Mysterieuze bergen, weelderige groene valleien, afgelegen grotten en azuurblauw water dat schittert in de zon: Kefalonië is gewoonweg prachtig. Je maakt met de ferry de oversteek vanuit Zakynthos en verkent met de bus het eiland. Onderweg zie je de mooiste plekjes zoals de grot van Melissani en de baai van Myrtos.Iets ten noorden van Zakynthos ligt Kefalonië, een eiland dat synoniem is voor schoonheid. Tijdens de boottocht ernaartoe bewonder je de bergen en kliffen die uit de zee oprijzen. Je meert aan in de haven van Pessada en stapt dan op de bus. De eerste stop is bij de grot van Drogarati, waar je je vergaapt aan de talloze stalactieten en stalagmieten. Je gaat verder naar het meer van Melissani voor een boottocht over deze ondergrondse lagune met azuurblauw water dat glinstert in de zon.Vervolgens zet je koers richting het kustdorp Agia Efimia waar je vrije tijd hebt om te lunchen. 's Middags is er een fotostop bij de baai van Myrtos - een beroemde filmlocatie van Captain Corelli's Mandolin. Ten slotte dwaal je op je gemak door de hoofdstad van het eiland, Argostoli.

Sent a lot of time on the bus, was a beautiful island and the only thing I could say negative was that there wasn’t enough time in the main town at the end and was dropped there when there all in siesta and 90% of the shops where closed. But with ferry time booked time was tight

Our guide Konstantina and driver Demitrious were excellent. The tour stated 8 hours yet it was 13. This was a very long day. Queuing for 90 mins for the Messalina lake was ridiculous as was 30 Euros for 2 adults and a teen for a 15 min experience. Lunch was wolfed down in a bakery at 15.30, way too late after such an early start. We had a pathetic 20 mins in the capital due to the ferry leaving at 18.00. Agastoli looked lovely yet we saw virtually nothing of it which was disappointing.

30 mins at the caves is not long enough, by the time you climb down, run round run back up the steps, which is steep understandable, takes away the pleasure of what you have had to quickly look at, needs to be a hour, certainly no time to buy a souvenir.

Kefalonia is a beautiful island. The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. The two cave tours were interesting, but there was a fair amount of time spent waiting in line, and both were very busy (maybe as there were cruise ship tours also in Kefalonia that day). The ferry ride was quite lengthy (approx 90 minutes), but there was ample space to sit inside or outside.

Should have gone 2 days earlier but trip cancelled 15 minutes after our original pick up time, surely this was known before then as we were one of the last pickups. Overall it was a good trip, boat over lake was long queue for just a 5 minute ride. Do not like being taken to a specific restaurant and basically being told this is where we are eating. Nothing much on menu for vegetarians and only really main meals, only wanted a snack at lunchtime.

The guide Kay was excellent. Looked after everyone. Gave plenty of information about what was happening and gave clear instructions for meeting times and places. She gave us lots of background information about the island which was interesting.

The TUI rep was incompetent. Trip not value for money. Took an unnecessarily long time being 4-6 hours longer so exhausted by end. Lacked organisation. TUI unaware of local festivals so created longer delays. When we were stationery in a queue it was only by the clients taking charge that we progressed home. Tour was incomplete and didn`t follow itinerary. The first to being collected and then dropped off made trip a nightmare to be avoided.

Overall very good. Scenic and Informative. Guide very positive and knowledgeable. Caves a little small and long time in coach. Possibly shorter Lunch and get some time in a resort. Time estimated for trip was 8 hours but overall trip was over 12 hours. Must add that it was a very enjoyable day including the boat back as the sun sets.

