The north of Mauritius is awash with history, culture and nature – this trip dips into all three in the photogenic north of the island. Visiting Cap Malheureux village and Pamplemousse Gardens, you'll stop for lunch and a rum tasting experience before free time to shop in the Caudan city craft market. Jean, one of our expert local guides, says, ‘Pamplemousse is a unique botanical garden, famous for its big pond full of giant water lilies, the largest leaves of which can support a weight of around 50 kilos.'The morning begins with a photo stop at the pretty village of Cap Malheureux, home to the iconic, red-roofed church of Notre-Dame Auxiliatrice, a bright contrast to the colours of the Indian Ocean beyond. Next, we'll take a trip to Pamplemousse Gardens – the oldest botanical gardens in the southern hemisphere. Explore more than 500 rare plant species sprouting among the shady palm avenues and spice plantations here, then head on to Sugarworld for lunch.This factory and museum won't just see you fed, it's also the place to be schooled in the sugar trade, its history and to sample some sugarcane. There's some special Mauritian rum to wash it all down with too. You'll also visit the Blue Penny Museum, where displays include the famous postage stamps of 1847. Rounding off, we'll head to the city of Port Louis for free time to shop the modern boutiques down at Caudan Waterfront or hit the historic quarter's old craft bazaar.

Wir hatten eine Führung in Deutsch gebucht. Unsere Reiseleiterin war sehr gut,verständliche Sprache und sie hat alles sehr gut erklärt. Vielen Dank .Im Restaurant beim Mittagessen könnte man außer Wasser noch ein alkoholfreies Getränk im (Preis inbegriffen) dazu anbieten.

Wir hatten einen schönen Tag mit guten Infos zu den auf der Nord-Tour besuchten Sehenswürdigkeiten. Besonders hat uns der Ausflug in den „Botanic Garden, Pamplemousses“ gefallen, der allerdings etwas länger als nur eine Stunde hätte ausfallen dürfen. Durch die sehr freundliche Reiseführerin erhielten wir einen Einblick in die abwechslungsreiche Pflanzenwelt. Der Besuch der stillgelegten Zuckerfabrik mit umfangreichen Informationen war ebenfalls sehr interessant und kurzweilig.

Leider wurden wir bei der Abholung vergessen und mussten dann mit einer französischen Gruppe bis zum botanischen Garten fahren. Man hat dann anscheinend kurzfristig einen Guide organisiert und uns mit einem englischen Paar zusammen gesteckt. Der Guide war sehr lieb und bemüht aber perfekt deutsch konnte er leider nicht.

Pünktlichkeit des Ablaufs der Reise war stets gegeben. Wir waren eine Gruppe aus 8 Personen. Mittagessen im Museumsrestaurant war sehr gut. Die Reiseleiterin Cindy war stets um guten Service bemüht und alles interessant zu gestalten. Besuch des Botanical gardens hätte länger stattfinden können. Beim Besuch des Marktes haben wir uns unsicher gefühlt und sind gleich nach Ankunft zurück zum Abholplatz gegangen.

All other TUI experiences we have been on the tour guide gave constant information throughout the journey about the area but this tour guide spoke very little and seemed preoccupied by a French lady who she chatted with (in French, which we do not understand) for most of the trip. She did give out relevant information at the venues attended but we felt let down by her lack of information and chatting in French throughout

First off we were not on the pick up list for the bus but the guide zul was very helpful trying to sort this out in the end we got on the French speaking one as he didn't want us to be left behind, from that point we felt that the guide included us into the group as we were the only non french speaking couple on board and was more than happy to do his best to include us. at the first stop another English couple joined us from another bus so we had some company, the rest of the day was brilliant

Vikram hat viel über Land und Leute und über die Entstehung Mauritius erzählt. War sehr interessant. Mittagessen war einheimisch und gut. Sogar Wasser und Tee/Kaffee kostenlos dabei. Vielleicht die Rumverkostung nach dem Mittagessen machen, da der Rum einen ganz schön in den Kopf steigt. In Port Louis wäre noch etwas mehr Zeit nötig. Aber alles in allem ein schöner Ausflug.

Unser Guide Eddyy war der Knüller. Super freundlich, unterhaltsam, informativ. Er sprach perfektes Deutsch und ist auf uns Gäste immer eingegeangen. Der Fahrer Mattheu war auch sehr angenehm und hat uns sicher durch den Verkehr gebracht. Die Tour vermittelt einen kurzen Einblick in die Sehenswürdigkeiten des Nordens, für mehr kann bei der Tour keine Zeit bleiben. Allein wegen dem tollen Guide ist die Tour auf jeden Fall zu empfehlen!

