For the chance to see dolphins, whales and turtles in their natural habitat, look no further than this relaxing half-day cruise from Funchal. You'll sail along the stunning south coast of Madeira admiring the sea views and keeping a lookout for marine animals in the distance.Madeira's location in the North Atlantic Ocean makes it an ideal place to spot dolphins, whales and turtles, but to have the highest chance you'll need to cruise out into the open seas. Step on board a Turkish-style gulet boat in Funchal then depart for the dramatic south coast. You'll be able to watch the coastline twist and turn with steep cliffs rising from the sea as well the horizon for signs of activity.We'll head out in search of dolphins, whales and turtles – all of which are familiar sights in the seas around Madeira all year round. There's also a stop for swimming and cooling off before returning to Funchal marina where the cruise ends.

The boat was comfortable. Weather overcast but plesent and calm sea. It only took about 1.5 hours to get to an area where we found the dolphins were feeding! It was an amazing experience watching them jump out of the water for 15 minutes, then closely followed the beautiful coastline back to the harbour. We also stopped below the glass floor at Cabo girao that gave us a different perspective of the site. Great team and we also met a lovely lady from Stuttgart. We all thought it was worth it!

We were collected at our hotel on time, but when we arrived for the boat trip we were left waiting for 45 minutes before we could get on the boat. We could have gone for a drink if this had been explained. The sea was very choppy and so many people were sick/ill. There was no information about the area, as we travelled down the coast from the guide and nothing mentioned about whales or dolphins. None seen

The boat trip going out to sea was calm and relaxed but the weather changed and our return visit was very bumpy and like being on a rollercoaster.Unfortunately we didn't see any animals but we were aware that this could happen prior to booking.The transfer to and from the marina was efficient and both drivers were friendly.The boat crew were friendly and organised. January is probably not the best time to do this activity.I wouldn't recommend for people who suffer with motion or travel sickness

We did see dolphins, but there was no identification of what kind of dolphins. There was no safety briefing - man overboard, life jackets for example. Staff were welcoming, polite and professional. The captain was in touch with other craft to identify sightings of animals which was good. Boat was beautiful and classic with amenities on board. A very pleasant and relaxing trip..

Very good service throughout our trip. We were unable to take photos though as we had to hang on to the side of the boat. However we saw pilot whales and bottle nosed dolphins up close. Spectacular!

We did not receive the package we booked & paid for. Different boat & no swim stop. We basically sailed one & a half hours out turned around and came back. It appeared to us that the crew pretended there was a whale when there clearly wasn’t one. We did see a couple of dolphins from a distance. Came away thinking we’d been scammed. At best we were mis-sold. Transfer to & from the boat was excellent though.

Transfer late 25 minutes late in collection us from hotel. Driver of transfer extremely rude, did not speak, did not smile. Boat - left LATE, thanks to us waiting for another late transfer consequently because we left late we didn’t have time for a swim in sea so we were not even offered full experience. No whales or dolphins that day but the half day trip was well worth going on for the incredible views of the cliffs and coastline . A lovely boat and able to get close in on the return to Funchal enabling us to appreciate the height of the cliffs from close up. A good commentary from the crew. There was an elderly lady with mobility problems. Our mini bus driver and the crew were very attentive to her needs ensuring she was able to get on and off the boat and safely enjoy the experience .

L'intérieur du bateau était tellement sale et collant que je n'ai pas osé m'assoir ou me tenir à quelque chose. Un bon nettoyage et désinfection est nécessaire, rien que pour une question d'hygiène. Même si il est vrai que la plus grosse partie de l'expérience se passe sur le pont, cela gâche tout et donne une mauvaise image du service et des personnes.

Wycieczka na wysokim poziomie. W 8 godzin mozna zwiedzic bardzo duzo uroczych miejsc na tej cudownej wyspie. Bardzo sympatyczna Pani przewodnik podzielila sie z nami ciekawostkami na temat tej czesci Madery. Wycieczka dostosowana do osób w kazdym wieku. Polecam!

Es war ein sehr schöner Ausflug, von Transfer über Bootstour hat alles wunderbar geklappt. Madeira vom Atlantik aus zu sehen, ist wunderschön und die entdeckten Grindwale sind ein ganz besonderer Anblick. Die Crew ist super freundlich, gibt viele Informationen und ist wirklich hilfsbereit und sehr aufmerksam. So hat Ana z.B. Videos für mich gemacht, damit ich meinen Sohn und mich sicher halten kann. Meine drei Kinder und ich waren alle ganz begeistert.