Good tour and Kay was very knowledgeable. Large cruise ship guests made attractions busy and therefore we did not manage to visit the capital city off Kefalonia which was a disappointment, Ferry journey to and from Kefalonia was lovely. The return journey to our pick up point was horrendous as there was a festival on and all roads were blocked sat in mini bus for 90 minutes in traffic. When we got back we had to insist that the driver drop is at hotel rather than pick up point as it was so late

Bianca made this trip. She’s really incredible. I’ve seen other trips being taken place with other guide’s and they are no way in any league with Bianca, you can tell she was born to do this. Thank you Bianca, I would like a thank you to be passed on to herself. The trip wouldn’t have been the same without her. Only downside was how long we was out for 13 hours. Maybe this should be stated by TUI on the booking. I really hope Bianca is appreciated for her service. Amazing lady. Brook & James

The tour guide was knowledgeable, funny and very friendly. She explained every detail about the trip in advance which was useful. Be prepared to be slightly out f breath climbing out of these caves but the views are worth it. Kefalonia is beautiful and I would recommend taking this tour as you get to see many parts of this island.

A lovely day, although a long day! Constantina, our guide, was really knowledgeable and answered all questions. Huge queue to get in Messolini Caves, however it was peak season so to be expected. This impacted then on the time spent at the restaurant and in the capital, but managed to fit it all in. Saw a lot of Kefalonia as well which was lovely. You need to pay for the caves and underwater lake but this is only €13 for both per person.

The trip was absolutely fantastic, Bianca our TUI guide was so knowledgeable and went over and above telling all the history of the island. It was a whistle stop tour as there was so much to pack in but there was time to see everything properly. Melissani cave was stunning as was Myrtos beach. The Drogorati cave was hard work with the steps but worth it. I would have liked more time in Argostoli but can understand why we couldn’t . We also saw dolphins on the ferry ! Trip should say 12 hours

There’s a lot packed into this day trip, which offers a great way to sample the best of Kefalonia. Given that it’s such a large island, I really felt like I’d seen and experienced a lot. There were a few hair raising moments on the mountain passes, but thanks to our fantastic driver we felt very safe.

Definitely need more time in Argostoli as 30 minutes was not long enough, that was best part of your tour and it is not sufficient time. Also misleading having to pay extra for caves and lake.

We enjoyed the caves and the boat trip, but there was a lot of driving to fit everything in and often had very little time at each location - felt very rushed. We also weren't pleased to find that the entrance ticket to the caves were not included in the ticket price.

Great trip. The only downside was that it states its an 8 hour trip when it actually took 13 hours. We were collected from hotel at 7am and returned at 9pm, thus also meaning that we missed dinner at the hotel which closed at 9pm

Trip took around 14hrs start to finish 1.5hrs each way on ferry included had half an hour at the caves spent 1.5 hrs queuing for underwater lake which then had 10mins had a hour for lunch then around 30 to 40 mins stop later. Had to pay extra for caves and underwater lake if not you would of been eating so yes kefalonia a beautiful country but far too loon driving and not actually seeing kefalonia properly. Not advertised has a long journey to see two actual excursions with no time.

We were told which taverna to eat at for lunch. Would have chosen another one but thought it best to stick with the group as only there for an hour. Food was dry and cold. Drinks didn't arrive until we had started eating. We were given a basket of bread and 'butter' this had been left in the sun and was hot liquid. Bread dry without it. Horrified that we were charged for this. Unfriendly place.

Loved the trip. The only downside was the stop for lunch - I went for the recommended Kefalonia meat pie which sounded lovely but was really dry, certainly wasn't beef which we were told it was and even had a couple of hairs in it. Service there was terrible too. Recommend going for lunch in one of the other tavernas nearby. Other than that it was a great trip, even got to see loggerhead turtles in the bay! Definitely recommended, just go elsewhere for lunch...

It was an early start (7.35am) and a late finish (9.30pm). Long ferry trip, and coach ride but enjoyed the views, and the extra visit to the caves, shame it cost extra. Staff lovely, however could have done with letting us know an approximate time to return. We got the last ferry back at 6pm but they changed the route on the coach after meaning we were the last drop off. We missed dinner at the hotel as didn't know what time we would get back. Had two children in tow, so not good.

This is a great day out. Some other reviews complain that their bus journey to the port took too long. Just do a little research into how far it is from your hotel to the port. It turned out ours only took 20 minutes. We left at 8:15am and returned around the same time at night but it’s so worth it. Our guide Constantina is a local and very knowledgeable. Our driver was fab as the road has a lot of almost hairpin bends. We went to two sets of caves which are stunning.

