The desert sands of Tunisia are sprinkled with Hollywood stardust. This two-day tour takes you to some of the country's top filming locations. You'll visit ancient Roman ruins and underground houses, cross a vast salt lake and spend the night in an oasis on the fringes of the Sahara. Hamdi, one of our expert local guides, says, “In Matmata, a cave village where the houses are hollowed out of the rock, the sandstone is soft enough to dig deep pits, and then carve out caves around the edge to form underground rooms. Each room opens onto the base of the pit, which becomes a central courtyard.”Begin your desert adventure at El Jem Colosseum. This ancient Roman stadium used to seat 35,000 spectators, entertained by gladiatorial fights and chariot races. After your cultural fix, head to Matmata, for lunch and a visit to the rock-cut cave homes that starred in the Star Wars films. Finish the day in your very own oasis for an overnight stay in Douz, the ‘Gateway to the Sahara'.In the morning, you'll cross Chott el Djerid, a rust-washed salt lake, before hopping into a 4x4 for a ride to Onk Jemal. Here, you'll explore a film set city built exclusively for Star Wars. After stopping for a Tunisian lunch at Gafsa, you'll round off the tour with a photo stop at historic Kairouan. You won't be able to resist taking lots of pics of the richly decorative mosques that give the town an abundance of character.

The hotel at night was horrific. Still had someone else’s hair on my pillow and there was ants and flies everywhere in the rooms. All activities were great fun though and the guide was very informative throughout. Value for money is definitely there for the amount of things you do on the journey. There is a lot of travelling on the bus! And very very early starts each day as well

The most impressive and interesting thing is the coliseum and the jeep safari. Star Wars is not bad, but they have turned the place into a bazaar. The mosque was closed so we didn't get in and their bazaar is just a normal little shop but with low prices. We didn't have much luck with the guide, she didn't tell us much and we had to overhear interesting facts from other groups and their guides.The driver was very careful, thank you for that Tarek. Salt lake is disappointing, no water at all :)

Amazing trip highly recommend very tiring with lots of travelling but worth it. Plenty of stops but always something to see at every one. Guide was great and full of information although the camel ride was extra it was worth paying for. star wars was a bit over sold but the rest made up for it! 4x4 was brilliant. Definately a memorable trip and a must!

I have to say i enjoyed most of the trip. Wasn't sure if the camels are well looked after. Didn't like the hotel room as there were bugs in the bed and we couldn't wait to get out of that place. Overall it was enjoyable.

Loved the 4x4 driving. Exploring star wars. Everything was very informative learnt a lot along the way. The food wished there was something our son would of eaten better but overall was an enjoyable tour. The bus driver and tour guide Danl was absolutely delightful.

The guide was incredible. So knowledgeable and thoughtful throughout. The driver was also brilliant. Most of the stops were brilliant too. Would’ve liked more time at El Jem (Colosseum) and didn’t get anything from the final stop at a carpet shop. The best thing (other than the guide) was the 4x4 safari. The worst thing was the hotel we stayed in overnight as part of the trip. It was awful - no hot water, terrible beds, and really tired in in disrepair. I would thoroughly recommend this trip

Loved El Jem, the sunset camel ride, the jeep ride through the desert and many other things. One part of the trip on the second day maybe should have been left off. It was a trip to a carpet shop. Not really something many of the travellers enjoyed. Also in the desert there are men who thrust desert foxes in your arms for money. The way they treat them animals is disgusting. What can TUI do to help prevent this cruel act?

Enjoyed being able to experience varying highlights of Tunisia. Tour guide and bus driver very good, nicely air conditioned. El Jem, jeep safari and Star Wars experiences excellent. Overnight hotel basic - food not labelled so difficult for vegetarian and fussy children. Not happy about having to pay for drinks (even water), should be provided to all inclusive TUI guests, not bothered if no alcohol. 3 hour drive to a closed mosque was not a great end to the otherwise great trip

This trip was amazing going all the way to Sahara Desert to see Starwars initial filmset, Colosseum, Salt lake, Sahara Desert sunset, camel riding etc, I enjoyed the trip. The guide explained very well all the details of the locations in 3 languages. But the weather is very hot, I suggest going spring time not in summer. Careful with locals selling things for very high prices. Also initial they told me walking with camel is free and then demanded money. Do not believe any local sellers!!!!

