Cosa aspettarsi

Considerata una delle più belle passeggiate in levada di Madeira, l'escursione Ribeiro Frio non vi deluderà. Partendo dalle colline settentrionali dell'isola, si snoda attraverso il parco naturale, tra montagne e foreste di alloro, per terminare a Porto da Cruz.Oltre 2.000 km di levadas, simili ad acquedotti, attraversano Madeira, portando l'acqua necessaria all'arido sud-ovest dell'isola e fungendo anche da sentieri panoramici. Vi unirete a una guida professionista che vi guiderà lungo il percorso della bellissima levada Ribeiro Frio.Vi imbatterete in magiche foreste di alloro che nascondono piccoli uccelli come fringuelli e piccioni di Trocaz, e potreste persino scorgere il luccichio delle trote sotto l'acqua che scorre. Per quanto riguarda i panorami, avrete una vista a volo d'uccello sulla parrocchia di Porto da Cruz e sulla Roccia dell'Aquila, molto più in basso. Avrete poco meno di cinque ore di totale pace e tranquillità in mezzo alla natura.

Excellent walk on the levadas. Tour guide extremely knowledgeable. You can’t guarantee the weather, take warm jacket/waterproofs just in case. ‘Frio’ translates as ‘cold’!

I did a few Lavada walks and they are value for money with top guides. The only thing I would say is be very aware of your physical capabilities, the description does say not suitable for people with reduced mobility. The pathways are uneven, narrow walkways sometimes, uphill sometimes albeit a very slight gradient, people coming from the opposite direction.

This walk was changed due to landslides that occurred over a week ago. Why were we not informed of the change of walk in advance so that we could cancel and book an alternative walk? That said the walk company Madeira Explorers went above and beyond to get us on a suitable walk. Even sending our own personal minibus to take us back to the hotel.