Positiv: Der Guide hat viel über Mauritius erzählt und sich um alle bemüht. Der Fahrer fuhr sicher, die Orte waren sehenswert. Negativ: Mehrere Warte-Stopps auf dem Weg, wegen weiterer Gäste. Auf dem Markt führte der Guide uns offenbar zu bekannten Verkäufern; Preise waren deutlich überhöht (z. B. Vanilleschote 8 € statt 2 €), ohne Hinweis auf den Normalpreis. Kurze Zeit in der Hauptstadt (45min). Die Hauptstadt hat viel mehr zu bieten als uns gezeigt wurde.

The tour was great. The guide, Nicholas, was very knowledgeable and really helped to set the scene about the island, it's history and life in Mauritius. We spent just the right amount of time at each stop, all of which were very worthwhile. The rum tasting was good fun and lunch was fabulous. I'd definitely recommend it as a good way of seeing the north of the island.

Fahrt zu Beginn standen wir im Stau. Berufsverkehr scheint normal zu sein, wenn möglich anders planen. Einzelne Sehenswürdigkeiten waren toll. Zuckerplantage mit Zucker und rum proben wirklich interessant. Unsere Reiseleiterin führte uns zügig aber sehr informativ. Super war ihre Führung durch botanischen Garten, so erschlossen sich die Vielfalt der Pflanzen. Leider viel zu wenig Zeit für Markt und Innenstadt in Port Louis durch morgendliche Stau.

Der Taxifahrer war sehr nett und freundlich. Der Guide konnte zwar einigermaßen gut Deutsch, allerdings hat er oft in eine andere Richtung gesprochen, sodass man ihn nicht gut verstehen konnte. Auch im Bus war das ein Problem. Das Mittagessen im Zuckerrohrmuseum war sehr lecker, das Wasser war sogar im Preis inbegriffen.

Stopped twice on the highway to pickup last minute passengers. A journey that takes 2 hours with bad traffic, took 3. 20 in group too many. Mixed language was awkward as the guide kept flipping from English to German. Lunch was too long (1.5 hours) even though everyone had eaten within 30 minutes. The walk through the market was really unnecessary as it was mainly fruit and vegetables. Did do a couple of stalls with gifts but were encouraged not to stop and keep walking. Pointless.

Eine sehr schöne Tour mit unserem Reiseleiter Eddi. Er hat sehr viel Einblick in das Lenen auf der Insel gegeben. Die Führung durch den botanischen Garten, die Zuckerfabrik und Port Louis waren interessant. Beeindruckend war das Briefmarkenmuseum mit den berühmten Mauritius-Marken und der alte und neue Markt an der Waterfront. Wir hatten genügend Zeit alles in Ruhe anzuschauen. Das Essen war ebenfalls sehr gut.

The Guide was incredibly knowledgeable about everything, even down to every kind of tree in the botanical gardens! Everything was great. The time spent at each location was perfect, not to short or long. More than enough time to take pictures for great memories. Sugar and Rum tasting was extra special and had plenty of time to go to Port Louis and have a walk around the main shopping area and Port. Incredible experience and would recommend everyone to do it!

A well-designed day with a good range of experiences . the procession through to the market and later to the port was a little brisk and under-supervised. Some form of identification item by the guide would have made it easier to follow her. The bus journey through the mountains at the start might have caused nausea in some travellers. My main issue was the driver using his mobile phone and also engaging in phone calls while driving. This should be made unacceptable as in the UK.

Jardín botánico bonito y nos acompaño el guía con alguna información, mercado en la zona antigua interesante. Estaría bien si el guia ayudara un poco más en el mercado con coger el mejor precio y probar la fruta. Para la comida solo había una opción de ensalada, pollo curry y postre muy rico y sería aún mejor si hubiera opción para los que no coman curry. Más tiempo en el jardín botánico y menos en la parte nueva de port Louis sería perfecto. Igualmente recomiendo la excursión.