It takes nearly 5 hours to reach the first “optional” addition to the tour the caves and the lake of which if you do not partake in then you have come a long way for a 5 minute photo. The corellis part of this is to stop on a vantage point and literally take a 5 minute photo. The free time in the main town was 50 minutes and we were not directed to where the shops were we only saw them as we left and we would not of had time to walk to them from where the coach stopped. Very pretty

A great Kefalonia experience and a lot was fitted in to one day. Guide Kay was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of facts and she even adjusted our day when a cruise ship docked so we didn’t have to wait for too long to see the beautiful underground caves. The scenery was amazing with some stops to take on the views. We were very lucky to see 6 turtles in the bay when we had a short stop at the capital. Our bus driver was experienced and we felt safe on the very windy roads and small bridges.

Enjoyed: St Nicholas Port, the Lake/Grotto, Argostoli. Not so much: A mini bus picked us up, which then transferred us to a larger coach part way into the journey to the ferry, and same on return. This felt like an unnecessary stage in what was already a long day. The pick up point was not specific, and required many contacts via the app to find out where we needed to go for the trip. Maybe give a descriptive example? (ie by the Airport Bar) Would have liked to spend more time in Argostoli.

Everything about this trip was as expected except the choice of restaurant for the lunch stop. The staff paid us no attention, didn't offer us water no please or thank you. No manners at all while we where there. It was as though they tolerated us because they wanted the money. Definitely the worst service we received while we where in a two week holiday.

A long day but worth getting out of bed early for. Really enjoyed the cave and underground lake although the singing boatman was a little off key ha. The guide gave loads of information and kept us informed on journey times throughout. The ferry crossing is long (2 hours each way) which is not advertised and maybe should be.

It was absolutely brilliant, a great journey to the boat, it was a little slow going over to Kefalonia but it was no speed boat. The underground lake boat ride & the cave visits more than made up for the crossing. It was spectacular, really cannot put it into words just how amazing it was. Most certainly will never forget it. Staff were great, friendly & helpful. Would definitely recommend this trip.

Overall it was a great day out, guide had exceptional knowledge, struggled a little with the caves but only due to my health problems! The tour itself was brilliant, loads of stops and really interesting places, value for money definitely. It’s a long day especially as we were first on last off but thoroughly enjoyed it!

The caves the lake and the commentary and useful information from Kay our guide were fantastic, however the trip was advertised as 8 hours but unfortunately we were out for 13 hours and we were exhausted by the end, maybe it would be a good idea if you told customers in advance how long they would be out for, even so we thoroughly enjoyed the experience

Very long but enjoyable day apart from the nightmare coach, we were transferred from a new air-conditioned coach with lots of leg room onto a much older vehicle that had absolutely no leg room and with being 5ft 10 I had to sit sideways into the aisle for the whole day, there was non existant AC which made the trip hard going and towards the end of the day the coach was starting to smell quite unpleasant. We were tempted to not get on the ferry to Kefelonia and get a taxi back to our resort.

Absolutely loved the Drogarti Cave and Melissani Lake, the pictures do no do these places justice! Absolutely beautiful and picturesque, you can make out every rock on the bottom of the lake 50ft below and watch the eels swimming. The lake guide was very knowledgeable and friendly and sang Greek songs between the bits of information. We unfortunately found many of the later stops too short to accomplish much, just when you find something neat you have to turn and head back to the bus.

The excursion said it would be an 8 hour day. We planned for around 10 hours to give time for travel and pickups / drop offs. However, it ended up being 14 hours long! A presenting would have been beneficial and we nearly missed the tea slot at our hotel (they served until 9:30pm). Additionally, the air conditioning on the coach didn’t work and it was a very hot day (30 degree heat). It made the travelling, 14 hours, extremely uncomfortable and had a negative impact on the experience.

