on offer during the 2 hour coach drive. A small old speed boat (not a catamaran) with no refreshment other than one small cup of rum & coke and cheese cubes on cocktail sticks. the meal on the private beach was awful and there was no cold beer ! This was sold as an experience with endless refreshments and food. To top it all, I found that what was paid to the Rep was more than double the price via the TUI App, utterly disgraceful !

The drinks are only 3 options rum, beer and wine. There should be a few more options. It should be noted that you will return on the same transport that took you there. It was confusing on the return as we asked the driver and he said yes. Thank god, our guide came on and said there was 2 missing from the other bus.

Very disappointed with what was sold to us as an exclusive island experience. Initially it took us over 5 hours to get to the island and why did we have 2 stops along the was at souvenir shops, 1 understandable but 2 totally unnecessary which seemed was happening just to kill time. For that reason it took us over 5 hours to get to the island. Then when at the island we were told it was exclusive private beach it it definitely was not, we were mingled in with other guests from other hotels.

The beach was amazing which is the only reason I’m giving it a thumbs up. Supreme package was very misleading not the experience we were promised. No premium drinks, bottles of beer shared, boat toilets had urine everywhere, the chicken was served raw. Barely got a small drink of water despite being on a beach for 3 hours. Overall disappointing as we paid extra money for a better experience.

The supreme package was not as described by Tui rep. Drinks were not premium, bottles of beer were shared between guests. Toilets on the boat were filthy urine everywhere, door didn’t lock, couldn’t wash hands. At the beach the food wasn’t cooked properly, raw chicken and they ran out of water to drink. Got diarrhea from the food. The beach was beautiful but overall experience was disappointing especially as I paid nearly $500 for 3 people.

Food was in inedible flys all over the food! Raw chicken was served. No priemium drinks were served the snacks were inedeble too, sweaty cheese and spam on a cocktail stick. No bathroom doors in the lavatories also no sanitary products such as hand soap also no privacy. One cup of water throughout the whole boat trip to the islands very dehydrated! Raw food served on the island although the island and the views were gorgeous the journey was painful and food inedeble

It was excellent trip from start to finish. Our guide was Bambi who was 10/10. The food was awesome on the island The staff on both boats were entertaining and accommodating with food and drink. I highly recommend that you book this trip through your Tui rep. The cost of the trip was a bit more expensive but it was worth it as it was 10/10

We booked 3 trips and did the island on the 2nd week of our honeymoon as we wanted something relaxing. The trip was very disappointing.the transfer from the hotel to the boat was 3 hours way too long! The snorkeling was awful, short with no coral and not far from boat docking. The national reserve area was uneventful. After missing breakfast due to an early collection I chose not to eat the terrible snacks provided. 1 & half hour catamaran boat back we sat on the hard floor uncomfortable.

This was sold as a premium experince by our Tui rep and it definitely was not! From tiny paper cups to 2 bits of ham&cheese on a cocktail stick as food, to a sand bank that was ment to be in the middle of the sea which was 100m from shore, to other boats emptying there toilets when we where swimming so people feces around you. A private BBQ that we had to share with 5 boats. Boat broke on way back. it took hours to get back. And the guide gave us no information about that. £135 EACH NOT GREAT

This is the second time I have done this trip with TUI, albeit a few years ago. My markdown score is based on the disappointing snorkelling experience. Our guide, Danny, was 10/10 - absolutely brilliant and we enjoyed his narration during the journey. The snorkelling took place in the harbour/marina of where we boarded the boat. The water was grey, and murky - churned up by all the boats coming and going. I thought this was abysmal and actually dirty. Felt like we were swimming in fuel.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our day out at Saona. The guide was very informative and entertaining, the crew on our catamaran were first class, food and drinks were good and plentiful apart from the speedboat, where there was no effort to serve us. Unfortunately my wife was unable to leave the speedboat at the starfish stop because of the potential difficulty of getting back on. The boat to boat transfers were also potentially dangerous, with a lot of movement.

Staff were freindly and informative. Although l stayed on soft drinks. The alcohol was flowing for other guests who enjoyed too many drinks. The snacks provided were efficient. The coach travel of 1 and a half hours was comfortable our guide mr motor was very informative and looked after us all day. We crossed by speedboat and stopped for a snorkel. The island & lunch were lovely and lovely pictures were taken. Returning by katamaran which blew a battery but was quickly fixed.Great day overall.