Die Tour war einfach eine schöne Erfahrung. Mir hat der Botanische Garten sehr gut gefallen. Unsere Tour Guide hat uns die Namen der unterschiedlichsten Pflanzen genannt. Die Besichtigung in der Zuckerrohrfabrik war auch richtig schön und interessant. Ich würde diese Tour auf alle Fälle weiter empfehlen

Our guide - Sanjay - was excellent. He told us facts about where we were going, the history and culture of mauritius. He showed us around the gardens and sugarworld telling us about the different parts and different plants. It's a great tour to see so much and learn so much. We really enjoyed it. Pick up was on time. Would be useful to know what company in advance it's with as there can be several pick ups from hotel in the morning.

Viel Fahrzeit für viel Geld. Insgesamt zu wenig Zeit pro Stopp. Botanischer Garten unspektakulär. Gleiches gilt für Port Louis. Wenig Zeit und Waterfront als einziger Stopp nicht repräsentativ für die Inselhauptstadt. Zuckerrohrfabrik reines Museum, wenig authentisches Erlebnis.

Tasha, unser Tourguide, hat uns viel über die Geschichte und Entwicklung von Mauritius erzählt. Im botanischen Garten auf viele Besonderheiten der vielen unterschiedlichen Palmen hingewiesen. Genauso viele Informationen hat sie uns über die Zuckergewinnung und Rumherstellung gegeben, welche wir auch probieren durften. Es war ein toller Tag für uns.

Unsere Reiseleiterin war sehr nett und hat uns viel über die Geschichte des Landes und die Menschen erzählt. Das Zeitmangement war super. Wir hatten an allen Punkten viel Zeit. In Port Louis hatten wir 90 Minuten Freizeit, das war sehr ausreichend. Das Mittagessen war lecker und das Restaurant sauber.

Swietny przewodnik, bardzo dobrze dobrany plan wycieczki. Ogromnym plusem byl lunch w srodku dnia. Jedyna mozliwosc ulepszen, to, ze duzo latwiej byloby jakby wycieczka byla jedno jezykowa - kiedy jest laczona np. angielsko/francuska czasem ciezko przewodnikowi opowiedziec o czyms co mijamy po drodze w dwóch jezykach, a dodatkowo pozostaje mniej czasu na zapoznawanie sie np. z wystawami w muzeum.

Der Ausflug selbst hätte uns sicherlich sehr gut gefallen, wenn wir einen Guide gehabt hätten den wir auch verstehen gewesen wäre. Er sprach sehr schlecht deutsch und war überhaupt schlecht zu verstehen. Wir wurden mit einem PKW zum ersten Stopp der Tour gefahren, was sehr gut organisiert war. Dort mussten wir einige Zeit warten bis der Bus kam. Der Guide hielt es nicht für notwendig sich vorzustellen und uns zu begrüßen. Er sagte nur wo die Toilette ist und wann es weitergeht.Erklärungen null

Es ist es eine schöne Tour gewesen - mit nettem Guide (Natascha). Der Stadtbesuch in Port Louis hat uns nicht so gut gefallen und die Haltung der Schildkröten / Hirsche im Botanischen Garten zu hinterfragen.

Our guide Natasha was so good. She gave us clear and simple information about the history and what to expect. I didn’t feel rushed or watched too much. She had to give all the information in English and German, which she did flawlessly! The botanical gardens were great as was the capital. There are veggie options for lunch, just let your guide know! Would definitely recommend!

Unser Guide war sehr freundlich, nur seine deutschen Sprachkenntnisse waren eingeschränkt. Des Öfteren verstand er die Fragen nicht. Die Kirche mit dem roten Dach ist nichts besonderes,. Auch fanden wir es einengend, den botanischen Garten nicht selbständig erkunden zu können. Die Zuckerrohrfabrik war okay, allerdings waren auch hier Informationen rar. The guide was great! Spoke in french & English, but kept it clear. This tour didn't feel as rushed as the South tour. Loved it all, but particularly loved the Pamplmousse botanical gardens.

Natasha was our guide and was friendly and knowledgeable. The Botanical Gardens are beautiful and the Sugar Cane factory tour was interesting, with the added bonus of the rum tasting.

Melissa notre guide ********** un grand atout pour cette activité. A l'écoute, joviale, bavarde, on l'a adoré ! La visite du Nord vaut pas mal le coup pour jetter un œil à la ville mais certaine visite comme le musé du tombre ne vaut vraiment pas la peine. Nous avons toute même passé une très ********** visite, avons eu un bon repas et une guide ainsi qu'un chauffeur au top !

Alles in allem ein schöner Ausflug, sogar mit etwas Freizeit in Port Louis. Der botanische Garten war sehr schön, hier hätte man gerne auch noch etwas länger bleiben können und in der Zucker Fabrik etwas kürzer.