Having done this trip twice now. Once in 2022. We think the time spent on the bus is too long for anyone, especially kids. Our early departure from our hotel on day one took us North and away from our first destination at El Jem. Having to pick up other passengers it took us two hours to get to El Jem. 32 km away from our hotel. The hotel we stayed in was of poor quality and our early start on day two did not get us to the place where everyone else had gathered to watch the sunrise over the

It was an amazing experience, organised to the last detail. The guide was very knowledgeable and that took this trip to a new level! In two days you get to experience everything what Tunisia can offer. We met the locals, eat amazing food and the best bit was Sahara Desert. Got to Ride the camels into the dunes and then the next day we discovered Sahara by 4x4's. It was a unique experience and Tunisia will be something I won't forget!

andere Reiseveranstalter boten zumindest kostenlos Wasser an, musste nicht noch mal im Hotel die Tourismusgebühr und Einbettzimmerzuschlag bezahlen. vieles war nicht wie auf den Bildern zu sehen gewesen das Essen war naja

Die Tour hat uns im großen und ganzen gut gefallen. Die einzelnen Stopps waren zum Teil sehr eng getaktet zB den Fotostopp zum Sonnenaufgang in der Wüste. Gewünscht hätten wir uns einen Stopp in einer Oase , wenn man schon durch die Wüste fährt. Der erste Tag hat uns besser gefallen als der zweite, denn nach Sonnenaufgang und Jeeptour durch die Salzwüste zu den Star Wars Drehort saß man nur noch im Bus unterbrochen von einer Kaffeepause und einer zum Mittagessen. Gute Tour, um Land und Leben in Tunesien kennenzulernen. Der Guide war freundlich und hat uns viele interessante Informationen gegeben. Busfahrt war zwar lang, aber dafür auch eine gute Möglichkeit das Land zu sehen. Der zu kurze Halt am Salzsee und die 2 Stopps in Gafsa (schlechtes Mittagessen) und in Kairouan (Kaffeefahrt-Stimmung im Teppichladen) haben uns enttäuscht. Wenn man mit einigen Extrakosten und dem frühen Aufstehen (Tag 2: 4:00 Uhr) leben kann, dann ist die Tour eine Erfahrung wert.

Eine schöne Erfahrung, aber die besten Momente sind nur von kurzer Dauer. Wir verbringen mehr Zeit im Bus als mit dem Besuch der Sehenswürdigkeiten und dazu noch einen Ort, den wir nicht besucht haben, nämlich eine Oase mit einem Wasserfall.

Der Reiseführer war sehr nett und kompetent. Das Hotel in der Wüste Douz eher 2-3 Sterne anstatt 4. Der Ausflug war sehr schön, man sieht viel von Land und Leute, aber es ist auch anstrengend gewesen. Ca. 1200km mit dem Bus. Der Besuch in Kairouan hat sich nicht gelohnt, es wurde ein Besuch in der Altstadt versprochen, letztendlich waren wir in einem Geschäft mit Teppich Verkaufsveranstaltung und zum Einkaufen dort in einem Geschäft (3 Etagen). Alles andere war ok.

Es sollte darauf hingewiesen werden, dass man Getränke kaufen muss oder sich welche vorher einpackt. Zusätzlich fallen bei fast jedem Stop kleine Beträge / Trinkgelder an, welche man zahlen "muss". Das Kamelreiten muss auch extra gezahlt werden, was vorher nicht klar war. Zusätzlich sitz man die meiste Zeit im Bus, das ist zwar verständlich bei der Länge der Tour, darauf sollte man im Vorfeld aber hingewiesen werden.