Too many buses and boats, it was very exhausting just to get to the island. The boat over too small for the amount of people. It was hot and we were not ever offered water for about an hour, then we had to get our own in a queue they there was not diet drinks she me wife really did drink much as she only like diet drinks, this would be bad if someone was diabetic. The crew never really enchanged with us apart from about 10 mins of dancing right in front of people whom were seated,

Loved the island, brilliant travel on the boats even though we sailed through a horrific storm. Swimming was great and the food too. We had two disabled travellers who found the boat transfers rather difficult and a little scary. However, the staff were great at helping with this.

So we booked Saona, for the 3rd time in as many trips with you. We tried to change it because of bad forecast and despite messaging at 9am the day before, we received confirmation of moving at 1:15am on the same day as the trip. Pick up was 8:15. So we could have stayed out and enjoyed entertainment, but we didn't because of this. Terrible service. Disappointing

For a VIP it was awful. Snorkelling waste of money. No fish just a seabed. You need to seriously think of a better location. No speedboat. Catamaran both ways under power. No sail. Sunbeds plastic and uncomfortable. Also sand slope to get to water. Too many rocks and stones on sea bed. Toilet facilities. No shade on boat. What we were promised didn't happen. I am really disappointed. It was the 1 trip we were both looking forward to.

The guide was rubbish, disappointing and disinterested. Crewe on the boats were friendly but over bearing. The boats were ********** not relaxing or comfortable. Even ran out of fuel in return leg and had to wait 30 mins for refuelling. Food and drink was not luxury as described but basic. Not a VIP experience. Island fantastic. Guide left bus at port area after customers complained about their experience.

The service was great and all the staff were friendly and helpful. The value for money is poor open bar = rum and coke, a paper cup of beer and water. Snorkel stop was pointless. Lunch wasn't great but plentiful.

Rundherum ein sehr gut organisierter und gelungener Ausflug. Der Mehrpreis für einen längeren Aufenthalt auf demPrivatstrand ist gerechtfertigt. Ich habe diese Tour bereits zum 3. The trip was excellent. Mr Mota collected us early in the morning, he was friendly and knowledgeable guide, ensuring our safety at all times. Enjoyed the catamaran experience, dancing, snorkelling/swimming and music, , 3 hours on island. Drinks and BBQ lunch were included. Speedboat ride back was great fun. Was an excellent day, well worth the money. Just remember to take money for tips during the day. Would recommend

Have been several times before. This time the each was dirty, plastic, rubbish, bottles etc. To the part on the left was like a rubbish tip. Food was poor quality maybe because we were the last ones. Barbacue was overcooked and not edible. No drinks offered once at lagoon. Sorry this was the agreement of all at our table.

This was an amazing experience! Great trip to one of the most beautiful beaches and bays you could imagine. Food was great including the all inclusive alcohol. The party boat on the way back took awhile for the party to start…but was fun when it did!

The trip was excellent with flying fish, relaxing, enjoying the scenery and the warm waters to snorkel and swim in. Drinking beer in shallow waters on the natural sandbank and floating was unbelievable. Everyone was friendly, the food tasty and the drinks in a coconut with a lot of rum was great. A couple of hours on the island to relax after lunch was great.

Guides and staff were excellent especially our guide Johnny. There was enough sunlounges on beach. No-one was pushing us to buy anything all the time. There wasn't too many people on boats. The buffet on beach was lovely and tasty. Would recommend The toilets on beach could do with being improved.

Totaal andere verwachtingen, geen private exclusive boottrip, mag je echt niet zo noemen met 25 anderen op een boot en gang v zaken. Snorkelen in de marina was een aanfluiter, met andere boten op eenzelfde plek liggen en alle aanwezigen het water in met ondeugdelijk snorkelwaar. En dan door naar het zwembad in de zee, gewoon een strook in het zeewater waar je kunt staan. Drinken op de boot teleurstellend geen wijn en onvoldoende voor allen aanwezig dan wel keuze. Veeel te duur voor de ervaring!

Très très déçues. Le snorkeling du début à 20 mètres du port : nul. La piscine naturelle c'est un arrêt quasi en pleine mer. Nous n'avions pas pied à certains moments, difficile de profiter de son apéro dans de telles conditions. Arrêt du midi sur une plage quelconque. Un repas très médiocre. Un guide antipathique qui quitte le groupe sans un au revoir. Bref une journée décevante. Seuls les trajets en bateau améliorent quelque peu le ressenti de la journée.

The church was beautiful. Maria’s house was fascinating and gave us a real insight into traditional Dominican life. The lunch was really nice and the location of it was beautiful. The driver and the guide were brilliant making it a really enjoyable day, particularly the rum on the bus. The beach we finished at was beautiful and we all really enjoyed cooling down in the sea.

