Winding through the picturesque terraces above Machico, you'll come even closer to Madeira's breathtaking beauty on this 6km guided hike. This two-and-a-half-hour walk kicks off in Maroços and follows a flower-lined irrigation channel, complete with views over Machico and the Atlantic Ocean.Heading to the east of Madeira, you'll begin this easy country walk from the pretty hillside village of Maroços. It's located among lush agricultural terraces that appear like huge steps carved into the hills. You'll set off on foot with your guide and discover sights that you wouldn't be able to see by car as you spiral your way along the green terraces above Machico and through Mimosa Valley.We'll follow the irrigation channel – ‘levada' – and along the way you'll catch a glimpse of everyday island life as you spot farmers tending to their land and animals. What's more, you'll not be able to keep your eyes off the panoramic views over Machico and the Atlantic Ocean that unfold in front of you.

Je ne recommande pas cette randonnée avec le guide dont je ne me souviens pas le nom. Pas accueillant, pas souriant et surtout ne maîtrise pas le français. Nous n'avons pas eu les recommandations sécuritaires et il y a eu un accident durant la randonnée. Un homme âgé est tombé dans le ravin a cause du chemin en mauvais état. Cette randonnée aurait dû être annulée car nous venions de subir la tempête Régina et le chemin était parfois coupé par des branches d'arbres tombées et couvertes de boue.

Ik vond dat het merendeel van de deelnemers ongekende haast hadden geen tijd om mooie foto's te nemen of filmpjes dat vond ik minder. Het was overigens een hele mooie wandeling.

Sehr freundliche Mitarbeiterin, Führung in deutsch und englisch, allerdings wer langsam ging, bekam nicht mit was vorne erklärt wurde, der Weg war einfach zu gehen, manche Stellen waren sehr schmal und matschig, man wurde aber auf entsprechendes Schuhwerk hingewiesen. Levada zum kennenlernen, Sicherung landestypisch.

It had rained tge night before so the path was sludge or just puddles if rain which was not a pleasant experience it also rained non stop just after we set off so we were drenched even with waterproof jackets on. If the weather was good we would have really enjoyed this walk and the guide was really knowledgeable and fun.

Het wandelpad was één doorlopende modderpoel, met plassen en uitstekende stenen en links vaak gevaarlijk diepe hellingen. Het regende hard, waardoor je alleen maar naar het pad kon kijken. De gids en de TUI hostess spiegelden de afstand en ongemak te rooskleurig voor. Met deze weersverwachting had deze wandeling geannuleerd moeten worden.

Linda, unser Guide, kümmerte sich hervorragend um all ihre Gäste, insbesondere um eine ältere Dame, die gegen Ende des Walks große Schmerzen hatte. Linda bleib die ganze Zeit über in unserer Nähe und half der Dame - wir sind ihr dafür sehr dankbar!

Well organised. Pick up at the hotel appreciated, was on time. The tour guide introduced himself and explained everything clearly. Always made sure everyone safe. Tim was extremely knowledgable about the environment. The only thing beyond anyone’s control, as the walk was the week after the storm some paths were quite muddy and slippy in parts. The pace of the walk was good and Tim checked everyone ok. Thank you Gene the TUI rep for organising.

Geen lunch nodig om mee te nemen, we stoppen aan een mercadona om nog aankopen te doen. De gids spreekt vloeiend frans en engels. We kregen alle uitleg en grapjes de ganse tour door. Super ervaring ??

Really enjoyed the walk it was easy terrain for anyone with minimal experience, just wish it could have been a little longer. We would have done a full day walk but didn't have but we didn't have proper footware.

Der Marocos Walk geht durch die Natur. Wir sahen , wie dort Gemüse angebaut wird. Unsere Wanderführerin hat uns viel über die Pflanzen und Menschen berichtet. Es war sehr interessant. Am Schluß konnten wir uns noch im Café stärken. Es war ein schöner Ausflug.

35 euro is vrij duur voor een wandeling van een halve dag. De wandeling zelf was heel mooi en de gids was bekwaam. Het was wel jammer dat de gids de uitleg in het Engels ook steeds nog eens naar het Frans vertaalde terwijl het aangekondigd was als Engelse gegidste wandeling want zo werd het saai en waren we 45 min later dan gepland terug in het hotel.

You haven’t experienced Madeira without walking the Lavadas & I have previously walked with Madeira Explorers. I could have booked direct with them but chose to book from the UK but don’t mislead by pushing your APP that way is frustrating. It is much easier on the web as you can add bookings to a basket & pay at the end. When your payment system isn’t coping it shouldn’t come back with your card has been declined leading to customer concern and unnecessary contacting their bank.

Ein wenig mehr Input von Seiten der Führerin, wäre von Anfang bis Ende wünschenswert gewesen. Die Abholung erfolgte pünktlich ebenso wie die Rückkehr. Der Transfair klappte zügig. Die Wanderung war wirklich wunderschön.

Our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us lots of local information regarding the traditional way of Madeiran life and the flora and fauna. May have been useful to have a toilet stop at the start especially as some had been on the pick up bus for some time before we got going.

Het was een mooie 10+ wandeling door een prachtig gebied. De gids had noodgedwongen haar dochtertje meegenomen. Daardoor ging een deel van de aandacht naar het kind. Verder een goede excursie.

Wij waren niet goed verwittigd over de mogelijke gevaren van deze wandeling bij regenachtig weer. De smalle paadjes waren op sommige plaatsen zeer glad. Je loopt dan op sommige plaatsen naast een helling van verscheidene meters diepte. In onze groep is een dame 2 maal gevallen en bij haar eerste val heeft ze veel geluk gehad. Als daar iets ernstigs gebeurd dan ben je onbereikbaar voor hulpverleners en de gids heeft ook geen EHBO kit bij. Bij deze vraag ik dat de hostess van Tui bete de risico’s

Information about many different plants was good. Ground was muddy in places making walking difficult as it was slippery. It would have been good to have more stops to admire the views. There were stops, but it was mostly taken up with information about plants which was good, but didn’t leave much time for photos and enjoying the scenery.

Ongelooflijk dat men dit toen al heeft bedacht en uitgevoerd heeft en nog steeds in takt is en volledig over het eiland is aangebracht en volledig in gebruik is. Soms is het wandelpad smal naast de afgrond.