This was the best day of our holiday. It was well organised, they got us to everything on time with plenty of time to enjoy each bit. We felt like we got to see so much of Kefalonia and we were never rushed and got to enjoy each stop. Our guide and driver were amazing at pointing things out even just during the coach journeys from each stop meaning we learnt and saw so much. It was a long day but an amazing experience to see such a beautiful island. Such a valuable trip.

Worth every penny. It's a long day, but you get to do so much. The caves, the monasteries, the lake, lunch, the ferry. You get to see so much of kefalonia in one day. Our guide was fantastic too, so much knowledge, spoke 4 languages, and super friendly too

The description says we would be out for 8 hours, we was out for 13 hours (7:30am- 8:45pm). Most time spent on coach/ ferry. Ferry journey 1.5 hours each way. Paying for the experiences separately to the tui offer seems a bit of a scam. Experiences were good. Drogarati caves were not amazing, . Lake Melissani was beautiful and looked like we were in a movie so would recommend.

Thoroughly enjoyed the excursion, although it was a long day starting at 7.30am and being dropped back at 9.15pm. Guide helpful and always available to talk to.

Staff were incredibly helpful and organised. The brief of the island history was great and the caves and lake are both worthwhile experiences. Views of the island are great.

The guide was very knowledgeable about the island, even adding on a visit to churches because she knew there were few visitors that day. It was a very long day!

A very well organised trip taking in many interesting sites, and leaving plenty of time to walk round on your own if you wanted to. The two guides were extremely knowledgable and helpful. The only thing to improve is advice on the tour length which, at 13.5 hours was much longer than the 8 hours advertised.

Trip was very well run and organised. Only gripe we had was the tour gide was clearly getting a kick back or free lunch as we were muled into the restaurant for dinner.

I booked this trip not realising that the guide only spoke Polish. The whole of the group were Polish. The guide asked some young girls to translate for her. They were amazing. Borden treated me like a queen she was amazing. The girls were so kind. I had the most amazing day. Thankyou so much for taking care of me x

This tour is advertised as Corelli's Kefalonia however you do not get to visit any parts relevant to the film or book. The guide tells you a bit about the filming and you get to pass the beach location on the coach. Not exactly visiting and not worthy of the excursion title.

Had to leave hotel at 7am and missed breakfast and didn’t return until 9.40pm. We were lucky that our dining room served until 10pm but many people also missed dinner. The ferry crossing whilst pleasant, was very long (one and a half hour one way and two hours on return) If this is the quickest way to get to Kefalonia, maybe it should not be offered as an excursion.

A long full days experience, which we thoroughly enjoyed. Our TUI guide Kay was just great, she’s a credit to the Company. Only negative really was the slowness of the ferry, but it was still relaxing.

Nice to see somewhere else but trip was far too long. Got picked up at 7.25am and got back to our hotel at 9.30pm we felt we had wasted a full day and night of our holiday. States 8 hour trip when in reality was almost double that. Too much time spent on the bus

De reis naar Kefalonia met de veerboot duurt veel te lang, 1u40 heen en 1u40 terug. Al bijna 4 uur kwijt aan de overtocht. De rest was best ok en het zien waard alhoewel we ook nog een uur in de rij hebben gestaan om amper 5 minuten in de boot in de grot te zitten. Wel een heel mooie streek anders.

Excellent trip , a fully packed day , well worth the money. Kay the TUI rep was very good. You need to change the duration time on the website , it says 8 hours , it was 14 hours. Not your fault but why does the ferry go so bloody slow !!

Was disappointed in the fact that the trips to the caves and underwater lake incurred an extra charge - felt it should have been included in the cost of the trip. We took our bathing things as the description of the trip suggested so was disappointed when we didn't have any free time at a beach.

It felt rushed all day, the free time in argosoli felt wasted as at the time of day you are there everything is closed and you only had 40 minutes of free time anyway, the tour rep got the bus to pull up at the side of the road outside a supermarket, no advice on where to go so saw nothing

We had an excellent day on the trip to Kefalonia, seeing far more of it than we would have otherwise in one day. Everything from the spectacular views, trip to the underwater lake (we didn't do the caves due to height of steps) to the fabulous lunch in a waterfront restaurant was thoroughly enjoyed.