Die Reise ist super und man bekommt viel zu sehen aber die Busfahrt inkl. der ganzen Stops um essen und trinken zu kaufen ziehen es sehr lang. Aber die Erlebnisse waren trotzdem sehr schön. Leider kann man in der Wüste ein Quad mehr fahren da es da wohl mal einen Vorfall gab also muss man sich darum selber kümmern. Das Hotel in der Wüste ist wirklich in die Jahre gekommen aber für eine Nacht ok. Alles in allem ein Danke an Mohammed

Wir wurden kurz nach 6Uhr am gewählten Ort abgeholt und sind am nächsten Tag gegen 18Uhr dorthin wieder zurückgekehrt. 1250 km Busfahrt sind nicht ganz ohne, aber wir haben sehr viel vom Land gesehen und viel erlebt! Mohammed ist ein super Reiseführer und hat uns viele Details erklärt (DE|FR|EN|AR)

- Tour war gut organisiert, ist empfehlenswert - Guide und Busfahrer waren top 2 dicke Minuspunkte, für Hotel und die 2 letzten Programmpunkte Hotel Sunpalm Douz ist eine Katastrophe ! - sanierungsbedürftig, veraltete Austattung, schmutziger Essensaal, einfach unhygienisch! Der letzte Pragrammpunkt hatte nichts mit Kultur und Besichtigungen zu tun, es waren reine 'Kaffeefahrten". Die wertvolle Urlaubszeit von 2-3 Std. hätten eingespart werden können

Die Zweitagestour hat uns besonders gut gefallen. Der Guide Mohammed hat wirklich viel Interessantes über Tunesien erzählt! Der Bus war klimatisiert, was total super war bei der Hitze in der Sahara. Das Dromedarreiten und Quadfahren haben super Spaß gemacht! Das Hotel, in dem wir übernachtet haben war so lala. Das Wasser war nicht durchgehend warm und hatte kaum Druck, aber für eine Nachr war es okay. Das Essen war aber sehr gut! Diese Tour ist wirklich empfehlenswert!

Das Hotel ist nicht gut, sehr abgewohnt, schmutzig und das Essen war absolut schlecht. Wir haben wie viele andere eine Quadtour dazu gebucht. Schade, das uns der Reiseleiter nicht darauf hingewiesen hat, das man vor Ort keinen Schutz für Kopf und Augen bekommt. Zumal es beim vorherigen Stopp alles zu kaufen gab. Ein kurzer Hinweis wäre toll gewesen. Die Teilnehmer von anderen Bussen waren bestens ausgestattet. Die Jeepfahrt war das Beste am ganzen Ausflug. Ein unvergessliches Erlebnis.

Ein super, freundlicher und äußerst Intelligenter Mann als Reiseleiter, Mohammed war spitze. Sein Deutsch, ebenso sein Englisch. Der Busfahrer war mega lieb und hat sich sogar mehrmals sehr gut als Fotograf der Gäste gemacht. Fahrstil, naja Tunesien eben ;) Eher negativ ist herausgestochen, dass grundsätzlich Pausen gemacht worden sind, wo es Touristenpreise gab, am Markt oder an Ständen auf der Straße (die es viele gibt) wurde nie Halt gemacht. Es wird viel zum Kaufen geraten. Aber Kein Muss!

Die Tour war super. Allerdings muss man genügend Bargeld dabei haben, für die ganzen Zwischenstops, für Getränke, Eis, Kamelreiten, Quad fahren usw. Das Essen im Hotel war okay. Unser Tourguide Mohammed war toll. Er hat viel vom Land und Leben in Tunesien erzählt. Ich würde die Tour jedem empfehlen, weil man auch viel von Tunesien sieht.

Die Reise war sehr informativ über die Geschichte und Geographie des Landes. Der Guide Elias hat alles super in einem klaren verständlichen Deutsch erklärt und auch den einen oder anderen Spaß eingebracht. Auch der Busfahrer ist super und sicher gefahren. Abzüge gibt's von mir für den Bus, da hätte ich mir einen moderneren Bus gewünscht. Es war ein Bus aus türkischer Produktion und der war etwas eng und auch sehr laut vom Motorengeräusch und bei einer best. Drehzahl gab es immer ein lautes piep.