Tolle junge Crew, und wir haben auch tatsächlich Delphine und Grindwale gesehen. Ein wunderbarer Ausflug, mit einem schönen Schiff und kompetenter Besatzung,und nebenbei noch dem besten Preis-Leistungs-Verhältnis, bei bestem Wetter. Wir haben leider keine Meerestiere gesehen, ziemlich ungewöhnlich für diese Zeit. Das wurde aber durch spektakuläre Sichten auf die höchsten Steilklippen Europas und dem Badestopp unter diesen kompensiert. Ich habe mich auch etwas mit dem Kapitän unterhalten, der mir als Einheimischer ziemlich viel über die Insel erzählen konnte (auch nicht turistisch abgestimmte Sachen wie Wahlverhalten, Politik etc.)

Ich wurde mit einer Verspätung von 15 Minuten im Hotel abgeholt und dann zum Hafen in Funchal gebracht. Der Fahrer hat uns zu einem Stand begleitet, an dem wir als anwesend registriert und dann zum Boot gebracht wurden. Aufgrund der Verspätung warteten dort schon andere Gäste auf den Start der Tour. Wir fuhren hinaus aufs Meer und ein Tour Guide begann Dinge zu zeigen und zu erklären, teilweise jedoch auf portugiesisch, sodaß ich nicht verstehen konnte , worum es ging

Rejs byl niesamowitym doswiadczeniem. Jakosc obslugi bylo wysokie. Niestety nie zawsze sie ma szczescie ujrzenia delfinów i w naszym przypadku widzielismy tylko jeden gatunek który sie nie ukazywal zbyt wysoko. Ale ogólne doswiadczenie na plus.

The guides were really friendly and helpful. They let my children steer the boat and answered lots of questions. We saw lots of dolphins and whales which was amazing. The boat was clean, stocked with refreshments and very spacious. We liked the shaded area so we didn’t burn and also the front of the boat where you could walk out to the edge. Thank-you so much!

Wir waren mit einem Segelboot unterwegs. Die Mitarbeiter waren sehr nett und hilfsbereit. Wir hatten zwei ältere Damen mit auf dem Boot, denen bei Seegang geholfen wurde wieder zum Platz zu gelangen. Wir haben Wale und Delphine gesehen. Ein Badestopp wurde auch gemacht, der von Einigen genutzt wurde. Uns wurde vieles erklärt... welche Wal-und Delphinart wir gesehen haben, das oben aufm Berg Bananenplantagen sind usw.. Wir sind happy und können diese Tour auf jeden Fall empfehlen.

A great experience - we were able to see lots of dolphins. There were not many other trippers on the boat which was sad for the crew but great for us. The sea was calm and we had personal attention. What's not to like?

Sehr nette Crew auf einem kleineren Segelboot, die sich viel Mühe gegeben hat, Wale oder Delphine zu finden. Drei Sechsmeter-Wale haben wir dann auch gesehen. Anschließend wurde uns dann gezeigt, um welche Art es sich gehandelt hat. Der anschließende Badeaufenthalt nahe der Küste wurde von einigen auch genutzt und war wohl auch ausreichend lang genug. Uns hat der gesamte Ausflug sehr gut gefallen und auch der Preis war okay.

Besonders gefallen hat mir die kompetente Reiseleitung. Sehr nette Dame die sehr gutes Englisch und französisch spricht. Ebenfalls fand ich die angefahrenen Orte wundervolle. Für mich persönlich war es 1-2 Stunden zu lang insgesamt aber was nichts direkt mit der Tour zu tun hatte. Wurden um 8.20 morgens abgeholt und waren abends um 18 Uhr wieder im Hotel. Alles in allem aber sehr zu empfehlen diese Tour

Da wir das Glück hatten auch Wale zusehen und das Wetter gut war wurde aus dem Ausflug ein tolles Erlebnis. Wir sind auch der Meinung das diese Tour auch wenn man keine Wale oder Delphine sieht eine schönes Ergebnis ist.

Das Schiff eignet sich sehr gut zur Delphin- und Waltour, da es nicht so überfüllt, wie etwa die Katamaranboote ist. Es gibt Toiletten und auch Getränke (allerdings teuer, 03 l Cola 3 €) an Bord, was vorher nicht klar war, ggf. sollte man darauf in der Werbung hinweisen. Ich habe die Fahrt genossen und kam auch zu Bildern von den Delphinen. Das keine Wale zu bestaunen waren, liegt an der Natur. Allerdings wurde die Moderation auf Englisch und portogiesisch vorgenommen!

Toller Ausflug, wir hatten eine Gruppe Delfine minutenlang direkt am Schiff. Erfahrene, professionelle Crew, alle super nett. Kurzer Badestopp am Cabo Girao, rs wirde vorab gefragt, ob jemand baden möchte. Die Crew hat währenddessen sehr auf die Sicherheit der Schwimmer geachtet.