Der Guide 'Prenkiss' hat die Tour versucht auf deutsch zu führen. Hauptsächlich wurden die Fakten auswenid gelernt und Fragen auf deutsch konnte er nur mühsam beantwortet. Alles war sehr ab gehetzt und viele der Fakten willkürlich ohne Plan kommuniziert. Schade für die schöne Tour. Gerade im botanischen Garten, konnten wir 1 Stunde laufen und er hat uns nur an die Hand genommen und wir konnten die Tour nicht genießen.

Enjoyed the variety of the tour and seeing different places. The botanical gardens were great, wished we could have had more time there. Brilliant to see the Mauritius blue penny stamp and wished we could have spent more time there too. Loved all the information about the island but just not enough time to digest it all.

Man sieht viel, zeitlich gut geplant für einen ersten Eindruck der einzelnen Highlights. Das Rum Tasting war mMn qualitativ sehr gut (ich konnte noch woanders vergleichen). Hatte Natascha als Guide und sie ist sehr engagiert. Wer mehr Zeit zum Verweilen möchte, ist mit einem privaten Fahrer oder ggf. einem anderen Ausflug besser bedient.

Gut: - Reiseguide Natascha war super nett - Gesamtpaket und Ablauf waren gut geplant - bisschen straff weniger gut: - das Mittagessen war ein wenig hektisch - zu wenig Zeit in Port Louis (vielleicht als Tagestour anbieten) - nur einkaufen in der Mall war zu wenig - mehr Sehenswürdigkeiten ( z.b. Fort Adelaide oder ChinaTown)

Orte waren gut. Aber viel zu wenig Zeit. Durchschleusen durch einzelne Orte (Zuckerfabrik. Verkostung, Briefmarkenmuseum, Markt) Rückfahrt schon 15:30. Weniger ist mehr. Ausreichend Zeit vor Ort einplanen. Mittagessen war gut in schöner Umgebung. Stadtplan, -rundgang durch Port Luis wäre schön gewesen.

Relativ großer Zeitverlust beim Einsammeln der Gäste (über halbe Stunde Leerlauf wg. Verzögerung der Gäste aus dem Süden) -> Zeit fehlte in der Folge (z.B. in Port Louis). Kein Mikrophon im Bus (Probleme im hinteren Bereich). Insgesamt sehr lange Fahrzeiten. Zuckermuseum war nicht der Renner. Es ist problematisch einen Ausflug ohne persönlichen Kontakt im Vorfeld einzuschätzen. Bei uns gab es keinerlei Besuch von TUI im Hotel (im Gegensatz zu anderen Hotels -> dort 10% Rabatt bei pers. Buchung!)

Die Tour war von der Organisation her ok, leider hatten wir an den einzelnen Stationen zu wenig Zeit, um sich in Ruhe umzusehen. Dies gilt insbesondere für den letzten Halt in Port Louis. Die Zeit dort betrug nur knapp 1 Stunde. Viel zu wenig, um sich auch nur ansatzweise in Ruhe einen Eindruck verschaffen zu können.

During journey to first stop there was a lot of info about Mauritian history. Then we reached the first stop and it was off for photos with no info about what we were seeing! Sugar museum was all a bit of a rush. We felt that Port Louise had much more to offer than what we saw. A dash though Central Market to specific stall selected by guide - few interested. Throughout tour guide spoke in short bursts of English then repeated in French - difficult to tune into English part. Better way??

We loved the tour, especially the Pampel Mousse botanical gardens (make sure to wear insect repellent!), which were really beautiful, and the Sucarcane Factory was really interesting. Port Louis has a lovely harbour and is your typical bustling city. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable and gave us a great insight into the life, industry and nature of the north of the island. Highly recommend!

Insgesamt ein guter Ausflug Der Aufenthalt im Zuckermuseum war etwas lang aber wenn jemand daran wirklich interessiert ist war ausreichend Zeit vorhanden. Unser Guide war sehr freundlich, informativ und hat immer versucht auf unsere Wünsche einzugehen. Freizeit an der Waterfront war genügend da hier nicht viel Möglichkeiten geboten werden. Wir waren insgesamt zufrieden.

Der Tour Gight war absolut spitzenmäßig und hat sehr viel Information über die Insel rüber gebracht, im Gegensatz zwei Tage zuvor hatte ich die Nordinsel Tour mit Angelika gebucht. Da kam nicht viel rüber !