The best trip of the whole holiday our guide Castro was absolutely fantastic. The island was beautiful the food was lovely on the cat on the way back had the most fantastic party with the absolute best captain 100% recommend this trip

The catamaran trip out was fab, the crew were brilliant & got the party started. The snorkeling spot,however, was crowded & my wife narrowly missed.getting hit by an incoming Cat whilst she was in the water. BbQ on the beach was ok, you wouldn't go hungry, there was plenty of food, but the rice was cold & some of the fish was undercooked. Beach sellers flogged coconuts with your favourite tipple in for $10 a shot, not worth it. In all, £137 on the steep side but Saona Beach is beautiful.

Een fantastische excursie. Vooral onze gids Castro was top! Alles was goed geregeld en verliep volgens plan. De 2 uur durende terugreis met de catamaran vloog voorbij dankzij de animatie die top was. In het bijzonder dankzij 1 animator die iedereen deed lachen en meedansen met zijn gekke grappen. Bedankt voor de leuke dag!

Het snorkelen hadden we al beter gehad tijdens een andere uitstap. De speedboot was wel leuk. Er was geen zon maar zeker geen regen gehad. Eiland was leuk maar niet speciaal. De terugweg op de catamaran door de animatie maakte er een geslaagde dag van.

Very disappointing for a premium-priced trip. Breakfast was basic (cheese/ham sticks and wraps), snorkelling had very few, tiny fish, and the supposedly special beach stop was overcrowded with boats and people. There weren’t even enough seats for our group, so four had to sit with another tour. The guide also spent around 10 minutes talking about tips, which felt excessive. We struggled to see what justified the extra cost over TUI’s £60 option.

**Very disappointed — not worth the “Premium” price!** We paid **$380 for two people** and expected a premium experience. The bus arrived 35 minutes late, the toilet situation was terrible, breakfast was just cheese and ham on toothpicks, and lunch was very poor (**2/10**). We were promised **3 hours on Saona Island**, but stayed less than 2 hours. **Saona Island is absolutely beautiful and worth visiting, but I would not recommend TUI’s “Premium” excursion!

The island and the natural pools were AMAZING! So so beautiful. The staff were very also very friendly and accommodating. This trip is around 12 hours long from start to finish and there is a lot of travelling involved to get both there and back, which you need to be prepared for. The only negative we had, was for the price of the tour, we expected more food to be available - it’s a very long day and were really quite hungry by the end. If we’d have known before, we’d have bought snacks with us.

Although its an early start and was a few hours on the coach to start this trip it was well worth it the atmosphere on the catamaran on the way to the island was fantastic the staff on board were brilliant they had us up dancing were extremely attentive in making sure we had drinks and the views were not to be missed the island was pretty the food was great and the ride back by speed boat was breezy well worth the money for a whole day out.

The only part of this excursion I didn't think was good was the fact we hardly got out of the port before the boat stopped for snorkling. There wasn't much to see and I didn't feel this was an authentic place to snorkle like it described in the details

Didn't enjoy the choice of drinks available either rum and coke or beer. It wasn't really a private beach as was spent with other tours so wasn't really exclusive. Dont believe it was worth the cost

I enjoyed the trip until we landed on the island. Our tour rep was terrible. We had to wait one and a half hours for the speed boat. Then the speed boat broke down twice in the ocean.

Het bezoek aan het eiland was mooi. Maar we hebben er was trammelant over onze retour boot. En daarna hebben we een uur zonder brandstof rond gedobberd in zee zonder info. Uiteindelijk waren we erg laat in het hotel terug.

I was pretty much disappointed at the beginning of the excursion due to the somewhat chaotic nature of the experience. The guide was abrupt not very apologetic and the food terrible. As far as the open bar you got a drink when it was offered. I understood we were to get a welcome drink when we got to the island but they ran out apparently yet the group behind us got one. All in all pretty rubbish for the money we paid. And tip boxes slung in your face shaking it like charity collection. :(

We had fun all the way through the day. The boat crew were excellent in entertaining the guests on the boats and the island was beautiful and idyllic. Would definitely recommend it. Wonderful day trip!

The catamaran ride was brilliant and fun. We arrived on the island at 1.20pm and were told originally we would have until 3ish which seemed a short time of less than 2 hours. We were all ready and waiting on the beach for our ride home. It was actually 4.20 before our speed boat arrived after some very loud arguments between Evalise (the Tui guide) and the boat company. A speed boat eventually did arrive but ran out of fuel! We were on the boat for 40 minutes before fuel was eventually delivered