Tolles Preis- Leistungsverhältnis. Wir konnten eine größere Walfamilie beobachten und ich fand es gut, dass man einen gewissen Abstand einhalten muss und nur eine kurze Zeit die Tiere beobachtet und dann Platz für das nächste Boot macht. Danach ging s an der Küste entlang mit Infos von der Crew, welche sehr freundlich war. Auch ein Badestopp wurde eingelegt. Es gab eine Familie mit Kleinkind an Bord, ich finde das Boot nicht für kleine Kinder geeignet, ich würde es ab 10 Jahren empfehlen.

Freundliche Crew. Wir haben leider weder Delphine noch Wale gesehen, es sind Tiere in ihrem natürlichem Lebensraum und die lassen sich natürlich nicht dazu zwingen sich zu bestimmten Uhrzeiten an bestimmten Orten zu zeigen, das muß man dabei beachten. Man hat einen schönen Blick vom Meer auf die Insel und die Stadt Funchal. Der Schwimmaufenthalt war o.k. . Insgesamt ein schönes Erlebnis.

Transfer was good but we arrived at the quayside about an hour before boat was due to leave. We then stood in the sun for 15 minutes before waiting the rest of the time on the boat. We weren't actually told our departure time - would have been helpful to know so we could pop to the town and buy coffee and snacks. Staff onboard were brilliant - pointed out the wildlife and looked after everyone - especially the children. Very friendly and a really enjoyable day. Bring swimming togs for the end

Der Ausflug hat sich für uns sehr gelohnt und es hat alles reibungslos funktioniert. Unser Fahrer ist leider sehr schnell gefahren und hat sich kaum an Verkehrsregeln gehalten. Auf dem Boot waren alle freundlich und wir haben noch viel Interessantes erfahren. Wir hatten das Glück, dass wir sehr viele Delfine gesehen haben. Das war wahnsinnig toll.

Super motivierte Mannschaft, die sehr umfassend informiert hat, was es zu sehen gibt. Wir haben Delphine gesehen. Hierzu wurden Blätter verteilt mit der Bestimmung der Art. Wir wären gern noch länger im Bereich der Delphine geblieben, aber es ging nach relativ kurzer Zeit weiter zum nächsten Ziel. Das Boot war geräumig, hatte einen Sonnenschutz, die Toiletten waren in Ordnung und eine geräumige Kabine steht bei Bedarf auch zur Verfügung. Insgesamt sehr gelungener Ausflug.

Guide was very experience totally enjoyed the trip a half day Cliffs and valley experience 4x4 well worth the money we sat at at the very back of the jeep gave us more leg room thoroughly enjoy the experience

Er werden krijg op tijd opgehaald. De bemanning is vriendelijk en behulpzaam. De houten boot is mooi. De bemanning doet echt hun uiterste best om je naar dolfijnen en emanciperen te loodsen. 2 soorten dolfijnen gezien. Het leek er even op dat we misschien ook nog een walvis zouden zien. Maar die was er alweer vandoor.

Wirklich ein wunderschöner Ausflug! Wir haben sehr viele Delfine gesehen, die zum Teil sehr nah ans Boot kamen. Außerdem konnten wir im Atlantik baden. Die Crew war sehr nett. Jederzeit wieder!

No sighting of any wildlife . Taken swimming which was not mentioned so were unprepared . Very very dangerous getting on and off boat as had to jump or stride almost 1metre without a gang plank

Fantastic trip, made more special by the way the crew treated everyone, especially our son encouring him to try swimming in the sea and keeping him safe, and making sure he had prime spot to see the dolphins. Would highly recommend to anyone

Would be good to have some kind of food and drinks available included in package as out from the hotel for 4 hours. Other than that, very good service. And we saw the dolphins. Plus the bay we stopped at on the way back with the opportunity to get in the water was an added bonus. The staff were very attentive.

Crew were knowledgeable friendly and kept the children entertained. There is a swim stop on the trip and this was not on the trip summary from TUI, we still got in the water but some people didn’t.

We had a hiccup for the tour as we missed the pick up even though we were at reception 20 minutes before pick up time The driver who came to collect us had a board with the boat name and when we sadin dolphin tour he didn't check our names so we were left at the hotel Fortunately our rep Ricardo was at the hotel and he managed to rearrange the trip to the afternoon slot for us We had a great time and saw well over 20 dolphins

The actual trip was good but the transfers were appalling. The transfer to Funchal was late then broke the speed limit. No one turned up for our return transfer. Contacted Tui twice who promised to arrange it and phone back. No phone call at all. Eventually the boat rep. organised a transfer. This meant a wait of 90 minutes!!!!
